Don't know where you got that from, the wikis I use for information which use Bandai's database as a source claim that both Terriermon and Lopmon are classified as "Beast Digimon" with the design being inspired by rabbits.

I can see why people would think it's a dog and the name is very irritating, but saying Lopmon is a rabbit and Terriermon a dog makes no sense at all. It's the same Digimon with different colors and number of horns.

Not that these death battles are ever based on logic, but how could Digimon possibly loose? Almost any Champion Digimon is way larger than almost any Pokemon, and that's not counting Ultimates of Megas.
