You're missing the vital context that the base is introduced in episode one... and it self destructs in episode two. It's beautifully hilarious.

I only just now realized the brilliance of helmet designs like OOO, Zero-One, and Saber; Having it be a solid helmet with only the face part having details, looking like a mask.
You could almost say they're... masked riders. |
Well, I mean masked rider is technically the translation, it's only because of that one adaptation that some fans don't like the name!

It took me way to long to realize that Buster's eyes are the great big slash effect of a giant sword coming down into something. It's pretty cool though.

Speaking of Saber, I think the burgundy-ish parts on Slash's suit is supposed to resemble chocolate, the beige is vanilla(or cookies like biscuits and crackers), and the white is whipped cream considering his default choice of book is Hansel & Gretel. |
So Exceedraft episode 8. There is a child guest character that appears in that episode. Turns out that kid went on to be Ultraman Zero, aka Mamoru Miyano.

(this is mostly a joke)
You've heard of the Kamen Rider Number Theory, but what about the Sentai Number Theory? This version covers all the seasons between the two anniversary-crossovers Gokaiger and Zenkaiger. Go-Busters: Their first mecha is Go-Buster Ace, and if you know anything about playing cards, you know that ace is just another term for 1. Kyoryuger: The Gaburevolver has 2 barrels and holds 2 Zyudenchi. ToQger: The team's logo is the letters TQG, count 'em, 1, 2, 3 letters! Nininger: This one's right on their faces. The core ranger's visors (and the transformation shuriken those visors are based on) have 4 points. Zyuohger: I could take the easy way out and say the team has 5 members, but most Sentai teams have that. Instead, consider the cube: A cube is connected to the number 4, because it's made from squares which have 4 sides, and 6, because a cube itself has 6 faces. And if you average 4 and 6, you get 5! Plus, when a cube is on the ground, only 5 of its 6 faces are visible. Kyuranger: I hear you saying "Fairy, how are you going to connect Kyuranger to 6 when the name literally means 'nine rangers'?" But wait, does Kyuranger have 9 rangers? No! By the end, they're a team of 12, and what's half of 12? 6! And if that's too much of a stretch for you, look at their suits: 6 ridges on their shoulder armor, and silver rings at 6 locations: collar, belt, forearm, wrist, upper leg and lower leg. Lupinranger VS Patranger: Counting both teams and X, this is the first series since Go-Onger, and the only one in the period this theory runs for, to have exactly 7 rangers. Ryusoulger: The number 8 pops up all over the place in the studs on the mecha, especially Blue and Pink: 8 studs on their backs, 8 studs on their legs, 8 studs on Ankyroze's tail, the list goes on. Since the studs come in sets of 4 or 2 individually, many places where multiple parts come together create the number 8. Kiramager: For this one you need to either watch the show or spend probably too much time wandering around on the wiki (which is what I did). But the Kanaema Stones, if turned right, are shaped just like the number 9. |
I simultaneously love and hate this. You magnificent bastard.

I only just realized that Ark Scorpion is a retool of Ichi-Gata and not the base Horobi suit.

I'm not sure if this was intentional or not, and I this is probably old news to most people, but it just occurred to me today that Zi-O's name, beyond the whole king of time thing, might be pulling the same "20" shtick that ZO's is, since he's the twentieth Heisei Rider? Like, he really might've been Decade 2 the whole time!
Changing gears real quick, I also learned the other day that according to Arakawa, Juuru's name in Kiramager is actually derived from joule, the unit of energy, which is a bit surprising, if still thematically appropriate. Like, the specific interview that comes from doesn't specifically say it isn't from "jewel" as well though, so I'm going to go ahead and assume it's simply derived from both until further notice. |

Yeah the ZI-O being "20" was mentioned in very first .5 episode too.

So it was! I'd chalk my forgetfulness here up to it having been a couple years since the .5 episodes, but strangely enough, I think I remembered basically every gag/bit of trivia in here except this. :lol |
Mitsuru Karahashi has respectfully played a fallen fencer in both Super Sentai and Kamen Rider. For Super Sentai he was Juzo in Shinkenger and in Kamen Rider Saber he was Hayato/Calibur.
|
So it only took me until we got the higher quality pictures from the Official Rider Zukan but... I only just now realized I've been thinking the Bat Magia's ears were its eyes when it had a tiny bat face all this time.

Two things I just realized about Elemental Dragon:
Elemental can refer to the elements, but it can also refer to something in its most basic form, without anything added or refined (for example, elementary school). So Primitive and Elemental can both refer to something raw and unrefined, Elemental makes it sound more positive than Primitive does, they convey the same meaning but in a different light. And in a way, that's exactly what Touma did to the story of the dragon, he took the same idea and put it in a more positive light! The other thing is just that Touma literally made a book which is also what he does as an author. |
I noticed a pattern to the colors of the Zenkaiger's eyes: Those who form ZenkaiOh's left sides have orange eyes, while the right sides have green eyes.
And how they stand in the opening and roll call mirrors their combinations, with Juran and Gaon standing together and Vroon and Magine standing together (and Kaito in the middle separating the two duos), and the left-side member standing to the left of their right-side partner. I just love when toku has that attention to detail to make everything fit together. |
Looking at this Super Hero Time Intro Compilation, and it had me wondering
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zuLslVuJghs Did Kobayashi write Shinkenger, OOO, Go-Busters almost back-to-back-to-back ? That's some incredible output |

I'm pretty good with not getting a V-cinema, though -- Megamax and Final are about as perfect as comebacks get! |
There is a youtube channel that compiled some of, if not all of Evolt's voicelines.

Re-watching episode #2 of Stronger when it turned up on youtube a while back, I have been haunted by the scene of Jo's operation and what we can see of the mechanisation of his body during the procedure.
You know, I've taken apart a fair few amount of Walkmans from the '90s, and I know that those rubber bands used around wheel mechanisms degrade over time. I'm worried that maybe Jo Shigeru is sitting around somewhere unable to move like Tik-Tok from Return to Oz because the rubber band inside him has snapped. |
NinninComic's left shoulder is a comic book. How did I not notice this until now?!?

Saber has taught me that it's very easy to just see something as decorative ridges and only later realize "wait those are book pages!" XD Primitive Dragon's left shoulder and Jaou Dragon's chest and shoulder armor are like that too.
|
Speaking of Saber, I only just learned the other day that the blade sticking out of his head is also meant to evoke a pen tip, too, thus representing both the main design themes at once. As though I needed more reasons to love Saber's design.
|
I'd just realised that In Space they kept the same voice for the morpher as Megarangers. They even kept the Mrgaranger theme song easter egg too.

In Aruto's flashbacks to the day his dad dies in 01, as a kid he's wearing a shirt that says "Giving thanks for what we have" in English immediately before the explosion, and... wow. WOW that is cruel oh my god

So about the four kikainoid zenkaigers. Their respective motif robots all were part of the five legacy sentai robots that were ranger keys in Go-Busters VS Gokaiger. The five were:
Daizyujin Gaoking Magiking Daibouken Gekitojah |
Makes me wonder when we're getting the Gekiranger Kikainoid...

TwoKaiser’s motif series (Ohranger, Shinkenger and Gokaiger) are from the same main writers (Noboru Sugimura, Yasuko Kobayashi and Naruhisa Arakawa) as Gokai Silver’s motif series (Zyuranger, Timeranger and Abaranger).
