As for me, I just re-watched Go-Busters 12 yesterday. Holy shit. Those first batch of episodes was amazing. I love how great the relationships between the Busters and their Buddyroids are written. But honestly, I also do understand why Japanese children wouldn't want to watch that show so shortly after the Touhou earthquake. Especially episode 10 is a grim reminder of how real everything must have felt for them. :( |
I watched MagiRanger Episodes 13-17: Rewatching episodes 13-16 were fun again since I am watching them with a group. I love Tsubasa a lot especially in episode 14 was great with him and Kai. Kai's love interest story is so much fun too. I also loved the succeeding with gentleness against Lunagel's spell and helping her against Wolzard. Getting really exciting at the end with the Hades' Gate rising.
Also watched ZyuRanger episodes 23-25 and I really enjoy the series. I thought the DoraPixie episode was extremely funny with the magic balls lol. I enjoyed Boi a lot in the episode where he had to keep Running and how he stood with the kid while he got better from the hospital. The Episode with the Tarantula was pretty interesting too. Burai I feel so bad for being stuck in his time room so he doesn't die and he can't help. I also feel bad for Bandora because she does this out of hate and something bad had to happen to her for her to feel this way. I also like Pleprechaun because he loves his work and is a deep artist. I think the Villain generals did more in this than what I remember of Power Rangers. I still am enjoying this show even though I think Power Rangers did some things better in little ways. |
I finally finished Magiranger and I can understand why people like the show, but it wasn't that great to me. The Hikaru/Urara love story came out of literally nowhere, then that advanced, they dropped Kai's and Makito's love stories (Makito's was only an episode with a brief mention in another) and N Ma only really ate....like that was it. Regardless, it is a fun season and I can understand capitalizing on the popularity of Harry Potter at the time. Also the family dynamic was done pretty well.

I love the villains to Magi, but I am not a fan of the ranger cast. Mikoto was just way too hyper and immature to be the oldest sibling.

And I finished Abaranger! It wasn't that bad of a season. The plot was nice and all of the characters were great and likeable, even the villains. The suits are nice too, but I could do without the white spots right on top of the shoulders for the core three. Unfortunately though I never really digged the mecha outside of Bakuren-oh. Overall though I like it...though the show does have it's issues.
The main issue is simply the character development. The only characters who truly were developed through the entire show were Asuka, Mahoro, and Mikoto. Everybody else never really developed to me. Plus as much as I love Ranru I really hated how a majority of the time if the MOTW was winning she out of nowhere just happened to have a gadget to beta it. It really took me out of the fight and just seemed so bull shitty. But all of that aside I quite enjoyed Abaranger. It isn't perfect but it's a great insane wide. All I have left to say is, where's my Abare Pink SHF? |
been watching jetman lately man those villains are great

I just finished Liveman and I must say that it was an amazing season, holy moly. First the rangers were all pretty likable and seemed like actual people you would meet in real life. They were geniuses, but in a more casual way sort of. The villains were pretty dynamic and all of them gave you that sense that they would be redeemed (some were, some weren't) and that aspect was really interesting. Like they willingly became evil, but almost always seemed to regret it. The final arc was good and even the filler episodes didn't make me cringe as much as I expected. I definitely give this season a big recommendation to any sentai fan.
I was pretty skeptical about 80's sentai, but after watching Bioman and liking and now watching Liveman and loving it, I am excited to watch Maskman next. |
Choujuu Sentai Liveman Episodes 6 and 7: Liveman is something else, these episodes had some fun moments with Gon biting Jo’s butt and Yusuke trying to distract Gon by reminding him of that, but it goes back to the normal dark side of Liveman. Now Gon is a baby T-Rex he looks like and he was brought back from the past by Doctor Obler’s monster. This just had scenes like the kid wanting to put Gon out of his misery and the little kid is holding a rifle! Sheesh things you’d never see in Power Rangers. The Time Machine monster was cool looking and was clever to turn back time to give himself the advantage but it didn’t help him though. I felt so bad for Gon because in the next episode the jackasses turn him Giant and try to control him forcing the Livemen to fight Gon and when they destroy the device controlling Gon and shrinking him back down, it ends up killing him because his body couldn’t handle it. The bad guys of Liveman are fucking assholes! On the bright side it was some really cool fights with the Live Robo which is one of the best looking Showa Mecha I’ve seen. I can’t wait for more though I know more emotional stuff in on the way with this series

