I don't quite understand the green accent on the visor, that just looks out of place to me. But other than that, I'm really liking this suit.

He is Kento's father (Fukamiya Hayato) and is played by Karahashi Mitsuru (He played kaido in 555. member of the Orphenoc trio. and Fuwa Juzo in Shinkenger)

To be fair, there was a line in episode three that heavily implied that! Sophia said to Fukamiya something like "I understand you're mad at calibur, after all he is your..." and then trailed off . The choice of actor is very interesting, I think he could fit the part really well.

Took me a while to figure out but Kenzan's left horizontal and vertical slashes are the shuriken and his right diagonal slashes are the dual swords. I love how Hayate can become a big shuriken and dual swords, it's a lot cooler and more functional than Gekido which only has 1 configuration. Also, ninjas are cool!

They all share the same element. Presumably someone can figure out the significance of the chosen elements, but I haven’t.

EDIT: According to a guy on Twitter, Blades’ are based on stars (Pegasus is the eponymous constellation, Lion is Regulus and Peter Fan is second to the right and straight on til morning), Espada is based on bad luck and Saber is based on flying.

The weird thing about Brave Dragon and Lion Senki is that their elements are the opposite of Ryu and Shishi Origami in Shinkenger.

Kinda expected a phoenix instead of cerberus but why not. Maybe for Kenzan or a future rider. If not a phoenix at least some kind of holy bird. Maybe simorgh.

Because so far we have Dragon, Turtle and Pegasus, and phoenix/holy bird would complete a recurring quartet of beast from chinese folklore (pegasus often replacing the white tiger. I have no clue why like in Saint Seiya or BTX).

Gotta say, I'm really curious where the forms will go from here, as it looks like our three main riders will have their "best match" 3-book forms by Christmas! I know Calibur has an upgrade coming and Arthur fits in to Saver's arsenal somewhere, possibly with a dedicated combo eventually, but other than that I'm really not sure...
Will they just get another full combo each, or will we start moving onto more "unconventional" ridebooks for upgrades (along the lines of RT Sparkling, Trinity Ridewatch, Metal Cluster Hopper, etc)?

I'm unsure if they'll throw in a single book for a new form. They very well could.
Build's powerups used both driver slots, but I don't know if a three-slot megabook would work, unless it was a triptych of sorts.

And if they went the route of having one book signal a suit change, what would the other two slots be used for? Minor accent changes, like Hazard? Or would they simply not be used in show (which would be a missed opportunity, IMO)?

Then again, maybe with each major upgrade, our heroes have to complete the full saga before getting the whole thing. So a Brave Dragon powerup would grant a new base suit, but it wouldn't be at full power until later? But book hunting to complete each new form, and I could only see that happening for a major late-show upgrade.

But ideas that I'd like to see are a three-book powerup (probably a macguffin hunt, a la the search for the Argos Kyutama; EDIT could maybe go the route of having each book grant our main three riders a new body section and all of them combine for a suit), a new Emblem, or a new sword/driver. Oh, and the fabled theory of Touma writing his own story for his final form.

Bad luck? I don't have any knowledge on astrology or superstitions but how exactly does a hedgehog count as bad luck? The genie and cereberus I can understand to a degree.

i hope we get a 3 musketeer themed power up, or alternately there is this theme of past swordsmen and mentors so maybe saber will get like a buster themed power up or espada gets like a caliber upgrade.

They appear to be used with some kind of adapter, so I could see it being a thing that the adapter fills all three slots, and then the new book slots into the adapter.

I'm a little doubtful about Saiyuu Journey being the final book in Saber's elemental combo, just because its cover is such a different color and looks more brown or copper than red. I think it'll be a non-elemental book like Jackun To Domamenoki, and a book we haven't seen yet will be the third part of Saber's trilogy.

Nope Saiyuu Journey is the final fire book as confirmed by Listings. I see it as more of a crimson color.

elemental combos actually have different shades. Lion Senki and Peter Fantasista already aren't the same blue and the Pegasus one too is a third different one.

I dunno, Saiyuu Journey is more burgundy considering its darker hue while Storm Eagle I'd say is close to vermilion.

anyone else finding wonder ride books having both "animal" and "god beast" categories to be redundant? i wasn't even aware about all the categories until i read the wiki tbh, i had assumed all the books to be based on stories up to that point. wish they could have stuck to just story books, but then again more books means more toys to sell for them so eh.

I like to think of it as representing aspiration, knowledge, and inspiration. As riders they aspire to greatness like the mythical beasts, learn from the lifeforms that actually roam the Earth, and be inspired by the heroes of lore.

I just looked at the wiki, and on the images page, it appears that Houshin Kamen Engi is likely to be Saber's third. Do what you will with this information.

Oh, if I may throw my two cents into the theme speculation, I believe Espada's theme would be spirits/the holy. For one, his suit looks like it has a halo on it. But secondly, Cerberus is the dog that guards the dead, hedgehogs are considered holy animals in Chinese culture (The thing with them being unlucky/untrustworthy is Mongolian) and lastly a genie is in essence a spirit living inside a lamp. But that's just the conclusion I've drawn from reading around.

Also, apparently someone in medieval times interpreted Heracles' defeat of Cerberus as overcoming Earthly needs and urges, so I suppose that could play into the holy motif?

Houshin Kamen Engi is based off of Fengshen Yanyi aka Investiture of the Gods, a fantasy story epic that is based on actual events of one kingdom falling and another rising during the BC era in China but had superpowered beings and mythical beasts and monsters and demons, etc added to the mix. Basically imagine Frank Miller's 300 but it added a big spoonful of Lord Of The Rings or whatever fantasy epic you can think of. The Shonen Jump manga Houshin Engi, or Soul Hunter if you remember the English translation, is also based off of this story.

I still have feeling Buster and Kenzan will be have a Seiken SworDriver to access their alternate Forms and this will be similar to Grease who used Build Driver to access his Grease Blizzard Form.

There could probably be a Kodogouken made, seeing as how Buster has a kid. The result would likely be a Hyper Battle or V-Cinema form, used partially out of a desire to make sure it's safe for his son to use it should he need to.

Ooh, that'd be really interesting! Kinda reminds me of Ex-Aid's Bakusou Bike form. I've not yet seen anyone successfully hack the sworddriver so who knows if such sounds are in the belt.

With both Buster and Kenzan not having obvious room for upgrades, I'm beginning to wonder whether they'll end up being "occasional" riders after a while, off fighting their own battles but showing up for a bit once a month or so, rather than being around every single week. It might be a decent way of dealing with what will supposedly be upwards of 10 riders!

So I did some digging around for the Houshin Kamen Engi WRB since it wasn't included as part of the leaked toy listings from awhile back. From what I can tell it appears to be a China Exclusive item similar to the Red Hiden Driver from Zero One.
