As Jetman goes on, keep your eye on the side characters. You will see a few familiar faces.

GaoRanger 24: GAOSILVER IS FREAKING SUPER COOL, AWESOME, BADASS, AND FREAKING AMAZING!!! I LOVE HIM. Okay so I might be a little excited from this episode. I just love how he felt from his hatred that he switched to wanting to help the GaoRangers and got empowered by his Power Animals. I always have loved this suit, his weapon, and his laser pool finisher is so freaking amazing. I can't wait to see more of him. Also him just slaying Master Ura in his first appearance is so fucking badass for a Sixth Ranger. I'm perfectly happy adding another Wolf to my favorites. =)
Expect GaoSilver to just to the forefront of my signature now, since it'll be for both one of my favorite Sentai Heroes and Power Rangers. |

After a month I finally watched another batch of Maskman episodes. This time it was 37-42. I figured out one of the things I do not like about this show, the rangers cannot beat a monster without all five of them together. Sure, it makes sense for a team oriented series, but it leaves no room to allow a ranger to be out of the picture be it fight something else, being injured, taking care of other business, etc, that makes it quite redundant every time. That and I still fee like I know next to nothing about Momoko and Kenta. The one with X1 was pretty good though, but it feels lazy that his girlfriend, who was a pianist, was taken by Tube, and then the next episode is about a pianist that has nothing to do with the X1 plot. There was so much potential that could have been utilized here had they connected these two episodes together. Instead, they are nothing more than filler. In fact, this whole show has been filler. In the last 30 episodes I have watched , I believe only 4-5 episodes were not filler.

Well, I just finished Maskman a few moments ago (SPOILER WARNING) and I'm not really sure what to think about it. The ending just left so much to be desired that it is a shame because the last several episodes were really well done. The final battle with Zeba just felt like a generic Monster of the Week battle with a standard mech battle that nothing felt like it was an epic conclusion at all. Even the ending seems very whelming as Takeru and Ial finally get together and then she just says goodbye to him like it was nothing.
It also doesn't help that the characters received little to no development throughout the entire show. Takeru and Akira were the only ones that seemed be developed, and they had all of the best episodes. Hell, the three parter when Akira becomes Unas is probably the best arc in the entire show, but it also came in far too late to have any overall effect on the series. The biggest problem with this show is that is just repetitive to the point that the battles are not even that interesting to watch. None of the villains are given any development as they are just there, especially Okelampa who doesn't even get a story or anything. He just randomly shows up out of the blue to make a monster grow and then just disappears until the next time he needs to make a monster grow. They could have had at least one episode explaining who or what he is. Like the main fights, the mech battles are on rinse and repeat and every episode had to have one. These became the most tedious 85 seconds portions of each episode as they were just flat out boring. Overall, I am glad to have finally gotten to watch the show subbed, as there are some good moments, but with everything said and done, the ranger suits are the only highlight of the series. Everything else is as generic as you can get. Unless you are down to your last several shows to check out, I would recommend watching a different series instead of this one. Hell, if you want to see a series from the 80s, watch this one's successor Liveman, as it is far more entertaining and enjoyable. Oh yeah, dumbest moment ever. "Igam is a woman?" NO **** CAPTAIN OBVIOUS!!!! The only way you wouldn't have known that is if you were both blind and deaf. |
10 episodes into Jetman. God Ramen/Noodle Dimension was every bit as amazing as I had hoped. My only problem with this series so far is that the mech battles are so short. It doesn't make me like the series less because of the short battles, I just know i'd enjoy it even more if the battles were longer.
Anyways, since I enjoyed Jetman and Zyuranger the most so far, I'm thinking I might go back and watch an 80s Sentai next. I love the suits in Bioman and Flashman, so I'm thinking maybe them (that is, if there are subbed versions available - i'm not sure what is and what is not subbed). Any suggestions? Preferably the ones with the most likeable characters, best enemy designs, and best mecha action (and most similar to Jetman and Zyuranger). Bonus points if the main characters have outfits that are the same colors as their suits. |

Also, I just looked at the list of subbed shows. Bioman is only half subbed, Flashman has 1 episode done, and Turboranger isn't even on the list. Those are the ones that stood out to me as looking the most interesting :\ I also need to go back and watch more Battle Fever J. After starting Jetman, it made me want to watch more of that series. |

Sun Vulcan 14. The best part was the slapstick between Vul Panther and Armadillo Monger. I was laughing my head off at it.

