Uh, sorry. I haven't quite got this affection for a male fictional character down yet. Don't worry, Sieg is far more rounded far more quickly. Well, you'll see for yourself in, like, two episodes. (or one?) Unlike Ryutaros, nobody really puts up with him. He thinks he's way better than he is. He never stops being a "prince" but, well...

Also he's cooler, both as an Imagin and as Den-O. Also he gives Ryotaro crowrows.

I think Raia may be one of my favourite Riders in this show. He's non-combative, but isn't a pushover. He's a psychic, but not controlled by his predictions. He also doesn't let anyone manipulate him, even if it's undoubtably going to lead to his death. The price of being your own man and living up to your morals is a high one. He's probably, next to Zolda, one of the more rounded characters despite being kind of on the sideline. I only wish we got to see more of his contract monster, and actually saw him make the contract. That's gotta be weird, since how does a stingray stalk someone? Also, he has no cool abilities. He can use the stingray's tail as a whip, but has no guard vent or strike vent.

Also, is he gay? And no, I'm not talking about him being pink in rider form, but when he talks about his friend the flashbacks make it out like they were always spending time together like a couple. I think that'd be cool. Especially since, as I said, he's such a well-rounded and cool character.

EDIT: So of course they kill him off. Man Ryuki, you're really making me wonder why you're so popular.

Also Knight got an upgrade ya woo whatever the bland as can be angsty asshat character gets a shiney new upgrade and the one with actual DEPTH gets burried. How's that for justice. At leats Raia wasn't eaten, but now I wonder why he wasn't.

In fact, that rule kind of got abandon fart sugar didn't it? When Scissors died he got eaten by his monster ina s tupid way, but when Gai died Metalgelas threw a temper tantrum before just deciding Ouja was his rider because he owned his piece of paper. Now Raia's dead and whatever the hell his monster is called couldn't be botehred to get out of bed.

DAMMIT. Yet another rider show that establishes rules and then ignores them! What the hell?

But only one that takes place during the series, Ore Tanjou (I'm Born) which you need to watch.

Yeah, sucked when Raia died. He's certainly one of my favorite characters. And his monster's name was Evildiver.

So I watched Kabuto 7, Blade 5, and Black 2 to see which one I liked more, and I'm still in the same problem. I think I might watch another episode of each one and see if that helps. I have more space now so I might throw in Agito in this decision.

Just saw Kuuga from half of the series to episode 41 and Wizard from the Drago timer introduction to episode 29.

Kuuga compared to Wizard is so hilarious since Kuuga has so little action that goes over so quick yet the brutality of it makes it worth the short time.

Also Gremlin is a dick.

Unfortunately, the climax seems to have finally ended. Unless they showed up in SHTZ (and I haven't heard anything about that), 2013 is the first year since 2007 where we've had no appearance by Owner, Naomi, and the Taros.

I think this is a big reason why I ended up disliking Kuuga so much. Kuuga has aged so horribly, it looks so cheap and is just all round so naff that all of its inherent crappiness is magnified when placed next to a huge, flashy, ultra modern series.

I think I got over the Kuuga suit looking fake a long time ago but in the Ryuki clips I've seen it bugs me. Can't imagine watching Dragon Knight from the suits looking fake to real in between footage switch

Is it also because the plot doesn't exist unless it's the beginning, middle or end or an unnecessary focus on minor character's stupid dilemmas that don't have to relate to Kuuga?

Locke, I think you are getting to me and I think I'm starting to hate Kuuga now.

So I just watched the Den-O/Decade movie...the one with the Warship...that Diend had no real reason to be in but hey, it was bad Decade writing...and while I understand the kind of why...I can't stand that they had Ouja possessed by Ryotaro...it was just WRONG seeing that suit act like that...ok...angry fanboy rant done...

The plot doesn't exist in Kuuga, period. It's all 'ooo mysterious' until you get to the end of the series and realise you know as much as you did when you went in as you do coming out.

It also doesn't help that Godai has no emotional range and is so disconnected from the Rider stuff that everything Kuuga related comes from the side characters reactions and feelings...rather than what the main protagonist is reacting to or feeling.

Plus later on Godai gets like super healing powers so he gets battered in his suit, and then the next scene he is completely fine so you could cut out most of the fight footage or swap it around or whatever else and it wont make any difference, it's pointless.

If you like Kuuga that is fine but Kuuga is so overrated and I hate how Kuuga gets away with so much that other series are torn apart for.

I think Kuuga is better than a lot of the Heisei rider stuff because it is so different from others Kamen Rider shows. I do not think it is as amazing as other poeple make it sound, as I think Agito is way better with superior characters and development, but I do think Kuuga is probably the most adult of any Kamen Rider series. Plus, that bike chase with one of the Grongi was an awesome set of episodes. I do feel the Grongi were much more interesting that most of the heroes though, but at least the police were not displayed as dumb idiots. They certainly are not dumb as the likes of the cops from W and Wizard.

I thought the grim nature of Kuuga worked to its detriment, I mean not only was there a severe tonal clash between rubber monster fighting and child suicides but the fact that Godai continued to goofily do a thumbs up while the show rubbed my face is the death count that was in the thousands by the end only further showcased just how fucking shit a hero Godai was.

The bike stuff was great, Ichijou is one of my all time favourite characters, but the story was shit, Godai is one of the worst heroes I've come across in any medium, the action was downright awful and it near embodied everything I don't like about Toku in one show, in a package so depressing and dour that it was near unwatchable at times.

So after much thinking and watching another episode of Black, Blade and Kabuto I have chosen Blade as my next Rider I will watch.

Black 3 was really good, I really like Kotaro a lot and him being a hero too.

Kabuto 8 was alright I love Tendou in it but Kagami I was kind of meh, and the guy who is TheBee right now, lost me after having a fit that Kabuto was right.