I am on episode 43 of Abaranger and Gaoranger and Abaranger is so goofy and serious that it is completely confusing and awesome at the same time. Groaner has it's good points, but it does bore me at times. It is not completely terrible, but it is missing something.
I am also trying to watch Sun Vulcan, but it is so boring. The best part of the season so far (5 episodes in and I know...I need to give it more of a shot) is when they first used the Vul Sticks and they just simply threw them at the MotW and he took a significant amount of damage. I had a good laugh at that. I will focus more and give it more of a shots soon as I finish Abaranger and Gaoranger. I also plan on starting Battle Fever J, but after watching some of Sun Vulcan, I am feeling pretty hesitant about it. But I do have a goal to watch as much sentai as I can (whenever it gets subbed), so every season will get a legitimate shot. |
Marathonig Go-Busters because I barely watched any toku during the holidays (except for Wizard oO), currently at episode 43 (which is my favorite).
The second half of the show is still kinda... eh. Basically because the episodes feel really slow and the storylines in them are just not interesting or relevant enough. I liked the episode were Jin was controlled by the puppeteer and the one with the two brides, but that's about it up till now. Which is really a pity, because Go-Busters had so much potential to be a great show :/ |
Really dragging my heels on Dekaranger now. Only got 6/7 episodes left and I've no real urge to get them watched. The lack of story build up to the finally really hurts this show.

Working on Gaoranger right now, I think I'm up to #8. It's a good series, so far, but I'm having a tough time getting motivated to keep watching. Heck, Abaranger I plowed through the episodes, and couldn't wait to see the next one.

Ressha Sentai ToQger. I really like this show. How someone cannot love a show where they literally shoot a japanese security guard from a train bazooka? :lol

Ummm I can't... Sorry the show really annoys me. I'm glad other people like it though. |

Just wrapped up Dekaranger,
not a bad series all in all but it suffered from not having a "build up to the finish" storyline. They did it in the last 2/3 episodes and while it worked it was late for it. It's got a decent cast of characters with nobody really annoying in it. I love the Robocop nods to, Murphy and the gun spinning by Dekarobo. Also Doggie/Dekamaster, just awesome. I've got to mention some flaws though. Repeating every time about the judgement system, Jasmine being an ESP, Sen thinking pose etc in every episode it appeared in was really annoying. At the end it's almost like "You're 40+ episodes in but we have to tell you again!" I'm not a massive fan of the SWAT modes, they're ok but nothing special. It's a series worth watching but I've seen better. I've got Gekiranger lined up next. |
I am struggling to get through Sun Vulcan. The cast and story are just so boring, that it feels like a chore to get through an episode.
Maskman on the other hand is really good and I enjoy to see what drives each of the rangers to keep going. That is cool. I am on episode 26 of both. |

Some of the filler can be trying, but I like it. I had the same reaction to Magiranger though; had to get through like 24 episodes before I actually started to enjoy it.
|
For me it was that the first three or so episodes were so good that everythign else felt really meh in comparison. And just the fact that aside from blue I cant get invested in any of the other characters be it heroes or villains.
|
Yeah, that was my problem with Maskman. I watched the whole series last year but it was a trial just to get through it all. I really wanted to love it as I love the designs of their costumes, but I found all of the rangers but Akira/Blue to be bland and the villains were uninteresting. Add on the fact that everyone was blind to the fact that Igam was a woman even though they sometimes called her a "her", made it even more laughable and sad.

Sorry wrong area my bad.

I decided now that I have completed all of Dragon Ball that I need some new things to watch. As such, it is time to start watching some subbed Sentai again as I haven't done anything since finishing Maskman back in July.
I watched the first 7 episodes to OhRanger as I want to try to not get too far behind their subs since this is a series I can not fathom watching in 15-20 episodes chunks ever again. As always, the first 7 episodes were quite good (although, I have watched the one with the cop and his son way too many times) and I figure that should be enough until next week. Since MFC seems to do an episode a week, I should be able to keep up a pace from this point forward of 3-5 episodes a week without getting too far behind. I'm also thinking about starting MegaRanger finally. |
I'm 16 episodes into Changeman. I like the monster designs. They're really creepy.

I really enjoyed Megaranger, and felt the only real issues that actually brought down my interest in the series being MegaSilver. While his character, Yusaka, was pretty funny, MegaSilver himself was just too overpowered.
|
I love Megaranger to death. It isn't a perfect show but I do highly recommend it.
