Was looking around on Gundam communities recently, and I heard two interesting theories. One is that Glemy Toto from ZZ is the bastard son of Gihren Zabi, being the son of Gihren's blonde secretary. I think this link comes from the manga the Plot to Assasinate Gihren.

The other is that Puru from ZZ is also somehow related to the Zabis, again through Gihren. The main thing people cite is her pampered life in Axis/Neo Zeon being really odd if they clojed just anybody.

IBO is perhaps the most realistic as far as Gundam series and as far as AU goes.

So an answer to a question I had last episode was answered here, Kudelia has her face known in the colonies, as said by one of the rebellion guys. But then a second later, a woman says she's never heard of her.... And Gjallerhorn can also manipulate the media too. So that still doesn't explain why the Gjallerhorn guys didn't know what Kudelia looks like. Or maybe it's just that the dudes were looking for someone to beat up.

Also, we have the first look at the Gundam Gusion Rebake. Which... eh... Sort of disappointing that Akihiro isn't piloting the Gusion proper, but they gotta sell that new toy. Although I heard this has a transformation mode so... maybe it'll be good.

Kimaris in the next episode looks cool, but I have several questions relating to why Kimaris hasn't been used up to this point if Galieo is piloting it.

You should, it's getting even better. I like the suits and the characters, and the story is defintley different from other Gundam series, at least I've seen.

Too bad it still doesn't convey liquids in zero gravity with any sort of realism. But hey, you lose narrative imagery or something.

That was still the stupidest thing the show has done so far, and it's been rendered totally pointless with this ep.

With that one screwup Gjallerhorn has gone from threatening to laughably incompetent and seems like the whole organization is flying by the seat of their poofy pants.

Also, I wish this show had more mobile suit action. I mean, I'd prefer a good story over a shitty one that had more robot fights, but I'd prefer a good story with more focus on the mobile suits above them both. (And I'm sure it's possible)

So who are you guys favorite Gundam heroes and villains?

Finished the original Mobile Suit Gundam last night. It's a pity that everything got so horribly rushed towards the end because of production issues, but other than that I had an absolute blast with it. Will definitely go down as one of my all-time favourites.

But I'm sorry, all you guys saying this series has horrible animation are completely talking out of your asses. I can't deny that it has some hilariously off frames in places, but find me a series this length and from this time that doesn't? On the whole it still looks pretty great.

So random questions to gunpla people, what kits/mobile suits would you like to see get the revive treatment, and which series would you at least like to see the main mobile suits get kits with more modern engineering?

I'd like to see more modern versions of the older SEED Destiny MGs.

Revive: I know they're kinda recent-ish, but the HG Unicorn/Banshee with full articulation. I get why the MGs have limited articulation because of the transformation, so what's the HG's excuse?

My problem with the look of the series is just that the colors just seem kinda off. Like they're using too bright or too dark of colors or just the wrong one in some spots. And I never got the feeling that the characters had a consistent shape, they could sort of bend if the animation needed them to.

I think some of the Zeta Gundam stuff wold benefit, since the New Translation movies came out 10 years ago and that was the last time we got new kits as one big thing.

Also, if we are requesting RGs, RGs of all the major 00 suits please. Seriously tired of looking over at my Kyrios and having it fall over just due to my stare and it explode on me whenever I try reposing it.

I own it, still don't like it, and I'm pretty sure Bandai now can make some adjustments to it.

All they did, and only did was adjust the thigh, and upper knee of the build, doesn't really make a difference.

Which is fair enough, but those aren't problems unique to the series. It's just a quality of 70s anime in general.

They also altered the head and generally made small structural improvements.

And TBF, the limited knees were the only real issue outside of fragility. The best a new Unicorn could do is have double-jointed knees. What would you improve?

Are you saying the shitty ankles are inherent in Unicorn's design and there's not much you can do to change without sacrificing show accuracy/sculpt?

Kinda, yeah. Due almost entirely to that part of the foot that becomes ankle armour in destroy mode, the ankle needs to be needlessly complicate dto facilitate that part floating up to join the leg whilst still having motion for both modes.

I think maybe the PG does it better because it's a PG, but even then I've seen people less than enthused by it. Unicorn's a fiddly design by nature, since it's all telescoping joints and panels extending out. Telescoping joints are always going to be more prone to falling back in, make an entire figure out of them and I'm surprised the Unicorn isn't more fragile.