Blade 6 was really really good. I love Kenzaki, Tachibana and Hajime and all the rest of the cast and the mystery with the storyline right now is why I am choosing this one. I think Black will be next though.

Obviously your choice bro but I'm loving Black so far and my main reaction to Blade meanwhile has been 'meh'. The cripplingly slow pacing and bad action scenes really ruin the fun for me although the characters are SLOWLY softening and developing arcs to make them interesting, so at this rate I might be enjoying the show by the late thirties when the plot finally starts moving.

Yeah we all experience each show differently. I'm enjoying Black too it'll probably be next or after Kabuto.

Yay Blade 18 doesn't have a fucked up resolution I have to overrule, usually resulting in a picture that gives me the choice between either least stretched or least squashed.

I love how this show actually uses my own criticisms, like Tachibana. Why is someone who is so cowardly and unreliable a Kamen Rider? I physically can't understand why he was chosen and it would seem according to episode eighteen, the show isn't either... a bit late mind you but at least it is acknowledged. And just a few episodes ago I finally thought they got his act together. God damn if only he wasn't so handsome...

Kiryuu, the guy who SHOULD be Garren is seriously cool though, even if characters with his morals always have to be placed in a negative light for some reason. His storyline is really interesting as well. I hope he means we get rid of Mutsuki, this show doesn't need any more wimps, cowards and useless dead weights. Leangle is pretty badass in his own right, and especially so now Kiryuu is driving. Those last five minutes were AWESOME.

Just marathoned Wizard up to 40 since my subbers don't have any episodes past 41.AND...... Nothing much has happened in Wizard. Guess this explains why this series is the first since Agito to get 51 episodes.

God damn, I feel bad for watching 2 rider shows in a row with no plot. Can anyone recommend me a Rider series with an actual plot behind it?

Although I do have to give points to Wizard since it didn't make the Drago timer upgrade completely useless when Infinity rolled around.

And is it just me or have there been no Underworld fights with gates the past 20 or so episodes? I don't mind them being gone due to CGI reasons because at least it ISN'T AN ENTIRE FORM THAT WE NEVER GET TO SEE AGAIN, GATAKIRIBA! Excuse me, wait All dragon style was used once in the series, damn it!

Most Rider series have a plot (Kuuga and Blade have been my exceptions so far) but I've yet to come across one which is worthwhile.

Fourze and OOO were both clearly very poorly planned out and resulted in series that ended up making very little sense with mythology garbled and constantly contradicted. Black so far, despite the dramatic voiceovers at the end, has just been a series of of the week episodes under a vague banner which is basically what Wizard is.

True, but that's basically what the Showa era was. There is an ongoing plot in Black, it's just that it sometimes goes away for awhile. :lol

It hasn't actually started yet. I mean yes Kotaro is battling with Golgom but I get no sense of him trying to find Golgom or rescue his brother, like the voice over claims. The show is very inconsistent with the whole cyborg thing as well...

Honestly he doesn't even seem to care, not like his sister and I think it's...his brothers girlfriend who have actually shown to be feeling pain for him and wondering where he is on screen.

You'll sort of understand why he isn't actively seeking out Nobuhiko in due time.

Without spoilers, he has no real reason to believe he's alive. It's actually kind of depressing.

It really stinks. I mean, Zolda's barely in there and he's so reduced. He spent more time in Rider form on camera than out. Kido's just an idiot, but a nice guy, and Ren is not even close to likable or entertaining. He's every terrible trope of an "angsty" Japanese character rolled into one dumb package. And Ouja's just embarrassing how bad he is.

Also, will the opening ever unscratch all those faces?

Kintaros maybe...and well G3 is just a suit persay...but Ouja being that freaking goofy is wrong...

oh and while Kuuga didn't hit me just right...for a "Dark" story I like Agito...some great death scenes in that I have to say...

I prefer him as Ryutaros goofball to how he actually is if Ryuki so far is any indication.

Say what you will about Akiko, but I still stand by her as one of the better female leads because her first instinct when faced with adversity is to smack it with a slipper, not cry and play "woe is me." Seriously lady, not only are you a massive load, but Kido had Raia die in his arms. He has a right to be breaking, not you, and he's taking it fairly well. (Showing that he seems to be hardening up since last time he thougth he killed someone it almost destroyed him)

Second watch through the Agito movie...man this is an Iron Man movie with out the Marvel rights...psychics...molemen...all the cool stuff...Really want a G4 Figuart now...

I rather liked Project G4 myself, which was surprising given that it's something of a slog making it through Agito.

Mind you, the movie is pretty much "G3 guest-starring the guy the show's named after" but . . .yeah, I didn't mind it, even if the head of the G4 project way overdid the crazy.

Also watched Kamen Rider Hibiki & The Seven Senki recently. It was pretty darn good. Having seen next to nothing of Hibiki it made me kinda want to see more.

BTW, Zolda continues to be the best character of the show. The relationship between him and Gorou is finally explained, and I kind of wish that this was our main rider. He's not some heroic young gun or kid with a chip on his shoulder. He's an adult who lives a comfortable lifestyle with his own really interesting butler who's basically a smugly, self-loving asshole with a deeply hidden heart of gold who moonlights as a more heavily-armed version of Robocop.

I kind of wish this show had a different direction. Like I wish the riders could be riders more often, and their contract monsters be more apparent, maybe even have personalities despite having their own evil agendas. Zolda is awesome, but I only call him Zolda because I can't remember his real name's spelling. He barely spends time as a rider and acts completely different. There's a disconnect between certain riders and their human forms, though unlike Agito this has a bridge and logical explanation. Like it'd be cool if we could ever seen them along side their contract monsters as people, not riders.
