That sure was a clip show! That preview would've surprised the Hell out of me if I hadn't already looked at the magazine scans. :V
But yeeeeeeah, Ultraman Max! (and Kaito!) Max is great. |

can you imagine if they got other fan favorite Ultramen on there, like Tiga?

I forget, is Mebius the one that didn't protect a damn thing?

UltraMan X Episode 8: Well now I want to watch UltraMan Max, because Max was kicking butt this episode and was totally awesome. I enjoyed this going into Daichi being a genius and how that he was a bit overconfident showed him being a bit flawed which I like because it's good to show that and show more parts of his character. I also enjoyed the alien manipulating Daichi into making armor that trapped him there and being able to used. It was a lot of fun seeing Max dealing with being triple-teamed and Daichi dealing with finding a way to break the trap so X wouldn't be used against Max. I liked the level of drama and danger that was there. X and Max teaming up was great just like Zero. The both kicked ass and I love X's new armor and Max's attacks were fun to see for the first time. I also enjoyed that Max took on the appearance of Kaito, I like that he cares that much about the person he bonded with to take his appearance and always great to see returning actors as well. Overall great episode and fantastic to see UltraMan Max for the first time (for me); I can't wait for more especially with returning monsters next week and can't wait for later for when Victory and Ginga show up on here.

I signed up for a Crunchyroll trial so I could watch this week's episode now instead of waiting until next week. I'm normally fine with the delay, but I'll be damned if I'm going to wait seven days for the return of Ultraman Max. On that front this episode did everything I wanted and more - I never expected to see Kaito actually wearing his DASH uniform and everything; that was such a huge geek-out moment for me. Max was no slouch, either - I loved the trick with his Maxium Sword and it was great to see him go all out with the Max Galaxy again. I kinda wish we could have heard his Color Timer blinking one more time, but I can't complain since everything else was done so well. Not to take anything away from X, though. I really like the newest armor set and he and Daichi had their fair share of cool moments, too. But oh man, it was sooooo great to see Max again. |
I kinda wish Max didn't have to spend most of his time getting an ass whooping.

UltraMan X Episode 9: This was hilarious, I love the crazy rugby episode! I hope Isamu is used more and his alien friends make a come back because they were great this episode. It was interesting to see them use a relative of one of the main characters. This is definitely a filler episode but it was hilarious. I also like the fact that it did focus on that some aliens just want to live peaceful lives on Earth and not invade it. I like how this show is going into differences with the aliens and creatures and it's not all black and white. Also I love how UltraMan X was fighting the four monsters like a rugby match too that was fun. That was one hell of a one-sided rugby match till Isamu got inspired but I love his character and how he grew in this episode. I can't wait for more this series is a blast.

Ultraman and Rugby, together at last! This was a pretty silly episode but I liked it. It sort of reminds me of the Gan-Q episode of Ginga.
I still really want an Ultra-Act of Valky. He's cool. |
UltraMan X Episode 10: I enjoyed this episode a lot because it showed more about the aliens or monsters interacting with people and them being peaceful. I enjoyed that Daichi and X didn't have to destroy this monster and that it only went out of control because XiO didn't understand what was going on with it. That X was able to calm it down I like a lot and that he didn't have to turn it into a spark doll was great. The Monster got to be with his family and that was fantastic. I also want to mention that I am really loving the characters of the XiO team a lot; Rui is adorable, and the rest of the team is interesting too. I really like that this series is going into the gray area with Monster/Human relationships and that it's not just all the monsters and aliens are evil especially with this week and last weeks episodes, so I hope by the end they find a peaceful way to co-exist with them. Like always I can't wait for more.

UltraMan X Episode 11: This was a great character episode for Daichi. I loved how it went into what motivates him and why he wants to bring Gomora alive as a Cyber being. Also his interactions with Asuna were great. I love how all the characters are concerned for Daichi’s well-being and how they have his back at the end for them all getting ready to be scolded. The fight with King Joe was intense and I love that it took a while and that Gomora was caring about Daichi’s well-being too and that’s why it didn’t react earlier. I really relate to Daichi with being smart and pushing myself further than I have too while worrying everyone who cares about me at times. I really enjoy his character and the entire XiO team this is a great series so far. I can’t wait for more especially with Yoko from Kamen Rider Gaim playing a villain next week and my other favorite UltraMen (Victory and Ginga) Guest starring in the episode after that. This show is so much fun!

