Yeah, that stupid number theory hasn't been a legit thing since after Fourze when people started trying to twist around what it actually was starting with Wizard. It went from being about the number of henshin trinkets (1 card, two memories, three medals and finally four switches) to anything people can desperately grasp to in order to keep making it a thing (a hand having five fingers, an open lock looking like a 6, a shift car bent looking like a seven, an eight sided eyecon, etc.)

(I know they've written other stuff, but I just cannot forgive them for Ninninger. That much filler should be illegal, and almost nothing about the series felt fresh.)

It just makes me effing cringe. One mistake and I'll drop this series. Gaim damn me.

That's...extreme. But things to keep in mind:

- Ninninger was a couple of years back now.

- It was Shimoyama's first head writing gig. There's been more than enough time to improve.

- Go watch the GoRider mini-series. He was the head writer for that as well. It's literally the best thing to come out of Chou Super Hero Taisen and hits its beats perfectly about 90% of the time. (Final climax was weird tonal whiplash but it is what it is.)

I feel he gets the Rider side of things more than the Sentai side of things. And even then, there's been more than enough time for improvement. Plus he's done plenty of single episodes for Gokaiger and Go-Busters. Him being attached kind of made me skeptical too, but I'm willing to give it a chance.

And that's coming from someone who despised Ninninger.

So Zi-O was who Kamen Rider Aqua was fighting all along!

Definitely watched Gorider. And damn were the KaitoXYoko moments worth it. One of the best secondary riders imo coupled with the only female rider in history imo to bear the title BADASS. And they nailed it. Also, the story is quite intriguing, and then comes everyone's favorite Shin Dan Kuroto doing his best. Coming from someone who loooves Gaim and Ex-Aid

If that is the case, maybe he was more Rider-oriented. With Sentai...lol I dunno. Maybe he was just following the damn trend of overused Teds and Eye aching filler that adds more padding to the story when it could have been a couple eps shorter.

I don't think Shomoyama's going to be a big creative force in Zi-O. With Shirakura and Takebe producing, they probably wanted someone who would write what he's told to write and not rock the boat much. You don't put Shirakura and Takebe together on a show as producers unless you're going to give them incredible creative control over the show. They're basically the two people who made Heisei Rider what it is today. I think they'll have more creative control over this show than any producer has ever had before.

Just for reference, Shirakura produced every show from Agito to Decade except for the first half of Hibiki (contrary to what people are saying elsewhere, he didn't have anything to do with the staff change, he was just the replacement), and Kiva. Takebe produced Kiva, OOO, and Gaim. Shirakura is a pretty prominent figure at Toei these days and hasn't worked on a Kamen Rider TV series (he did do Amazons and famously said Rider these days is stale and boring) since Decade. Him coming back is probably the biggest news attached to this staff list and I wholeheartedly believe Kento Shimoyma will be little more than a glorified stenographer.

I want to know how someone missed that. Judging by some of the poses some seem to be stock images they had left but Build's pose is new so idk

Either someone misplaced some props, the earlier comments about it being full of stock images is correct, or Decade reappears and transforms into Ryuki again!

I'd be interested in this series if only for the connections its trying to make with earlier Heisei Riders!

P.S.: Give the writers and cast and crew a chance! THEY HAVEN'T EVEN RELEASED THE FIRST EPISODE, AND MANY ARE ALREADY SAYING "WASTE OF TIME, WHAT ELSE YOU GOT?" TO TOEI!

May have responded too hastily on that issue, cause I found another version of that image, and it shifts some Riders around so that you can't see Ryuki's belt!

If Decade doesnt have a decent sized role in this series I will be genuinely surprised. Not only does his Ride Watch do more than every other Heisei Rider watch, just look at his placement in that banner image. His image is bigger than the others, plus his placemeny just behind ZI-O and opposite Gates gives it the apperance of a trio of Riders in the center.

Plus the gaffe with Ryuki can't just be a wrong image. In the altered version all they did was cover up the belt. They didn't switch out to another Ryuki image

I haven't seen Ninninger, so I'm not entirely sure what that's all about.
Unfortunately though, my expectations have been lowered a bit at seeing Shinichiro involved in any form. Skepticism has activated.

Let's just say the show was not that great. Others will brief you on the details I am sure but yeah, overall not considered a great show. Personally I love the designs and the overall art style.

That sort of thing is more down to the director, producer, and designers of the show.

