I have a question regarding HG Barbatos. I'm interested in getting one at some point, but I am trying to decide what's the best version to get.

Should I just get Form 6 and be done with? Or should I get base form Barbatos if I want to get the regular mace and the longsword? How do I get that badass canon the Barbatos uses?

The cannon comes in one of the option weapon sets, Weapon Set 1 to be exact. Or you can get the 1/100 kit which comes with the cannon but sans mace. Weapon sets aren't all that expensive, costs as much as the Build Fighter add ons do maybe.

Personally, I would just get the base form Barbatos as I'm way more of a fan of that design then I am of the new one and it doesn't look like you can transition between the two forms with the new one.

There's also a patch that adds free battle mode and another coming with 6 free mobile suits. So maybe this game is not gonna get bashed as bad as it was upon initial release?

So I'm confused about how the hell Gjallerhorn just escaped. So one of the economic blocs put in a request for Tekkadan to be spared and Gjallerhorn just... let them go? The hell? Is this supposed to show how scummy Gjallerhorn is? I'll beat up everyone behind the economic blocs' backs until they are caught and let people get away?


McGillis doing a deal with Tekkadan is not what I expected out of a Char type character. Usually, you'd expect him to be the main rival, they fight alot, yadda yadda. But this could be a really cool turn on the trope's head. Granted, McGillis could just be using Tekkadan as a sacrifice to the outer orbit Gjallerhron guards to get Kudelia down there.

That scene with Kudelia and Atra crying was kinda cute. It's okay, we all we need a good cry once in awhile, whether you're a man or a woman.

At this point, I'm not expecting much out of IBO anymore. The series looks to fall in the "okay" to "good" range. Maybe it was my expectations were too high, or IBO just didn't deliver, but this show is kinda disappointing now in retrospect. The story is okay, the characters leave a bit to be desired, the MSes are genuine cool and badass but there are too few fights to display their capabilities. The world doesn't feel super fleshed out, I feel like every time I watch an episode now, I am try to scrap anything for lore. If the show doesn't have an interesting plot twist at the end or a season 2, I think this show might have been a waste of everyone's time.

It was brought up somewhere in here that Iron Blooded Orphans is a nonsense title, but I just want to point out that it makes a lot of sense (and yes I am "x-splaining" I know) the "Iron Blooded" part refers to the military aspect of the characters how they are hardened and ready to fight while the "Orphans" part refers to how the characters are lost and without guidance as well as draw to attention the child solider aspect, so essentially the tittle means that the main characters are strong but lost children forged by the military.

The title makes sense with the elements of the show, that I don't have a problem with. It's just that when trying to talk about the series in a normal conversation, people will go "the hell?" when they hear it, and it fucks up the flow of conversation. Plus, it's too long to say, and the shortening to IBO doesn't convey as well with actual speaking.

I don't have a problem with the names of 0080: War in the Pocket, or 0083: Stardust Memory. Gundam SEED/Destiny I have more of a problem with, but it's named after something in the show.

Glad the story in this episode really picked up the pace. It's the best IBO has been in awhile and has all the stuff I love in it.

Feels a lot better when we have one thing done in half an episode with the entry into Earth. The action for that was pretty great, with all of the mobile suits moving around and the new weapons and armor we get to see. The scene with Galieo trying to do that same move on Barbatos but it not working is really the best example of IBO's mecha combat goundedness defintley showing.

When the entry into Earth thing happened, I was thinking for a second that Barbatos was gonna survive the atmosphere but have all or some of its armor stripped away, hence why we get Form 6. But no, he used the suit of one of the guys he killed to survive, which is still epic.

The scene with Tekkdan using the Brewers' ship as a shield was defintley a great moment and using those scatter shard things. But the moment where the Isaribi cutting the one space station was way to shonen IMO. Not as crazy as Epyon slashing Barge in one continous slice, but still. But Eugene piloting two ships with Alia-Vijana was insanely cool and made him a much more notable character for me.

Is it safe to say that Ein is the most useless character on IBO now...?

He's a pretty good human shield.

Really tired of the One Year War stuff, but yeah, Blue Destiny would be great for an OVA. Would be really cool to see the EXAM system in action.

...How? Origin's the only major OYW animation project they've done since 8th MS Team in the late 90s hell Unicorn is the only major UC animation project they've done period since Victory in the early 90s.

Even model wise we aren't getting much OYW stuff compared to the AUs.

Origin can fall in to either category as it's a prequel, but it also gets into the One Year war itself. I don't know about Age's memory of Eden either, but I throw that in the same pile as the Special editions/movie compilations.

It's just, when you look over the history of OVAs throughout Gundam, half of them being dedicated to just the One Year War Time period is kinda of annoying. Okay we get it, a lot of stuff happened in the One Year War. We don't need to keep revisiting that same time period just to see some slightly different aesthetics of stuff we already know. There's so many other times in U.C. or even alternate Universes to expand.Why can't we get an OVA set between F91 and Crossbone? Why can't we get a G-Gundam sidestory? Why can't we get an After War X OVA?

So remember that new Unicorn novel I mentioned awhile back... turns out it just compiles some Unicorn side story stuff all into one Volume with some extra little things. So no sequel to Unicorn (as of right now).

But, to make up for that, Badai is teasing the next RG after 00 Quanta!

My bets are on the Unicorn, because no duh, main suit. But I think Sinaju might come out later if the fan reaction is strong enough to warrant an RG Sinanju.

I'm already shuddering at the thought of an RG Unicorn. It can't possibly end well if that try to make that thing transform.

I bet you Destroy mode is a mass release and Unicorn mode is a P-Bandai exclusive.

Yeahhhh...I know RGs are (suppossedly) better now at being not fragile but I cannot see Unicorn fairing well if they make it transformable.

There's so much different between the forms, though. Almost every inch of the Gundam changes between modes. That's a lot of new tooling for a p-bandai release.

It'd be better then just only selling one form or having the stupid 1/144 thing try to transform.

Did Unicorn Mode Unicorns really sell that well for them to consider releasing both a Destroy and Unicorn mode RGs? I think maybe for compeltionists, they got it, but I think there aren't that many people who prefer Unicorn over destroy mode.

I don't think anyone bought the Unicorn modes other than, as you said, completionists.

Man, I'm super jealous of that cool weapon. Defintley made Origin stuff a lot more tempting to a lot of people with the new weapons. Sort of lore breaking in a sense, because on the box, the weapon looks like it can charge a beam, which Zeon didn't have that technology at that point.

It is, but it's also p-bandai sadly. It's pretty much a purple Origin Dom Test Type with the arms and head of the normal Zaku ii and a new shoulder. They're also marketing it as an Origin kit for some reason, even though it actually appeared in 08MST.

Yeah, the branding on that is weird. P-Bandai kinda sucks like that sometimes. Unless they are shoving the Origin stories of all the other One Year War era characters at the last minute or something lol.

It depends. Series popularity doesn't always mean a design is popular.

That said, if they wanted to go all-in with the various upgrades, it'd print money IMO.
