Sonic Frontiers is fun. That is all.

Ordered the game earlier. Can you please give me a summary of what the game is like? It'll be the first Sonic game I've played in a decade, so I'm really excited!

It definitely takes a little getting used to if you're really used to modern Sonic games, but once you get used to it the experience is smooth. There's alot to do in the hub zones and the traditional stages are short but sweet. Although getting some of the S Ranks is a pain.

This week has been nonstop but the upside of being locked to 40 hours with no OT means, since I worked two 12s this week, I'm off until Monday.

I was working overtime for like 3 weeks in a row last month. Paycheck was nice but I've been extremely unproductive since then.

I found all the S ranks to be on the easier side, first run would have me focus more on getting the red rings and after that, they'd only take me a handful of tries.


Except 1-2. That one took me about an hour and I beat it by milliseconds. Don't know how you're supposed to have time to spare without the M Dash trick

Does Frontiers have levels/ stages like other games? (e.g. Adventure 2 has City Escape, Wild Canyon, et cetera) Or is the game kind of an open-world?

I beat that one with two seconds to spare. Did it via just jumping across the rail-loop rather than boosting through it.

It has both. The hub is a wide open zone that you run around on, and each island you visit has more traditional stages you can visit.

So it's similar to the style of Adventure 1.

You need Portal Gears for them. Here's a fun hint, the Asura enemies can actually give you 3 of them, Cyloop it's legs and then homing attack the feet to get an extra one. You can also boost when breaking off the arms to cancel Sonic's falling animation to climb around it

Still haven't played the game yet, but it comes with a code to get the Treasurer's Box DLC. Have a PSN account, but have never purchased any DLC before. How do you redeem/ type the code? Can you get it directly by using the console, or do you have to use a computer/ laptop? The code expires in 2032.

Go to the PlayStation store through your console. In the menu you should see "Redeem Code."

1975 was when Toei was doing Ranger shows. JAKQ was the 2nd Ranger series. I was thinking that Shout might do a 42 - 42 split on the 1st series. The US started Ranger shows in 1993.

I'm watching nearly every episode of Transformers G1 ( Series I - Victory) in order this winter including the 1986 movie Transformers The Movie. In the spring I resume with Beast Wars forward. On Netflix maybe finish their trilogy. Going in release order where I can. This will be after Transformers Victory (Series VII) on DVD. In the spring I should be finished with Transformers Victory. I started with More Than Meets The Eye Parts 1 - 3.

We really are a long way removed from the time of arcade-sim or outright simulation games being A Thing on consoles.

Things really have changed. I just got my backwards compatible ps3 running again so I picked up Star Wars: The Clone Wars and...games were so much simpler back then. Back in the day, I was happy to just get into a vehicle and drive around shooting things. Nowadays, it'd be a $20 indie game, not a full-priced release.

I just cannot get excited for videogames in general anymore. It used to be a huge part of my life, I played every day. Planned the next game to buy after, always had one ready.

Nowadays I can't be bothered. I realized there are only so few games that I actually want to play, that the rest is entirely unnecessary.

Basically, From Software- and Mossmouth-stuff are the only things I want to buy no matter what. There are still some gems here and there, but these really are mostly indie.

Personally, I just don't have enough time to play anymore. It's probably just part of growing up, or more likely the path I've chosen in life.

WHY

From everything I've read, it's basically an art piece for SAO's 10th anniversary. It's weird, but it's not like it's actually anything planned for commercial release.

I don't play nearly as many video games as I used to either, but honestly that's fine. A lot of video games are great time sinks as a kid but aggressively disrespectful of your limited free time as an adult.

I used to be a gamer like you, then I took an arrow to the knee.

I mean I buy maybe one new-new game a year. I'm planning on grabbing Frontiers after I get a PS4 in a couple of weeks but like, that's the only game released this year that I'm going to buy. I just don't play as much due to lack of time and motivation. Hence why I appreciate mission-based games like Ace Combat a lot more these days, not that I ever didn't. Easy to knock out a couple of missions in an hour and feel like I've made some actual progress, as opposed to an open world game where there's always the pull to do More.

I feel like the video game industry is mostly filled with AAA games that focus too much on story, and less on gameplay. AAA games want to be like Hollywood blockbusters so badly. I hate playing games that you walk in a long linear line, and have stupid quick time events. It's worse when the first hour of the game is one big tutorial. This is why I hated games like Last of US because it felt like one big interactive movie than an actual game with good fun gameplay. Good story means nothing to me if the gameplay sucks. I'm not going to bother play through a boring or bad game just for the story.

When I play video games these days, they are older games, or indie games. If I do pick up a newer game, it's mostly a game based on a franchise that I like. For example, I played the newer Samurai Showdown game because I'm a huge fan of the franchise. I also plan to get KOF15 for Christmas as well. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge is the new 2022 game that I played because I hear it was great (it was), and I do like TMNT (for the most part).

Speaking of Christmas, Japan is also preparing to release an interesting holiday movie this year:

Not yet. I was watching the Ranger line Post Zyu (MMPR I). I'm almost done with Kyo Ryu. 16 and the 2 part finale. I'm resuming To Qu as well. (Skipped by Saban for Ninja Steel). Go Busters was adapted by Hasbro as Beast Morphers which I saw on Netflix.

I don't get why people are mad over Dunkey's review on the new Sonic game?

From what I know, he both spoiled the endgame (this is after he did the same with Xenoblade 3), and he panned it... which made his fans go and review bomb it because "Dunkey says it's bad". And then those fans tried to blame that on Sonic fans which is certainly a choice. Honestly, I think it's one of those cases where it's not this individual instance that's overly bad, but he's just been grating on people for a while.

Never heard of Dunkey or seen/ read their review, but I'm guessing they don't like it?

I'm almost done with Kyo Ryu. (14 and the 2 Part finale.)

I'll also be resuming To Quger as a double up. Once I see Kyo 48 I finish the final episodes of To Quger. Also the 2nd half of Nin. The May sets help for watching offline but those sets will later be swapped out. Place holders so no shows are missing.

It will take a while for Shout to bring them over after Deka. Magi - Geki are Brazil NTSC sets and they will also be changed over when Shout releases them.
