After War Gundam X is a personal favorite of mine with the only real downside to being it's short length as the series was cut to only 39 episodes from 49. It was really the first time Gundam tried a Post-Apocalypse style series following a Earth-Colonies war that wasn't set a hundred plus years after said conflict.

Gundam X is underrated definietly grabbing the blu ray when it comes out

Episode 9 of IBO was great, as usual. While this may be the slowest episode yet, I do think the closing of some story threads and foreshadowing made it a great episode. I have no idea what the hell that ceremony was, I presume it's Japanese since there were Japanese characters and the traditional big robes the guys were wearing, alongside kneeling next to a tiny table. Is it a Japanese marriage ceremony or was it something else? Whatever it may be, the main characters now have 4 mobile suits on their side instead of just Barbatos and the Graze. Also, Orga is now a family man.

I think the partying scene was one of the most humanizing scenes in the series so far. Orga admitting stuff while he's drunk, more talk of sexual frustration, a brotherhood and trust continuing to deepen. Orga has gotten a lot more vunerable or these past few episodes, and its great to watch. Now only if Mika will do the same. But it looks like there's flashbacks in the next episode so we may finally get an answer as to why Mika is so loyal or what Atra finds so damn attractive about Mika besides him without a shirt. Also, lol at Atra learning to be part of a harem.

The sexual frustration thing coming up again really makes me wonder what it will lead into. The younger boys saying women suck makes me think that they'll start to learn to respect women more as they interact with the Turbines. But it could also be my sneaking suspicion of Naze dying/sacrificing himself and leaving all his wives open to Tekkadan. Or maybe that one dude who keeps bringing it up will rape a girl or something. As if this series wasn't dark enough.

Also, all this talk of war makes me think this series may or may not get a second season depending on how it ends. Because it would be just disappointing if Tekkadan didn't reach Earth yet and war broke out and that was that.

Pretty sure I read somewhere that IBO was due for two seasons, unlesss that was more fan speculation....

So, I was at my local gunpla store, and they had Robot Damashii Unicorn Destroy for $42. is that a good price? I've been interested in getting some Robot Damashii Gundams.

what is it with you guys and forcing ships on the show? as far as I know, the only relationships anyone has planned by the writers all involve Mika. :/

and the sexual frustration comes from the fact that they're boys growing up with hormones out the wazoo. and it was only one kids that said girls are dumb, and then proceeded to have his temples assaulted. the series doesn't need to get darker than it already is nor does it need something so forced as a scene of rape. fuck, wasnt there some controversy about Mikazuki killing people and now there, we don't need Berserk levels of dark.

plus, even if Naze would die, it'd be really shallow for ALL the women to just suddenly be open. not to mention it'd be a massive waste of a character.

just relax, not every series needs to rely entirely on ships. not every character should be thinking with their pants anyway.

eh, it's ok. You can get a lot of them for cheap on Mandarake, unicorn included. I think I've seen it in the 2500 yen range before.

So Another great episode. There is so much spin-off/tie-in material with this series. Laying down this prediction: Gundam Kimaris will be piloted by Gaelio Bauduin as it does match his color scheme.

I'd totally be down for once too, but I do really like the Wing's ver Ka design. It's not something I'm preordering or anything, but I will most likely pick one up at some point.

Got caught up on Iron Blooded Orphans. Its fine. Thats really all I have to say about it. I like some aspects of it and others I just find kinda boring.

It's just not doing anything for me. It feels really kind of boring and like "look at this show! its dark but fun but mostly kinda dark!" feeling from it. I just don't feel invested in any of what's happening with it.

I mean, if killing people was dark, Shakespeare's work makes Berserk look like Happy Days.

Yup thats definitely a problem I have with the show. It got tons of potential with the basic premise but it doesnt really does anything with it. The whole notion of them being child soldiers and using the same cruel methods to overthrow the adults that they had to endure themselfs is just kinda glanced over. They never have to face any realy consequences because of it. The show just kinda glances over it. Same with Mika being nothing more than a puppet for Orga. So much potential for character stuff that has been completely unused.

Funnily enough your reasons for not liking it are the same ones Mari Okada detractors cite as proof she's getting better and IBO is great. :lol

I like IBO. A lot of the complaints with the show show far have been unresolved plot lines we don't know the end of yet. Mika being loyal to Orga? A flashback in a future episode. Reprecussions? Well if Gjallerhorn following Tekkadan wasn't a repercussion for Tekkadan's actions, then surely the threat of war would be.

I agree with Power. It seems a lot of the criticism is basically "They haven't fully explained everything yet." Guys we're nine episodes in. Give it time. Not everything has to be made crystal clear immediately when a show is going to run in the what, 25 to 30 range?

If they get to them one day, cool. I'm the last person who isnt able to come around on a show during a later time. Thing is though right now the things that are there are just extremely boring. I dont dislike the show for not doing stuff like I mentioned eventually I dont like it because its not doing them right now. Because doing them right now would be the thing that is actually interesting.

It took them nine episodes to get their first business partner. And those where 9 boring ass episodes that got interesting thanks to one or two action scenes with the Gundam.

There is nothing in this show right now that makes me care about the protagonists. We dont get into their heads at all safe for some really minor throwaway things. We dont learn how they really deal with whats going on and how this effects them psychologically.

And the worst thing of them all is that the show expects me to like them. Which I just cant. Up until episode 9 orga was a how asshole who was using his best friend for his own gain and still the show expects me to see him as this cool big brother figure. Same with how they go to power. They shot a guy point blank in the head. A guy who couldnt even defend himself at that. Still the show expects me to find this to be a good thing and root for Tekkadan. But I cant because they are just a bunch of psychos.

I think one of the most interesting comments I read about IBO, is that ultimately the show is more interested in making Tekkadan a character than it is in developing any of them individually.
And while it's true that some of the cast is lacking so far, I do think their group feel alive and manages to be engaging.

Had to think about it again how I think of them as a unit but I doubt I would like them much more. The times I get really invested in the show is when they use the Barbatos. The fight are great in the show and I love the music. But as soon as the fight ends I start to get bored again.

I think that tends to be a problem for a few fans reguardless of the series. Like me, while I love gundam Wing's designs and fights the plot just seemed a little convoluted to me then again I havent watched it since I was like 13 so theres that XD

Yet IBO has failed to do something in 9 episodes that Destiny accomplished in it's first episode:

Make me care about and empathize with the protagonist.

Yeah I love Epyon,Deathscythe Hell Custom,the Tallgeeses and the Wings but the show's...not great and the OVA and novel should be wiped off the face of the Earth because of how terrible they are.

Same with both of you, LOVE almost every Gundam design from the show (and Tallgeese of course) but the show itself was just blech, and Endless Waltz was horrible.

Makes me wish they'd do like a Dragonball Kai type-thing and redo the series with the same Gundam designs, but instead of shortening it just make it better.

Replace Heero Yuy with Sousuke Sagara,give Relana a brain,have Zechs form the White Fang and attempt a Char because of Epyon screwing with his brain and for the love of Ra don't make the world governments disarm.

Do that and Wing would be awesome.

And you could also have Noin kill Wufei and jack his Gundam cause fuck Wufei:p

You can't have Zechs pull a Char. His Charness is already at maximum capacity.

You can when you have a guy become a terrorist and decide to drop a colony on earth despite it being completely out of character and pointless because the writers needed a villain for the last arc of the series.

Oh, G Gundam was great.

It's slow, preachy, and utterly inhuman.

But YMMV.

Mika's past is still something theyre keeping a tight lid on i wouldnt rule it out just yet ibo hasnt had a chance to stretch its legs yet...