Megaranger does a great job with showing the high schoolers and the things they worry about. I think Miku is really cute and Kenta reminds me of myself in high school. On episode 24 and loving it so far.
I am also on episode 28 of Boukenger and it is better than I expected. The development of the rangers (or any character) is not fantastic, but I have the feeling that they are progressing towards finding the most dangerous precious in the world. So that is cool. But it is a little upsetting that there has not been a ton of development for the rangers. Eiji is my favorite so far and he has only been in for about ten episodes. |
Google V is still om my mind !

GaoRanger Episode 25: This was very interesting, I figured that was Tsuetsue transformed for a bit and it makes sense that she had Ura's traits with her too. GaoSilver my new favorite is total badass, and I love his bike too. The Karaoke part was a lot of fun, and I am so much like GaoYellow and this episode just furthered that. GaoHunter I think is my favorite Mecha right now it's just so badass and awesome.
GaoRanger Episode 26: Rouki vs GaoSilver, I was waiting for this fight. It was so awesome. I like the revelations in this episode a lot. I also love the emotion from GaoSilver and the pain that he feels from everything he did and that it's hard for him to rejoin the GaoRangers till he's feels redeemed. It was great seeing the team work together all 6 of them. Master Ura returning was a surprise I wasn't expecting that. I don't think this is the end of Rouki which is good because I love him as a villain as much as I love GaoSilver as a hero. I am intrigued for more. |
GaoRanger Episode 27: I enjoyed Tsuetsue's and Yabaiba's upgraded forms they look really cool, and have more power which is good because I don't think they could the GaoRangers. I loved the Training sequence with GaoKing and GaoHunter that was really cool. I like how GaoSilver still feels responsible for everything but I hope he gets over that. GaoMuscle Striker is fucking awesome I figured we were going to get that. Woot woot Three Megazords =)

So, I had a little Kakuranger Marathon today and watched up to episode 39 and I LOVE THIS SHOW. The Kakurangers are such a wonderful team. They're all so loveable, but at the same time they are really cool and heroic. Also, it's good that the show has taken a serious turn in the 20s. It still has some goofy episodes, but my that action is super-exciting and the characters impress me much more in those episodes then before. I'm also glad the storyteller won't appear anymore- not that I was particularly annoyed by him, but he just didn't fit the current tone of the series anymore.

