I still feel the more normal setting plays to the strengths of the episode. Why start a season with an end of the world threat? As much as I love Chrysalis, she feels like a step down from Discord, who ruled all of Equestria ages ago. Rather than being super erratic on the scale of escalation like they typically are, they didn't try to pull out a show stopper to top Tirek, but instead brought along a more grounded villain who's still a proper threat. Hopefully her escape builds up to something great in the end, rather than playing their hand at the beginning like they did with Discord and Sombra (Whether you liked him or not).

Spike comedy? How quaint

New ponies.
The brief reveal in the beginning made me spill hot soup in my lap because I didn't anticipate it. I loved this episode~ |
I think I'm going to wait till CobaltSky's reaction is released on YouTube to watch the new episode. Possibly...
|
Your call~
|
Huh... I was so wrapped up in my hate for dream-episodes while watching this, because I identified this one being such after Applebloom first "woke up", that I completely forgot that ponies dreaming usually means best princess gets an appearance.
It also helped a lot that this one wasn’t one of those "it was all a dream"-episodes where crazy stuff happens nonstop and in the end the protagonist just wakes up. |
But Celestia didn't show up in this episode...

I'm excited for EG3. And the other MLP movie that will actually be them as ponies. And the rest of Season 5. |

What the fuck Gosei...?
|
I thought about posting it, but I think it would've made me a hypocrite, so thanks for doing it for me~
|
New episode was nice. Nothing really special, but it had it's moments.
Strange for winter themed episode to air in the spring, but I guess a near-year long season gap throws off timing. |
Did not expect another CMC episode so soon.
|
I guess they just couldn't get enough of them crusaders.
Still, I thought it was cute. I kind of saw the plot coming at the halfway mark, but I liked the episode overall. |

Also, is it just me or does Michelle Creber's Apple Bloom voice sound a tad off as of late? |
I think she sounds fine, but then again, I'm the same kind of derp who liked Scootaloo's singing, so I might not be the best judge of vocals.

So Tanks for the Memories happened... Doesn't quite dethrone Pinkie Prider as my favorite episode but I can at least say it's a close second favorite. DAMN THAT WAS A GOOD EPISODE! :D
|
It really is a fun episode. It was charming to see how far Dash would go for Tank~

Well that came entirely out of the left field didn’t it? Awesome episode by the way, typical Discord. |
Celestia.
I love her so much. Even for a Discord episode, she was my favorite part :lol |

But you're right, she was rather casual in this episode. I liked it. Last time we saw something like that was back in season 1. Discord's the real star of the show for me though, I love how much fun stuff they do with the character. If I ever need one single piece of MLP-merchandise, it's gonna be a Discord vinyl figure. I heard Kojima was amused by the Metal Gear-reference as well, that's awesome. But Treehugger... *shudder*. Never want to see that pony again. Discord should've followed his impusle and tossed her into the sock puppet-dimension. Not that's she's evil or something... but characters like that creep me out. |
I couldn't help it! First appearance in S5 and it's not just her going "Twilight. Go here and do the thing."
Her being fun and energetic is so cute! I love it! I'm not a big fan of Tree Hugger, but then again, I just don't like hippies in general. I did find how she saved the day funny, though. And poor mailpony :p |
Today's episode was... well, pure, unrestrained and undiluted fan appreciation, it was kind of awesome.
I'm sure I missed tons of nods, but it was a really cool episode. :) |
If there was one thing the episode lacked, it was more Celestia!
I seriously enjoyed the episode. Tons of fanservice, yes, but it was quite fun and energetic. I'm dying for more~ |
My major complaint, and I've said it on DeviantArt, TFW2005 and other forums, was that Vinyl Scratch didn't speak.
|
I think Vinyl not speaking was a good choice, myself, but I've never been a big Vinyl fan.
I loved the returning characters and jokes. Mmm, I can't get enough~ http://i.imgur.com/YS8k7YX.gif |
