I was thinking more of hunting space monsters by using motifs and styles of animals that are good hunters; tigers, wolves, sharks, lions, falcons, animals like that.

But the puns only work in spoken language, Hiragana/Katakana or in cases line Engine, where it was used both ways. So while it might work for Juuohger (which I still find unlikely), it clearly doesn't for Kyoryuger as the Kanji is the one for Beast, like in Jyuken Sentai Gekiranger or Hyakujuu Sentai Gaoranger. Besides, Gun and Beast are not the only uses for the "Jyu" pronunciation. It could also mean the number 10. Which would make Gaoranger the 110 Sentai in theory... which it isn't.
Besides, Toei's puns are usually more... awkward sounding, like with Hurricaneger and Harry Potter and the Philosopher's stone.

Interesting idea, but I kinda doubt it, considering how safe and traditional the shows after Go-Busters were. I don't think they'll try something that unusual and risky just now...

Btw. adding to the Gun/Beast discussion: If they would have made a pun on guns, it would be called Denjuu (or even DenjiJuu) Sentai aka "electric gun", not Zyuden, which would read as "gun electric".

Suzu, we're just having fun with puns. Is it probably just a coincidence that the "Jyuden" Sentai transform using "Denjyu?" Yes. But it's a fun one. So please, join us in the land of fun.

(But also... come on, if you think this is different than Toei's other puns you're going to have to come up with a better argument than "it only works when you say it out loud." Cause... that is how most puns work. Especially when the pun is found in the title of a show made for Japanese toddlers who probably can't even read hiragana yet, let alone kanji.)

Um... just because Kyoryuger and Juuouger might on the off chance have used "Jyuu" as a pun doesn't mean that every instance of the franchise using "jyuu" must be a pun.

I've only seen the first three episodes Hurricanger because it's not subbed -- but are there a lot of Harry Potter references in it? If so, that's adorable and makes me want to watch it right away.

What series should I watch before checking out Akibaranger? I know characters from Jetman, Zyuranger, and Dairanger show up, but do any other characters make appearances? Does it have any large references to other series in particular that I would miss if I haven't seen them?

Speaking of Akibaranger, which parody do you guys prefer? Akibaranger or Carranger?
