I love Pokémon, but the days where I purchased a videogame for the full price only to finish the main story after like 10 hours and then lose interest almost instantly are over.

Because I enjoy collecting and breeding Pokémon for battle, but I do not enjoy playing wifi battles. The endless "place spikes, switch Pokémon, take hit, switch, attack, switch" kinda deal is not Pokémon for me. I enjoyed the original concept of Pokémon battles way too much in order to care for the professional meta.

If Gamefreak can’t deliver some creative and fun challenges after the main story is over they won’t get my money. And no, another version of the Battle Tower concept is not enough for me.

True, and I was fine with that because I was a kid back then, I didn’t care. Beating the Elite Four over and over again and collecting each Pokémon was good enough.

But once we got Emerald I was fascinated by the Battle Frontier. It's kinda like collecting arena badges for grown-ups, since the challenges are harder and every facility has its own rules.

I love it because it lets you experience some harder battles after the game is over, every Pokémon game should have something like that. And they do have Battle Tower-like stuff in almost every game now, but I think those are boring since they only offer standard battles and no real rewards for anything. You just farm points for items and that’s it.

To be fair collecting the Frontier badges in Emerald didn’t give you anything special either, but they introduced useful rewards for completing the Pokédex so they can do the same here. Like giving you a charm which gives hatched eggs a better chance of inheriting strong IV values form their parents, or even directly inherit them so you don’t need to hatch 50 eggs to get a perfect one.

There’s also still no real way to battle with Legendaries after the game is over, like why not offer casual modes in these battle facilities where you can use Legendaries for fun with the drawback of not earning points? It’s a very specific issue so I don’t think they’ll ever care, but I’m just a bit tired of playing a great game but losing interest after the main story is over because I have nothing more to do except completing the Pokédex.

Stuff like the Delta episode is awesome, don't get me wrong, but those postgame quests end rather quickly and offer nothing worth mentioning for you to do except completing them.



It is 45 yeah, but that's still full price for that specific system.
