We could make it fairly inexpensive and go with 1/144 scale. Make it easy on ourselves and just pick a toku character of your choice for the first go, and go more specialized for future builds.

A post apocalyptic theme might work out nicely, those with the skills will have the chance to go all crazy, meanwhile the rest of us can try out new techniques; such as weathering, damage, and so on.
I'm open to any idea if we're able to get it off of he ground. |

Like "The Gauntlet" the PG strike freedom group build?

That was just an example, we could start with the grandaddy HG Gundam.
|
There's a plethora of cheap high grades out there we could use.

Would give me an excuse to finally build by G-Xiphos. But I think we should lay down a few ground rules, like taking a photo of the contents before you get started and such.

In all seriousness, I agree on the need for ground rules.
Proposed rule #1: Go as far as you want with the kit, OOB, paint, modifications and so forth. Whatever you want, goes, as long as the base kit falls under the approved category. Proposed rule #2: We might need a time limit and a set start date. |

I'll put together a thread under customs and we can leave it open to suggestions from everybody.
|
Here's an example of a group build that Gundam Eclipse just finished as a reference:
http://gundam-eclipse.net/topic/5066040/1/ |
So they chose a class of kit and everyone just picked what they wanted to build? That's cool but I was under the assumption we'd all do the same kit and put our own spins on it. And it doesn't look like anyone posted any sort of progress pics either.

I have seen people post WIPs during a group build, but we can probably post what we're working on and how far we are in that build process in whatever thread we set up. They're a great way for people to see you're work and get feedback on it. |
Well then would you like to do the honors of creating a thread for suggestions in customs?

Though it seems pretty unanimous that everyone wants to do HG kits. Also what do you think a reasonable time frame should be? |

But I think HG kits would be the most affordable and easy thing for all of us. There are some fairly cheap MG's out there too but HG's would be more readily available. |
I'm fine with HGs as the general theme of the build.
So a few ground rules before I make the thread: I need a show of hands to tell me how many people are gonna participate, also tell me what kit you'll be building. I'm thinking it should be a kit that hasn't been snapped together yet, and people should take a picture of just the contents of the box and maybe the date just to show that it's a new kit. As for the time frame…I'm thinking till the beginning of September seems long enough. |

I dont mind doin a group build. And i think i have just the kit i want to build spotted on JUNGLE :lol
|
I'm down, so are we all picking a kit and having to buy the other kits others get or are we each just building one kit?
and I'll go buy the God Gundam from the HGUC line since i've been meaning to get him for over a year now and keep putting it off, gives me an excuse to buy him |
I was going to buy a ton of Gunpla at SDCC, but I might be able to participate, depending on when(If I buy Gunpla I would rather do it at SDCC, but we'll see).

I'm goin with the HG GM Striker.I like the timeline too.Not only gives the person time to get the materials, but also time to build and paint if they want to.
Edit:So I ordered from GundamPlanet.com,and they are just a little overpriced.Only by about a dollar or so,but I'm willing to pay it.Why? Cause I just found out their warehouse is in New Jersey,so I'm getting my models Thursday.A 4 day wait is not bad at all. |
I have a shameful backlog I should pick from, but this gives me an excuse to pick up some kits I've been eyeing. I'll be building the HGUC RX-75 Guntank.
|
Not much of a kit builder, but I'll see if I can get my hands on something to put together... maybe something from the Cosmic Era series.
|
While I'd be willing to participate, the biggest issue is that I don't have a quality camera, so all my pictures will look like I took them back in 1985.
|
So everyone agrees that it should be a high grade group build?

Yes, High Grade it is. We each pick up a kit of our choice and go wild with it!