Well I just completely missed putting my summary of episode 28, I'll see if I can. GaoRanger Episode 28: It was great to learn more about GaoBlue's background. The Bowling theme was very interesting and I like how he learned a new technique to help save the world from his mentor who was having issues. GaoSilver was fun trying to stop the bowling ball with Pool moves. Also using GaoMadillo as a Bowling Ball was awesome too. GaoRanger Episode 29: Well it was great to get more focus on Tetom for this episode, I find her very intriguing. Also GaoDeers is pretty badass able to stop the 1000 Year Evil too. I am happy that it seems that GaoSilver is moving past his guilt, I know he blames himself for a lot but he needs to move on and try and do as much good as he can for the world. I loved GaoRed taking out the Tombstone Org in two seconds with a point blank shot was awesome. I can't wait to see what happens next. |
I'm at the midway point of Sun Vulcan. Here's my thoughts so far.
The appearance of the New Vul Eagle - Takayuki Hiba - could have been done so much better. The boss battles are rather boring. No change up on them at all. Misa Arashiyama should have been in a bikini EVERY episode. Damn, she rocked it. It's still strange to hear Vul Eagle II talking in his suit. I'm sure I'll get used to it. |
Well today, I've started Dairanger, since I've been wanting to watch more of older Sentai and already off the bat, I could tell that this series was going to be kind of a pain to get through but also a very great experience.
|
GaoRanger Episode 30: HOLY FUCKING HELL! That ending was something else with GaoBlue! I absolutely loved GaoSilver's spirit in this episode that he was determined to beat out the evil spirit and not turn into Rouki again and defeated the spirit was great. I loved how the team tried their best to stop GaoHunter evil and how Ura's plans have succeeded, he's definitely a fantastic villain so far. He's also upgraded and I can't wait to see what happens.
GaoRanger Episode 31: This was an intense episode, with the deaths of Yellow, Blue, Black, and White was insane to see in a Sentai. I liked that Silver and Red kept fighting even though it wasn't going to do much. I loved Yellow, Blue, Black, and White scene in the afterworld was brilliant for them to sacrifice themselves to help the people who are living. The Falcon Bow was totally awesome and I love GaoFalcon. I wonder how the other came back but wow I love GaoIcarus between that and GaoHunter I think are my favorite Mecha so far with MagiKing and Ryuusei-Oh. Great fight with Ura, and great to see they finally destroy him, and the 1000 year evil spirit. Can't wait to see where this next Highness Org takes us. |
While I'm waiting for Abaranger to get more episodes subbed I'm trying to get through KR Blade again. Not many episodes in but It's ok so far.
|
GaoRanger Episode 32: The new Highness Org is like Ura just with eating things lol. The new Org doesn't impress me yet but his new Duke Orgs are something else I mean they aren't Tsuetsue and Yabaiba but they are powerful. I enjoyed GaoSilver actually getting a chance to relax. I also liked that they were cocky and got their butts kicked so they learned they have to be less reckless and have to get stronger against these new Orgs. The Falcon Summoner is awesome still. The little kid I think I remember this plot from Wild Force but still this kid I like better than what I can remember of Wild Force. If this is what I think it is I am excited for it. I am also glad that Red convinced the other's not to be scared especially after they came back from the dead. Getting even more intense and I love it.
GaoRanger Episode 33: Well I'm glad those two new Duke Orgs didn't last long, they didn't have enough spirit to them besides just having the advantage because of rapid fire weapons lol. I enjoyed the Gaorangers tactics during this fight and how they took them down. GaoSilver and Tetom finding Fuutaro and finding the animal stone, yeah this is the Storyline from Wild Force I remember, I know who he is lol. The only part I didn't like was GaoIcarus taking down both Duke Orgs without them showing what happened to GaoHunter, I mean did Shirogane go "Oh GaoIcarus is here, you guys got this, I'm going to check on Tetom seeing you later." or something? Lol besides that I still love GaoIcarus. Intrigued to see where Master Rasetsu (I think that's his name) goes. |
Now:
Flashman Abaranger Shinkenger Next: Goggle V Maskman Hurricanger Besides of course, ToQGer |
GaoRanger Episode 34: The episode that gives you feels! The Charcoal Grill Org just wanted to give people good food but no the Orgs needed him to be evil and forced him through mind control to be bad and when Gao Yellow and Gao Black broke the spell the Orgs killed him! I hope bad things happen to Yabaiba, Tsuetsue, and Mouth face that I can't remember! I really enjoyed learning more about Gao Black in this episode and Gao Yellow, and both of them having compassion for the Old Man even though he was an Org, showed great depths of their characters. Weird that GaoSilver wasn't in this episode but it must be one of those the sixth Ranger isn't there episodes.
|
Was that Org played by the dude from AbaRanger/Kamen Rider Blade/Battle Royale/every other thing Toei does?