The Ver Ka Unicorn is a fragile mess. I've heard stories of people breaking their's....

We're talking about the Ver OVA, though. It fixed a lot of the structural problems as well as added better knees and resculpted head panels.

I mean it's still more fragile than a normal MG because it transforms but it's not needlessly so.

If you enjoy bad movies that are very cheesy then sure. I consider to be on the same level as Street Fighter (1994) and the second MK movie on being so bad that it's good. The movie has decent CG for a TV film. The CG looks better than the MMPR 1995 film did from what I can remember in my opinion.

IBO 17 was pretty rad.

For a moment there, when the news guys were coming up to Kuedlia, I thought they were gonna shove the camera up in her face poparazzi style and give their location away to Gjallerhorn. But it's awfully nice of the journalists to lend their transport and be inside a rogue faction's ship just to get a Kudelia scoop.

Kimaris is super badass, and I kinda want to know more about Galeio now that he's become much more prominent in the story. Interesting that Kimaris is one of his family treasures, makes me wonder if the other Seven Stars have Gundam frames. Rebake is also cool, can't wait to see the extra arms be used.

And yes, all those people who were bitching about Barbato's narrow waste finally have some credit to its stupid design when Galeio thrust it through Barbatos.

Who the hell is this Gordon Nobliss guy anyway? Hopefully they'll reveal that soon, because the dude seems pretty influential if he can get around the censors.

That shot at the end with all the ships going after the Isaribi makes me really excited for another big fight, but the next episode preview looks like they're gonna pull a Eureka 7 and just get past all of them. Boring. I was hoping we would get a bigger battle.

I've been thinking about IBO recently, and I am starting to think the show isn't as good as I thought it was. There's not that many fight scenes, and stuff is just drug out sometimes when it could have been done in way less time You could have done Fumitan's death in half an episode and it would have had the same emotional build-up, for me, anyways.

So there's a rumor going around via 2chan that Gundam Unicorn is going to get a TV airing and new footage along with it.

Has Gundam ever done something like this before? I know there were the extended final episodes of Seed/destiny, but did those ever air on tv?

That'd be cool. Unicorn is a solid enough series that I'll watch it again if it airs somehwere I can, but I won't get excited until it's more than a rumour.

You know, this rumor of a rebroadcast combined with the new Unicorn novel coming out in the next few months has raised my animated Unicorn alarms from moderately suspicious to very suspicious. This could all be a coincidence, or we could be getting something new.

Since it says spring, and IBO is ending in a few weeks, I think Unicorn could be taking IBO's time slot after the show ends/is on hiatus for a season 2. Normally in this kind of situation, I don't regard much of the potential for any new animation, since if you just total up Unicorn's run time, and divide it by 24 minutes (the average length of an anime episode), you get 18.5 episodes. Assuming the time of the content remains the same, with appropriate TV titles and endings, Sunrise could just fill in around 12 minutes of footage to get a nice 19 episode count, minor animation fixes, fight scene extensions that no one would notice until someone on a blog posted all the 30 second clips and we all go "Huh, interesting."

Unless you do the math differently. If Unicorn could be split up into 3 TV length episodes per OVA episode each around 60 minutes, 20 minutes just based off of the core Unicorn stuff (not counting episode 7, which is 90 minutes, and can be broken up into 4-5 tv length episodes), and add in footage to each episode to meet the 24 minute run time, you can get around 22 to 23 TV length episodes. Which is just a few episodes short of a 25-26 TV episode season. Now, do I think we're going to get an extra OVA's worth of animation just to make Unicorn fit in a nice little 26 episode form and for Bandai to charge out the ass for new blu-rays? Not necessarily. But it could mean we could some time to expand character development, explanation of the story, e.tc. 7 and a half TV episodes could do wonders for something like this, especially since Sunrise didn't include a lot more moments from the novel, such as the Banger and Full Frontal lance fight.

Or we could just get 7.5 episodes worth of padding to stretch it out.


tldr: Unicorn TV broadcast could mean a sequel, could mean nothing. On one hand, one way to do the math on runtime works out to be we might not get that much new. On the other hand, we could get a decent amount of new stuff, or just filler.
