On the subject of Chris Ecclestone, did anyone see him in the Name of The Doctor? I can't remember him popping up in any of Clara's "lives"

I think it was just a back shot of a random actor wear his coat apparently he was a voice in journey to the centre of the Tardis

It's a pity, but it sometimes seems like he's destined to be a frequently overlooked Doctor. He was on the show for such a short period and the international audience didn't really catch on until Tennant's run. Outside of the long term fans, I kind of get the sense that Eccleston is going to be largely forgotten. :(

And he was such a brilliant Doctor. So mad and bubbly, while being dark and moody. I miss him...

I don't think I'd go that far. I think Smith has put in one of the best performances ever as the Doctor.

One of many sequences that shall forever be debated by fans, along with The Brain of Morbius and "The Doctor is half-human!"

Smith is extremely good considering his age, but I don't think he can jump between serious and light hearted the way Eccleston could. I prefer Smith overall as the Doctor but there's just something about Eccleston's Doctor that glues me to the screen. Plus it's hard for me to fully appreciate Smith these days as I've been very indifferent to the last two seasons.

I should go back and watch season 5, that was a hell of a good year.

Eccleson never really lift an impression on me one way or another. Episodes from the season did, but not Eccleson himself. Dalek, and The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances, left impressions on me. But you could've put another actor in there and it would've been the same.
The first new Doctor to leave an impression on me was Tennant. The Christmas Invasion I remember because of him, and his many speeches. Tennant was very good with the speeches and the talks.
Smith was good. I liked him, but didn't love him, and that had alot to do with how much I hate Amy. And when Clara came along it was just far to late.

No we aren't. There are 2 episodes left to air this year: the 50th anniversary special and the Christmas special. Series 7 finished earlier this year with The Name of The Doctor. Sorry to burst your bubble.:(

That's sadly underwhelming. So we had The Name of the Doctor and now the The Day of the Doctor. It's a shame they used Death of the Doctor for SJA or we could have completed the trifecta.
