I would be all kinds of pissed if X and Y were STILL for DS. The 3DS lets you do so much more. Not upgrading is like all the genwunners complaining about "too many Pokémon". Everyone was fine with upgrading for EVERY other generation, but suddenly everyone throws a fit when they're asked to upgrade again. The DS even got TWO generations while GameBoy, Color, and Advance each got one(with a little overlap of Gold and Silver being playable still on GameBoy)

And as it was stated before 1DS isn't a thing. One dimension is a line. You can't play things on a line. Even if you don't use the 3D feature on a 3DS/XL, it's still worth having. The 2DS is not as stupid as everyone is making it out to be, but I've bought a 3DS and then upgraded to the XL, so I don't have a reason for the 2DS.

Also gen 3 aren't bad games, but they feel completely backwards compared to all the things introduced in gen 2. Unique sprites for each version, moving sprites (I know that came from Crystal), day/night removed...

Emerald fixed some of the stuff but I'd definitely consider it the weakest generation in terms of game mechanics.

I actually kind of liked the lack of a day/night mechanic, but I just like daytime. Also, Gen 3 introduced double battles and the special physical split. (also the hidden base feature was awesome!)

No, it did not.

As for Gens I liked, Gen 4 takes it. Not for D/P/Pt, but for the Gen 2 remakes. It had all the fun of Gen 2 with the balanced and revised gameplay of Gen 4. It was glorious.

That's because it had a plot rather than throwing the player into an oversized ocean for 5 hours.

And I loved that concept. I wish other games did that...