Cool episode. They did an alright job of giving the characters a little more development. Well, Daichi and Asuna at least.
Cyber Gomora is cool and I hope we see more of him. As much as he gets reused, I still really like King Joe. But the monster of the week wasn't really the focus of the episode though so I don't mind. |
UltraMan X Episode 12: Well Yoko from Gaim is still an awesome stunt actress, her fight with Asuna was a definite highlight from this episode and it's great to see Asuna kicking butt too. I loved Daichi willing to go through such strife to save X from the Digital Space, also great to learn more about his past with his parents too. I love the Exceed X Form and the Rainbow power of it. The action was amazing the Exceed X Form kicks ass. I love how Daichi disappeared and then snuck back in to conceal his secret identity I think it's a lot of fun how he's been keeping it a secret so far. Well I definitely can't wait for Shou next week.

Exceed X is pretty cool. I think it sort of came out of nowhere though, it wasn't well explained.
If you didn't watch it the first time, Tsuburaya put Ultra Fight Victory back up to tie in to next week's episode of X. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QUvhfhJAE-8 |
After I kinda forgot to watch Ultraman X for a month (don't even know why myself) I watched episode 9-12 today. And all of them are awesome, I’m really in love with this show at this point.
Episode 9: Funny little episode. Rugby aliens, awesome. Episode 10: I really like the idea of a rather friendly monster, this episode was really well done. The town’s people are also really entertaining. Episode 11: Cyber Gomora materializes and fights for the first time, and I love this suit. Episode 12: New Demaaga looks cool, and we finally get a real villain it seems. And it's freakin Yoko from Gaim, how awesome is that. And her actress is as badass as ever. I read somewhere that Gina Spectre is actually a familiar character in the Ultraman lore and that she returns in this show, that's kinda cool. I'm not too keen on Exceed X, the little rainbow blade looks too much like a toy to be taken seriously and the overall suit looks worse than regular X. Still a neat looking suit though. So it seems in the next episode Gina will make her move again - I wouldn’t be surprised if she sticks around to the end of the show. |
So dunno why mobile link you tube don't work but
Here a trailer for ultraman 2016 film https://youtube.com/watch?feature=yo...&v=IjOvth3O2Vs |

I've seen that trailer before, I have not heard anything from it though. It might be a movie for the 50th anniversary or it's just a very nice trailer.

In terms of CGI, it's no Pacific Rim, but for Japanese standards it looks like some actual effort was put in.
About Ultraman X, I'm glad that Juda's siblings Mold and Gina are getting more recognition, as they were only in Andro Melos before. |

Well the trailer was put on Youtube back in August, and since it's only coming up for discussion now I think its fair to say little is probably coming from it.

Got caught up on X and it continues to be a fun little episodic sci-fi show for kids. The characters are fine and the action still looks great. I really hope with th new threat we finally go into a more ongoing narrative. With not that many episodes left it would be a good time to do more in that regard.
And it was kinda hilarious how Daichi pulled the X-Lugger out of nothing without any explanation to what it is :lol |
the X-Luggar could be a physical manifestation of Daichi's willingness to overcome his hardships.
I mean, the Ultraman universe is rife with bullshit. |
Even if it is. Its my first Ultra Series and I found it incredibly lazy how they did it.

like, that should be a thing Ultraman avoids to do even if it could hurt him more. Quote:
also, I kinda like it. from the Ultraman stories I've seen, one of their biggest storytelling mechanics seem to be symbolism. |

And even with Tendou there actually was an explanation. An incredibly stupid one but it still was there. Tatsulot in Kiva and Axel Form in Faiz are much worse in that department :lol |
like in this case, I'd say don't worry about it.
this isn't like Power Rangers or Sentai where there's a plot where they get their upgrades. |

To be fair, I completely love the Universe Loves Tendou way he got the Hyper Zector. Also it doesn't surprise me there were other sentient beings like Kivat in Kiva with Tatsulot and I figured that Kusaka managed to get the Axel Watch or whatever from some Smart Brain place I mean the Faiz Riders could have a ton of upgrades lying around in Smart Brain lol. I thought Drive did the Upgrades some of the best way because each upgrade he had a purpose and actually needed each one to combat the Roidmudes. Still in the crazy worlds of Tokusatsu upgrades can come from anywhere. |
I didn’t find the appearance of the Xlugger to be particularly lazy or badly done at all.
We know why the rainbow has a meaning for Daichi, he retrieved X from digital space, their bond got stronger, boom: Rainbow dagger. There are a lot of worse form transitions, even in shows which I love. Gaim for example: Yomotsuheguri. That lockseed which summons its armor from a black cloud instead of a zipper, which somehow is a fusion of Budou and Kiwi, which somehow can summon Overlord weapons. No one knows why, Ryoma literally pulled it out of his desk and that’s it. Yes the character using it had tons of development, but the form itself still came out of nowhere. I don’t like the Xlugger as an item in the show because it looks too much like a toy and I’m not really into Exceed X as a form either, but I didn’t find the transition lazy. |
I always thought Tatsulot was related to Castle Doran, like, Tatsulot was a Doran Wyrm that Jiro and Co. had instructed to assist Wataru when all would seem lost or something.
