As I screamed giddily on twitter, I am all about this.

Regardless of what anyone has to say about Superman Returns, I think the movie's quality can hardly be blamed on him. For his part I thought he was an excellent Superman, at the very least better than Cavill's brooding Supes. To see him make a triumphant return on Arrow excites me to no end. Whether this version of Ray puts on a suit or has powers or not, whatever. I have nothing but faith in the Arrow-verse at this point to be superior to anything that could possibly be on the big screen.

I don't mind the costume, but I'm sad that Gail's moving off the book :(

Her Costume is alright. It looks far better than the original New 52 costume :lol

Yeah its sad Gails moving off the book. Green Arrow also gets a new creative team in October so I´m sure I will drop that one once it happens xD

Costume design is fine, artwork is just bad, but Gail needed to leave that book. It's been treading water for too long.

Could someone explain what's bad about the art? The proportions? The colouring? The inks?

Mostly the fact that she looks 12. She looks like a kid at a party dressed up as Batgirl. She does not look like the Barbara Gordon I'm used to.

My only problem with the art is that the proportions look off. Her right leg looks double the size of her left leg und her right thigh looks to be the size of her entire torso.

Yeah, I kinda like the sound of the lighter tone but the art style doesn't look like a continuation of the current Batgirl. It looks like an ongoing about the one from The Batman or something.

A 12 year old girl does not have the proportional height of 7-8 heads this Barbara is having, nor hips that wide, though.

You're talking about the second picture (that shows her costume details)? Something does seem off about that one. I won't say her right leg is double the size of her left, but it does seem too long.

For the first one...the lengths look about right, but the right thigh does seem a tad too large. Not a major issue though, I think the first picture is okay.

Anyway, comic artists have never been known for respecting proportion, so relative to the average, I say this is pretty good. :lol My opinion, anyway.

I'm talking about the costume design, the suggested body language, and that ridiculous selfie image. You'd think this was New 52 Year One: Batgirl Goes to High School! Or something, it's very disappointing considering where the character is right now.

Don't take this the wrong way but frankly I don't really understand why you're nitpicking what I do or don't like about it. I just don't like it, it's very uncharacteristic of Babs in a modern sense. I don't like the costume necessarily, but it's fine. I can almost forgive it despite looking like someones poor Halloween costume imitation of the Batgirl suit. It's like Stephanie Brown cosplaying as Barbara Gordon's Batgirl at a party.

But I can get over that. I can't get over the insinuation that the character will appear or act much younger than she actually is despite being a fully fledged and strong woman. I think this art work and the design for that matter completely miss the mark for the character. I don't generally have such strong reactions to a new design for a character, but this one is just plain opposed to the actual character.

I'm sorry I was nitpicking. I just wanted to get the idea clear. A bit of context, I don't read the comic at all, so when you said artwork is just bad, I had to know exactly what you meant. Because I could not really understand how people would find the artwork from a purely technical sense horrible.

It's really just that. We're thinking on two different wavelengths. I thought about the design from a completely neutral point of view, you took into account the actual interpretation of the character. You're not wrong. I just wanted to clarify that.

Because if from a technical point of view this was horrid, then most of comics should be considered atrocious.

So now that I understand, it makes sense to me that the interpretation and style of the character was considered to be inappropriate to Batgirl. Not the technical aspects of the artwork.

I'm pretty sure the image where Barbara is taking a selfie is just a variant cover. DC's going to be doing that.

It's still sad to see Gail Simone leave the book, though. I know everyone else said it, but I was a fan, too.

The Selfie variants are in august and the new Batgirl starts in october. So that will probably be the normal cover for the book.

And I decided to read that book now. Tha artist seems to be a pretty awesome girl for making fun of the way most people draw womens chests in superhero outfits :lol

I'm generally a fan of her work, she as a person is pretty significant to my marriage actually. But I feel like Batgirl had been treading water for some time. So I don't mind the creative shift.

was watching more of young justice on Netflix and noticed the phonebox that Artemis used to teleport to the cave was a blue one. thought that was amusing.

How so?

Well, I had her sign a copy of Brightest Day Birds of Prey #1 for my wife. She was at the C2E2 show in 2010 and I had her sign it/write a marriage proposal on there for me,

"Kristin, Will you marry Jordan?

and I framed it and gave it to my wife (then girlfriend) after she came back from a trip out of the country. So we still have that book framed at home. We're been together for almost 7 years now, been married nearly 3, and are expecting a baby in February.

Well, I've only read the first three trades, so I'm not as up to date as everyone else, but I have enjoyed what I've read so far.

Superman is taking a selfie with Batman. Batman seems to be having trouble smiling, so Superman is lending a helping hand (or fingers, if you want to be literal).

*Begins taking notes.*

It could very well be that they just mislabeled the cover. It really doesn't make sense to me to have to selfie covers in two consecutive issues.

Even if it isn't, I don't mind. As a member of the current American urban youth, I can personally tell you that virtually everyone takes selfies.

Don't even get me started with that. ;lol