I think the reason Shimoyama was hired this year is because of his mentality on Ninninger. He didn't really plot things out in a linear fashion like most writers tend to. He used a sort of "choose your own adventure" style branching formula so he could have different options based on real world factors like filming conditions and stuff.

If Shirakura and Takebe take a more active role than a producer typically does, they probably picked him because he'll be able to pop out decent dialogue based on what they want him to do, but overall, I don't think he'll inform a lot of the creative process in this show.

Re-posting/Re-editing what I think of Shimoyama writing Zi-O

"Assuming that Zi-O goes the Decade/Gokaiger route where it has a lot of miniature arcs/episodes dedicated as tributes to past riders, I think Shimoyama would be fine since that sort of episodic, one and done style storytelling is something he seems to be good at."

Y'know, I know it's not at all going to happen, but I really, really hope that the "Riders of the Future" will somehow involve the future Kamen Rider Aqua and Kamen Rider Ghost (the one from the future).

Shimoyama is great at humor and interesting character stuff. Ninninger as a whole is severely lacking, yes, but the guy has also written some pretty stellar stand-alone Ninninger, Zyuohger, and Kyuranger episodes.

He's a solid writer, he's just not great at long-term storytelling. With Shirakura and Takebe involved, I think Shimoyama will be able to exercise his strengths while relying on them to compensate for his weaknesses.

Also, something that does scare me a little, The belt looks big. Quite so. Hopefully it'll be more like the Ghost driver and not stick out as much as it looks.

The new scans explain why the lack of any suit/filming leaks. Time travel to the far past would suggest closed sound stages.

Still all looks really promising and fun so far.

With the actor around, the Neo-Fangire thing with Kurenai Masao sounds like a neat idea. Can't say I expect them to do so though.
If nothing else, it'd be a cute little bookend if he stuck around to lead into Zi-O in a similar way to how Wataru's actor lead into Decade in the first episode.

So all the rumours about Zi-O being female are probably not right, but did anyone notice how the synopsis revealed today mentioned a girl comming from the same time Gates is supposed to be from?

Gates' rider kick is dubbed Time Burst

Both have the word "kick" engraved on the outsole of their boots, Zi-O in katakana, Gates in hiragana

Huh, interesting. Gates is a leather wrist watch band. He has the clip type on his back. Zi-O is a metal band click type. I was assuming they were the same strap types, but different colored metals. But that back clip spot on Gates is unmistakable as a different watch band type entirely. Like a leather band one, or sports band one that uses that metal belt buckle/clip strap style as opposed to Zi-O's clasp style like on Zi-O's bike.


Should probably bring this up if it hasn't been realized or mentioned yet.

It's a triple celebration.

Zi-O is the 20th heisei rider. Also the end of the era, but it's also the 29th in the count. So the one after it is the first of the new era, 21 of the middle era, and the 30th series. Like how Decade celebrated 10th heisei but W celebrated 20th series overall.

So like OOO, 3 coins and a birthday cake, there's 3 birthday cakes in these two series. (Technically 4, sort of 5, but we'll get to that in October.)

Unless Amazons is figured into that count, in which case Zi-O counts as 20th and 30th. But they didn't count "The First" and "Next" so Amazons may not count in that regard since it's Amazon exclusive and adult oriented.

Think we'll get a 3rd rider that uses Romaji?

Doubt they'd use Kanji for one. But they could that too depending on how it's being used. Though Kanji doesn't cover quite as much as Romaji, katakana, and hiragana does/can.

According to that yellow page, Zi-O's enemies apparently are the "Another Rider" that come from the future. We already have a confirmed creature designer (Yutaka Izubuchi who designed the Lords in Agito and Greeed in OOO) so it seems like those will be new designs.

I'd guess they'll be "monsters" based on the previous Riders, but it'll be interesting to see if they will actually look very monstrous or actually Rider-like, just with a lower monster budget for the suits (see Abyss in Decade). Either way though, I guess making even the monsters into Riders had to happen at some point.

So something on par with Boukenger villains. I like those odds.

What the fuck did Zi-O do, how did he manage to get seemingly every Heisei Rider with their respective final villian there? I'm assuming this is Build's Earth and not the maintime line one?

Based on spoilers posted on 5ch for the movie (which were there before these images popped up online) Build's movie ends with


Sento making the white pandora panel and experimenting with it, only to randomly be transported to that battlefield. Then he sees Zi-O arriving in the Time Mazin, Zi-O jumps out, uses the Build armor and kills everyone.

During this scene, apparently Zi-O claims to rule over every Rider, while Sento just wonders how Zi-O can use Build's power.
