Yeah I think if you want a "Happy Go Lucky" version of Gundam go watch Build Fighters......Which really isn't all that bad IMO

Gundam Build Fighters is a good Gundam show for younger kids. I do like having a good serious Gundam show too. If parents want younger kids to watch Gundam then they could have them watch Build Fighters or the SD Gundam shows.

Or 0079,ZZ,F91,G,X,Wing,Seed,Turn A etc...

Let's face it guys most Gundam shows are for kids it's mostly the OVAs that are aimed at older fans.

Most are only tragic in the end because someone close to the protagonist died in the closing arc and in 0079's case it was idiotic and felt forced given that Lalah and Amuro barley knew each other,Lalah was a massive hypocrite and her death was her own fault and even it ended on a high note because Amuro was found by White Base and Char avenged his family. That's the key difference though he was tricked into thinking he was dealing with dangerous individuals who were a threat to the colonies and regretted that mistake You mean fighting against a tyrannical and oppressive regime that terrorized the colonies. He only deliberately fired on trained soldiers who weren't defenseless aside from mostly empty threats to Relena. The only time in the show he deliberately threatened innocents/helpless targets aside from Relena was when Epyon drove him insane.

I don't think there's a single kid alive that could endure an episode of Turn A with losing interest. Wing and SEED were pretty dark too.

G and Wing are a bit too old too. Kids these days may be turn off by the old animation. I seen younger anime fans who don't like watching old anime because the style for them is hard to watch. Kids these days are used to the modern anime style that we had for the last decade.

0079: Parents are either killed or family splits open, family issues, political back stabbings, a loved one dies and traumatizes two people.

F91: Same as 79 but without the lover.

Wing: Teenagers are brainwashed and forced to kill people, backstabbings, politic discussion, moral dilemmas, philosophy on peace and what it truly is

X: Mistreatment of specific types of people, 79 and Wing.

So only bad stuff happens at the end? Bull shit. Kamille's parents were killed off in the first five episodes, his mother being given up by his father with Kamille forced to watch it. Dark and tragedy don't just happen in the end. Tomino's said it, war is tragic and dark in general, and it is a fact that rings true throughout entertainment and real life. War is shown in Gundam as being just that; tragic, dark, brutal, and unforgiving. Not just at the end because "Herp derp time for stuff to get serious."

Again, you seem to be forgetting Heero mercilessly taking out a plan full of politicians because he was told to do so and tricked in the process. Not to mention he was raised/taught to kill anybody/everybody he was told to or considered an enemy, including threatening a teenage girl because why the heck not.

Wing and Seed are only dark when you look deeper into the backstory for each otherwise Wing's a typical 90s shounen anime with shojo elements sprinkled in to bait females into watching whereas Seed's a typical and mediocre romance drama with giant robots thrown in.

Those would be great examples if they weren't either mostly glanced over in favor of more toy robot fights,have little effect on the main cast outside of a couple episodes,largely only happen to unsympathetic characters and often feel forced and are caused by plot induced idiocy in an attempt to add tragedy.

And as I said before Zeta*which is what you quoted* and Victory are the exceptions because they actually show the toll war takes on young and old soldiers and the loss of innocence it causes*not just tell us it does*,have the protagonists suffer genuine tragedy*compare Four's deaths in both versions of Zeta to Lalah's and Flay's and how the protagonist reacts to them and tell me which feels less forced and stupid or compare Kamile and Uso losing almost everyone they care about to betrayal or war to the point where Fa and Shakti are like consolation prizes to almost all of Amuro,Seabook,Heero,Garrod and Kira's friends and allies surviving in the end* and not ending on a necessarily positive note*Uso and Shakti survive while losing all their loved ones and Katejina lives but becomes blind,helpless and possibly brain damaged and Fa's horror-struck face and breaking down in tears when discovering Kamile's state after he destroys The O compared to Amuro,Seabook and Kira's tearful reunions with their friends and loved ones,Heero successfully blowing up an asteroid while an upbeat pop song plays and the where are they now epilogue of X*.

