But this is Power Rangers. We don't have to follow the format the Sentai we adapt used.
Any series could be dark, even if it's a light hearted Sentai.

Exactly. Dark doesn't mean you have to be crazy violent, have melodrama up the ass, have nudity, drugs, drinking, etc.

Pretty much. We straight adapted Samurai and hopefully learned a lesson from that. And I also don't think there will be a dark Power Rangers either. There might one that has more mature themes in a few episodes. Like when Kendrix died. But an overall darker MMPR? I don't see it happening. PR is, essentially, a toy commercial with a storyline. And that's fine. But when you start thinking of it as a show more akin to Walking Dead, Breaking Bad, or Agent Carter, where the story is more important than toy sales there's a problem.

You also have to remember their target demographic. They release things for adult collectors who've been there from the start, but their key demos are kids under 12. So they aren't going to go dark and ruin that.

Are you not enjoying the show or can you confirm that children in the target audience aren't enjoying the show? Cause what is silly to adults is cool to kids. What adults can't enjoy, kids get a kick out of.

Far too many adult fans of the show forget that Power Rangers isn't for them, it's for kids ages 2-11. Dark themes don't play well on kids' shows, especially on Nickelodeon. So PR will never be dark or more mature, because the target audience will always be aged 2-11. Let the kids be kids and enjoy kid-like stuff.

But there really is no reason to move though. A ton of shows run for 20~ish episode seasons. I actually prefer shorter seasons because they allow for a lot less filler. Also where else would Power Rangers go? They don't have any other option at this point. Nickelodeon is the safest and best option for them right now.

P.S.: Professor Cog was destroyed in Super Megaforce. They would find some other reason to explain such villains or simply cut them out (It might hinge on whether Saban has the rights to Go-Busters and their characters). Plus, there is no guarantee that Kyoryuger vs. Go-Busters WILL ever be adapted, and the odds still don't look favorable at present.

I thought Dino Charge was doing pretty good on Nick? It looks like the ratings are pretty good. The show is getting over 1 million views with ratings so far and Episode 7 had over 2 million views. Kids must be watching the show if it's doing that well. If Power Rangers was on CN then CN would put it at 5:30 in the morning after a episode of King of the Hill.

The last new channel that was attempt was Vortex by Saban Brands and it failed. It is tough to launch a new channel and putting Power Rangers on a channel that might not be carried by major carriers is a risk they might not be willing to take.

I think Vortexx failing had a lot to do with the general downturn of Saturday Morning cartoons in general, and the fact it had barely any new material. They showed reruns of PR and shows taken from 4Kids.Tv.

I agree with this. A new channel marketed towards kids need new content at times where kids want to watch TV. Saturday morning shows are a thing of the past, sadly.

He would need to invest enough to support an entire channel for at least 18 hours a day, seven days a week. That is a huge investment and not worth it just to give PR a new home when it can air on an established channel.

P.R. should not be dark (that unofficial, far darker, alternate timeline video from awhile back kinda proved that one), but it can have some sense of seriousness and a tad bit more drama. The chatter among people has shifted to whether or not they should change the station from Nickelodeon and going a little further with tone. Only if you do what Transformers is planning with Combiner Wars. Don't they have a new, "marketed-to-the-older-crowd" series coming to Machinima? Is this anything P.R. could take a chance on?

If Namco Bandai makes a video game for the upcoming Power Rangers movie on the PS4, XO, Wii U and PC, who do you want to see it make it? Platinum Games is my top choice to make a PR game. I want a PR game that can both fans and casuals can enjoy like Transformers: War for Cybertron. They did the Legend of Korra game, but I hear that game was rushed out by Activison. I'd rather they not make any more MMPR video games. If the last twelve or so have taught us anything, it's that no one knows how to make a decent one anymore. There has not been a playable MMPR game since The Fighting Game and The Movie back on the SNES and Genesis.

tbh, the rangers don't use that many weapons so I don't think Platinum would work with the power ranger method.

it's the same problem with Kill la Kill and Berserk. they wanna do them, but Ryuko doesn't have a variety of stuff to work with and the entire point of Berserk is that Guts tears things to pieces with his weapon.

I'm just thinking that Power Rangers works best as a stylish, beat 'em up style game, which is what Platinum does well.

MTV is not a channel that parents want their children to watch. Never has been. And now they don't even play music anymore; it's more about pregnant teenagers and teen-themed shows.

MTV is aiming for the teen and punk demographic (And, as of late, it's been losing their punk demo). Always has been, always will be.
It's the audience that's basically trying to say "I'm too old for that kid crap" while rebelling against their parents.
It's like, the exact opposite demographic that'd be willing to watch PR.

A channel thats made its name recently from reality shows about drunk people on a beach, teenage mothers, and various other teen to adult based shows... Would a childs show about spandex superheroes and giant robots/monsters work on that? Hell no. I dont even think an Akibaranger adaptation would work there.
