As much as I enjoy Wizard, and Haruto, the pacing is downright atrocious and although OOO may have been an awful story, the characters were fantastic from near start to finish and it had a very satisfying conclusion. Fourze I'd probably rank at the bottom otherwise for how weak the last one and half third of the series was, but man that first third was near flawless. WOW SORRY I clicked the last post on my CP like usual and it took me back like three months into the thread, sorry for necroing it :S |
Blade 37
Hmm, Blade King form seems to be stronger than Joker. although, I know he's holding back, since he doesn't want to hurt Hajime. But Joker doesn't seem to stay down for long so maybe they're on even ground? Tiger Undead finally reveals to Kenzaki that his King Form drew the Joker's power out. And then Tachibana and Dr. Hirose reveal they knew that as well. Along with the fact that if Kenzaki keeps using it, he'll lose his humanity. So of course they're gonna go and tell hi-Damn it Hirose! Stop sending Trials after Kenzaki! TELL him what's wrong! That said, Tachibana does seem to be trying to calmly dissuading him from sending psychopath monsters after his friend. And he gets suspicious of Dr. Hirose's intentions. I think. So according to the Chief, King form was meant to be a fusion of just the King card...but Kenzaki's went overboard with it and added thirteen fucking cards into the mix. Really, Spider-Mutsuki? Kidnapping a blinded Amane?! Well, you are a criminal now...I like how Tiger Undead's just hanging out there now. And how she just casually threatened to eat Amane, who I'm feeling pretty bad for, at the moment. I think Kenzaki giving Mutsuki his Rouzer was a pretty bad idea...Not for him, but for Mutsuki. I mean the things probably going to implode or electrocute him or somet-...eh, nevermind Kenzaki. Carry on. Trial F is some shit. Or maybe just careless. Kenzaki managed to knock him to the ground long enough to escape untransformed? Huh... Oh shit! New form for Chalice! Fight!!! For your humanity, Hajime! |

Blade 38
I like Hajime's new mode. Color's are weird though, but I don't dislike them. I do think the bow and arrow weapon was cooler than these knives though...but then they combined into this awesome bow so I guess I'll take that criticism back... Ah, of course Tachibana would arrive late and think Hajime beat up Kenzaki.Hajime doesn't seem to care much though. He's Joker no more! Finally Kenzaki get to meet Prof. Hirose....and is rightfully pissed at him! And finally we get to see the Undead being released. Apparently there was someone of higher rank than Chief Karasuma. I don't remember if any mention of him was made before... Aha, Mutuski can't even use the damn rouzer without a category queen. Considering his record...I dunno if he'll ever get one. I still don't know why the Tiger Undead just hangs out with him. Maybe she has nothing better to do? Nice that Amane stumbled her way back to Hajime. Seems Kotarou more or less can get along with Hajime now, which is good, I guess. What...Mutsuki's beating Kenzaki? I'll chalk it up to Kenzaki essentially just waking up. Yeah. Honestly, he didn't even need to go into King form to beat Mutuski. Jack form seems like it'd be enough. I hope Tachibana soon recognizes what an evil fuck Prof. Hirose is...At least he's listening to reason now. ...Okay, this must be the danger of King form. Kenzaki's acting more like the Joker Undead. NOW Tachibana realizes he;'s been working with a psycho. Took long enough. Too bad he fell for the old get locked in the freezer trick. Good thing he had his Rider Belt.And...Prof Hirose has powers? What is he an Undead? Hajime's being generally friendly...he's smiling. This is bizarre. But hey all four riders together. Sorta. Mutsuki just calls himself a loser and runs away. So...par for the course. So...this Prof Hirose is a crazy trial clone. Makes sense...And the big boss of Board doesn't seem particularly benevolent. Of course now that he's revealed not to be who he thought he was, does Trial B think about his...well, Prof Hirose's daughter. |
Finished watching episode 5-7 of Decade. Much better episode with Kiva and absolutely loved the Ryuki episodes it definitely makes me want to watch Ryuki. Yeah Decade is really different than I expected.

Very much like the series Kamen Rider OOO Wonderful: The Shogun and the 21 Core Medals was full of inconsistencies and was just in general, a largely pretty shit story however everything else I liked about OOO is blown up a thousand fold to the point where I want to write valentines letters to this film.
Eiji was just a flawless protagonist, the cast seemed to hit some kind of sacred balance as their chemistry was spot on in a way unprecedented in the series that made every character exchange both heart-warming and so enjoyable your face hurts from smiling. Plus the film just had so much heart, I loved how it was able to achieve huge and truly cinematic action sequences and set pieces, while still having such huge emotions, it wasn't a melodrama thank Christ but it was still deeply affecting. Whether it was the actually good child actor playing Shun and has story with his mother, whether it was Hina's feelings about Ankh and her brother and the importance of human contact, or whether it was just the profound effect someone as incredibly loveable as Eiji has on the people around him it really was a film that delivered on all fronts. Except story...but I never expected it too. I'm just so glad as well that finally a film learns that there is a difference between crowd pleasing and fanservice. Basically, in short, I loved loved LOVED this film and in turn the film really made me realise just how much I adore the series as well. Plus, I'm glad that once again this series shows the world it knows how to do a damn right fantastic ending. Just wow. |
29 of FOurze,