Which as I explained the difference is it was a mistake he made and regretted in the name of protecting innocent lives not an act of cold blooded murder.

The difference lies in motive,intent and how the respective characters reacted to the situations.

Yes and he largely rejected those teachings to become a protector and also a suicidal death seeker because of guilt caused by accidentally killing an innocent girl in the past.

Who he gave several chances to avoid being killed by him by simply leaving him alone of-course Relena wouldn't be Relena if she didn't try her hardest to earn the award that shares her adopted surname...

Yeah, I have to agree that most of Wing's "darkness" comes from supplemental material rather than the show itself.

I'm just now watching my way though the UC. In fact, I was watching the 3rd 0079 movie an hour ago, but the power cut out. I'm not sure I feel like finishing it tonight.

I can safely say that I've never heard a worse soundtrack in my life.

Thing with Thunderbolt is that our rivals are both Jazz fans.

And I like jazz. Just not that kind of jazz. In fact, I was looking forward to hearing the soundtrack for that very reason, but that's just painful to listen to. Not at all the music I envisioned when reading the manga.

It was kinda good until the 8 second mark to be honest. But then the poor saxophonist suffered from a heart attack or a stroke, can't tell. Either way, RIP.

Been a while since I read the manga... But isn't it that they both like this obscure Jazz style? and that everyone else tells them it's terrible?

So in doing more research for Gundam Thunderbolt, I have found some interesting things. From what I've heard, the second half of Gundam Thunderbolt develops its own alternate U.C. timeline, extending the one year war into 0080. There's also some shit way too advanced for 0079 to be included in any form in order for the world building to make any sense such as the Atlas Gundam. Which looks like something more out of the 0090s.

I can see the Nu, the head is incredibly similar.

It's a pecular design for sure, most of the parts are very rounded.

So finished the Graze Custom the other day. As the third time building this Moblie Suit I have to say.... I still like the build and the Kit. The Graze itself holds up well as a Mobile suit 'Platform' and really hoping as we see more of Gjallarhorn They deploy more Graze variations. The only real negative I can list about the kit is that it only comes with the same basic weapons that all Graze units have and of course the box shoes off the op 02 weapons which I have on backorder. The neat thing about the Graze is how flexible a design it is.

Saw the newest episode of IBO today and wow, this was pretty intense. That dude in the white clothes in the opening now fits into the story. And we got two more awesome mobile suits!

The ship battles in IBO are pretty great, and I love the maneuver they pulled off in this episode, with going towards the enemy ship but barely getting near it so the CGS boys could get on.

And for those who were complaining there weren't enough female characters, well there's this dude and his posse in the show now, possibly joining the main cast.

To be honest this one girl is the most annoying character in this show yet. The one who paints her toe-nails in the first scene and wants to eat the ship because... it looks like a shrimp?

Yeah sorry girl, at this point I just hope Mika kills you as soon as possible. Which might not happen because well, they do start negotiations next episode. Forced negotiations, but still.

I like how they really seem to try and convey how battles in space might work. Also interesting that Space rats isn't just some name but directly refers to those with whiskers and that it's not a common or even welcomed practice aside from those wanting to exploit child labor/soldiers.

Yeah the space battles, including the ones of the ships themselves are pretty great and enjoyable so far.

I sense so much shipping because of this. Literally two ships, one with all boy soldiers and the other trained female pirates.

LOL shipping. Wondering what sort of interactions both crews will have each other. It doesn't seem like the girls on the other ship come from the same child solider background, as the ship leader guy seems put off by the CGS dude talking about the Auto-Vijana.

then again, I'm a legs man, so I'll like almost any girl giving me a big ol' flash of what I like.

and I like how she chimed in "that's a tasty name" when she heard Biscuit's name. I laughed a little bit because I've been seeing people lose it at how unorthodox his name is, and to see that the writers are willing to poke fun at it, it puts a smile on my face.

Eh, I don’t know, maybe she’ll grow on me, but she’s definitely the first “WTF”-character in a show which had a good lineup of characters so far. But maybe we need one of those to shake things up a little.