GaoRanger Episode 35: Um well this was kind of a ridiculous episode that was magically saved by GaoRed. Also glad to see GaoSilver is actually in this episode to help get the Royal Beast Blades back from being silverware. This was kind of a lacking GaoWhite episode with her throwing a tantrum at the guys playing around with her teasing her but I do understand that she's younger and it was a little to far for them. I am happy it got resolved but the issue she learned was kind of weird for her. Anyways I am glad the Falcon Summoner can summon 5 Power Animals by itself that made sense from when I first saw it's design. I see we're finally getting more on the mystery of Fuutaro which is good. |
About 5 episodes left of Sun Vulcan. I know this series has taken a lot of heat for not being too good, but, I think it's pretty good for an early SS series.
|
GaoRanger Episode 36: Tetom is very hot-blooded lol, the girls on this team are crazy. I am glad that got resolved with GaoSilver. These last few episodes have been crappy for GaoSilver he barely's done anything, I mean he was important in this episode but not much lately. GaoGod coming back was awesome I love the Power Animals that make him.
GaoRanger Episode 37: Yabaiba really took to the stage in this episode, and it's great to see them give one of the main villains character development like they did here. I also feel really bad that he had to see his brother die but I was glad he fought with his brother and he was ready to face the GaoRangers head on even if it meant his death. He's definitely one of my favorite villains from Sentai. Also this was a great episode for Gao Yellow and Gao Blue two of my favorites as they try to find out about Fuutaro. It's just interesting to see how these two interact together because Yellow thinks of Blue as a child but then Yellow was acting a bit childish too lol. I also loved when Yellow dodged all of Yabaiba's attack when playing a game and not realizing it was fun. I loved Yellow and Blue's combo attacks when they switched weapons. Also interesting that Fuutaro recognized Gao Silver when he was out of his suit, definitely brings on more of the mystery even though I already can guess the answer too but still waiting. Definitely a better episode than the last two. Though I like when Yellow gets the focus episodes. |
Sun Vulcan is done. Now which series do I go to next? Battle Fever J, Megaranger, or Goseiger? I'm saving Gaoranger for last.

GaoRanger Episode 38: This was great, hilarious, and heartbreaking. The Animal Tamer Org stole the Narrator's lines and that was fantastic that they broke the fourth wall kind of like that. I also loved that the Narrator was happy he could narrate again. It was heartbreaking to see GaoKing beat up GaoHunter and GaoMuscle and that they rangers couldn't do anything because they didn't want to hurt the Power Animals. Fuutaro saved the day with his magical powers though since I am pretty sure who he is, it makes sense. This was great for everyone this was fun.

Started on OhRanger, or the first of 8 episodes that are available to me.
It was a decent start. I have sort of a love hate with series that don't let the team transform in the first episode. On the one hand, it lets me get to know a little about the characters without having to spend 30 episodes. On the other, that pretty much means the action in the first episode will be mostly random flailing as they get their asses whooped... Oh well. It was quite fun. The serious aspect certainly wasn't underplayed, since the very get-go was surprisingly intense. It makes me curious over how things progress and how the series looks post writing change. |
Just finished Zyuranger, Boukenger, and Megaranger.
I enjoyed all the series, but I don't know why anyone would say that Zyuranger is one of their favorite seasons for any reason other than MMPR nostalgia. The weekly kid in peril troupe got old pretty quick (and they used that all the way up until the season finale). Still enjoyable though. Megaranger is great and if you get a chance to watch it, do it. Kenta and Miku are my favorite characters because they felt like some one I would have actually gone to high school with. Boukenger was an okay series. I feel like they phoned some of the episodes in in the middle of the season and Akashi (Chief) was far too cool all the time. I felt like he got the absolute least development of any character. Even Mr. Voice got a little bit more than him, I felt. Regardless, they were good and now I have moved on to Kakuranger, Jetman (re-watch), and Magiranger. |
GaoRanger Episode 39: Urrgh Fuutaro/GaoGod really annoyed me this episode he took the Power Animals away and blamed humans, it's not the GaoRangers fault for all the shit the humans caused with destroying the Earth, they just got the powers recently. I think he's a little quick to judge but it is early with finding out Fuutaro is GaoGod, I also didn't like he listened to the Orgs for so long. Well I'm glad GaoSilver got his finisher in this episode. Well I'm going to continue because I need to see more and hopefully GaoGod isn't an ass.