I'll judge it for myself when I get around to it. |
So Black Four was another great, albeit goofy, episode.
I do have some reservations though, like I'm in two minds about how I feel about Black's powers. On the one hand I like how well they constructed the raw power of Black, the fight scenes in this are really stylish and well constructed plus it's cool to have a hand to hand style for his powers rather than like energy beams or weapons but I can't deny that it's a lot harder to get invested in a karate chop than it is those aforementioned SFX powers. Everything else was great though! |
Blade 08...annoyed me. Yeah Black's story may be very basic and require leaps in logic but it's direct and coherent and I can't tell you how refreshing that is after the likes of Kuuga, OOO and to a lesser extent Fourze. Blade on the other hand lacks that kind of streamlined storytelling, it tells us a lot, in a steady feed but usually holds all the important details to itself.
Yes, I know there was a war between Humans and the Undead, yes I know they sealed them in cards but did Kamen Rider forget the How and Why in the six ws? Because they are kinda important to the story and I know OOO didn't answer them and Kuuga didn't really but that doesn't make it okay. Another criticism I have is that the show doesn't feel as big as the plot suggests, a Battle Royale to me suggests a war basically, a massive and epic clash but so far Kenzaki and Tachibana have felt like they are in the same position as any other Rider, dealing with the MOTW. We've yet to even have a singular identifiable villain, unless that Wesker cosplayer is our big bad. It's lucky I enjoy all the Riders! |
Watched Decade 8 and 9. Enjoyed the Blade tribute episode really makes me want to watch it. I can't wait to get to DiEnd next episode I loved him in Superhero taisen. Really enjoying this series.

Yeah. Blade has a mystery angle to it, but it does actually answer it's questions. The big bad isn't sunglasses, though, don't worry.

If the Blade episodes incentivised you to watch Blade, then more power to you, but I thought the DCD interpretation was horrid. |
I just hope the show hurries up, I'm a fifth of the way through and I don't know anything yet.

I have Kamen Rider ZX and Kamen Rider G and plan on watching both today after family leaves. Onward towards adventure!
|
To be fair I totally knew that the Kiva episode wasn't like Kiva but totally took themes throughout the series so I figured the same from all the other episodes too.
|
im watching kamen rider den-o and ryuki so far there both awsome!

Kamen Rider ZX. I loved it, honesty. Now I see why people like the Showa era of Kamen Rider so much. But what I enjoyed more than the movie itself was the history lesson it gave in the begining. I loved that, I loved learning about the origin of the series and who played who and why that happened when it did.
The movie's worth watching just for that alone. |
Finished Fourze, was actually better than I thought it would be, now I do not care for the way they copied W in terms of Kengo , But at least they didnt wait a whole episode before trying to bring him back.
Also watched first episode of Den-O, this guy is a wuss, all he has done is get taken over by a demon, and beat up by a bunch of thugs. Granted I know the demon is an Imagin and its Momotaros but seeing the show is wierd :lol |

Episode Five of Black was fantastic, almost like Hammer Horror as done as a Kamen Rider episode. The true strength of the episode is it never once felt like it was going through the motions, or baiting the audience, it had a story it wanted to tell and it will tell that story, not undermine it by meeting audience expectations. I dig the attitude, at least when it presents episodes this good. Despite not ageing all that gracefully, Black is really stylishly directed and always really interesting visually. This episode especially had so many memorable moments, it was just awesome.
You forget, with a lot of modern series moving quick fire from action scene, to gag, to melodrama and back again how important it is to set the scene and how much that can add to the enjoyment, Black just has great atmosphere. I loved the slow build up in this episode, the way the mystery came together and how it was able to achieve horror and didn't make me want to slit my wrists at the same time like Kuuga did. I have to say though, whether it was just a bad translation or terrible writing, the general lack of sympathy towards this clearly very damaged young girl was unintentionally hilarious. When my Sister has one of her panic attacks, my first port of call is to violently thrash her and shout, 'pull yourself together!' |
Blade 39
So we get Trial B/Prof Hirose's true form. Mutsuki sure is pathetic as the Tiger Undead points out. Or Spider-Mutsuki I guess. The line between the Undead and Mutsuki is kinda blurred at this point. And Hirose finally gets to see her dad again. Well...a close enough proximile of him. H barely acknowledges her and instead beats up Mutsuki. Something I both scold and approve of. Hirose still wants to talk to him though. And Tiger Undead's spying on the whole thing. And she's too...upset. Either from her father's (clone's) reveal as Trial B or from the fact that Kenzaki and Tachibana didn't tell her that he was alive earlier, even if they probably thought it was for the best. I sort of like how Hajime decided not to go this time, because he was too busy enjoying humanity. Spending some quality time with Amane and her mom. And looking through some sort of old family videos, Hirose seems to have figured out her father's clone's true nature. |
Episode 40
Okay, we're getting there...It opens with Mutsuki miraculously saving the day sort of, by inadvertently rescuing Hirose from her father. Before getting his ass kicked as soon as he tried to attack the others. Why was Leangle considered the Ultimate Rider, again? Hirose can't bare to delete her old memories. Even if they were used for a twisted use like Trial B. And....Hajime can apparently play guitar. Amane's mother seems upset about something though...And BOARD boss is forming Trial G. And he knows Tiger Undead's spying on them and decided to test their new Trial on her. Although...he made one fatal flaw. He cloned Trial G from Mutsuki. You don't do that if you wanna win. Though it still gave Tiger Undead a thrashing. Mutsuki didn't seem to care when she passed out in front of him. She's like your only friend now dude, don't look at her like a smug tool! He did bandage her up, and placed her on a couch to rest, so good on him for once. Ah, right they don't know if Prof. Hirose is dead or not yet. good that they immediately noticed it was a trap though. Kenzaki and Tachibana are awful at hide and go seek. I'm not sure if Trial B actually cares about Hirose at this point. He seemed to go nuts the whole time when she didn't acknowledge him. Hajime seems to sense that the others really need his help this time. He's gotta interrupt his and Amane's tea ceremony time to do it. Hmm. I suppose Trial B does care for Hirose after all. Or at least remembers the final wishes of the real Prof. Seems his programming was corrupted by the Board boss. Well, he redeemed himself for now. Both him and the real Prof. Hirose. All the Riders of this show fighting together for once! It's pretty awesome! Poor Hirose' though. Even if it was a clone, she just saw her father die in front of her. The BOARD boss seems to have some sort of card up his sleeve, literally. Still didn't show what it was though, so I'm assuming it's pretty bad news. That advertisement for the Blade song collection was so stupidly hilarious. "If you don't buy it, we'll beat you up! Send Kenzaki something to eat, he's hungry! Make sure he doesn't starve!" |
Watched Decade 10-13 which was both the Faiz and Agito tributes. I enjoyed both of them I'm loving Decade, DiEnd and Kuuga in these episodes. Enjoyed the Faiz one a lot and the Kuuga/DiEnd rivialry for the Agito part.
|
Just watched episode nine of Blade, although the action is nowhere near as bad as Kuuga, the shows over ambition is usually to its detriment, rather than something worth respecting. You should build your action around your budget, not build your action and stretch your budget to fit it. And the more 'epic' the show tries to be the less I'm enjoying the action. Kinda almost makes me wish it would get a 'remake' so everyone got to be as badass as they are constructed, as the show fails to truly portray it.

Black 06, it's really impressive how much this show makes sense. I mean yes it's very goofy - I mean look man if you're gonna make things float using string don't let it catch the light in the shot and it's quite often quite out there, like many of these older series are but the Golgom's actually objectives always make a lot of sense, they always have a goal, rather than just being there to scare civilians. It really does feel like a genuine, evil organisation with hands in many pies with a wide spread power and influence.
Really the only criticism I'd have with the storytelling is if one show NEEDED every arc to be two episodes, it'd be this one. Usually by the time they've set the scene, and established the stakes they have very little time to wrap it up and often the suggestion is that once the monster is defeated, that is the end of it, even if the monster was just a pawn in a much larger game for the rest of the episode. Honestly, I really like the action in this show, sure it isn't some huge SFXfest but I love the sense of motion to it all. One of the main reasons I dislike Blade's action is because it's edited to have motion, rather than actually having motion, and the fighting is edited so choppy you're barely seeing anything and even when you do, the fight choreography is oddly stilted. Black on the other hand usually has the fights taking place over a wide space, with people getting thrown through candy glass or polystyrene walls and it's amazing what a difference it makes, it's an extremely cheap device, but I actually think seeing Black fly through walls or whatever gives a much better sense of power than Blade's choppy mess. Plus Kotaro is just awesome, I love how much the show gives him to do without transforming so you are really convinced by him in the suit. There are a few times where it's been a bit dodgy though, like quite often Kotaro is on the brink of failing to save someone and you're left wondering why he doesn't just transform so he can guarantee their safety but that aside, this guy is a boss, I love it when a protagonist actually feels connected to the Rider stuff. |
Den-O 2-
Pretty good, Im likin Momotaros more than I am Ryotarou. :lol |

I dunno whether to replace Blade with Den-O, I'm ten episodes into Blade and I'm just not sure I'm feeling it. |
If only I could remember when Urataros shows up in Den-O.
I'm also watching Black, but progress is slow. Not because of the show, but the thing with watching subtitled shows is I have to actually watch it at all times or I just flat out miss what they're saying, but I'm usually doing multiple things on the computer so my instinct is to just leave it playing in a different tab. |
Quote:
Also it probably doesn't help that Black actually tries to tell a story each week, so it is actually pretty important you catch the dialogue. |
I wouldn't drop Blade, but that's because I personally enjoyed it (In my personal top 3 for Rider series).
