So the third one is.... Amazon Beta?

The reason for the new Amazon seems pretty self evident to me, and well built-up as well. The shady guy from the company has explicitly expressed interest in commercializing the Amazon cells (and also the belt) for military purposes. This new Amazon is him doing exactly that.
Now, unless he goes out of control, he probably won't be an actual antagonist in the sense that he won't be actively working against the heroes. However, his existence is still definitely something both Riders would oppose, though for pretty much opposite reasons. I don't think he'll be a "big bad," even if he does eventually become an antagonistic force that the others have to band together to fight. The real enemy in Amazons appears to be hubris, and this guy is just one more consequence of it. |
Episode 8 honestly had the best finisher in Kamen Rider history. He just Rams into the Amazon with his bike causing him to explode. Bravo, you just made this show even more gory.

The parallels between an innocent Amazon and a guilty human was quite nice. The fact that they play on the morality of it all makes it even nicer.
I think this was the best finisher Omega has ever used with the spear that skewered three Ants coming second to that. Out of all the characters, Takayama Jin (Alpha) is my favorite followed closely by Misaki Kazuya (shotgun guy, guy who talks to civilians). haruka is a nice character and all but he is still just a fledgling. |

I don't like the direction, honestly. I wanted an all out war between Alpha and Omega. Have their ideals clash, as the show was actively demonstrating. Now we have this schmuck tossed into the mix. |
I'm surprised at how badly the show let Nozomi get beaten this week. It's really rare to see a show go all-out on male on female violence like that, especially in tokusatsu, where female villains and heroines usually get paired off to avoid showing the male hero attacking a woman. It was really brutal and for awhile there I was wondering if the show was going to kill off Nozomi. I'm glad Haruka didn't kill the guy at the end, but I am a little disappointed that they apparently just let him go and didn't even call the cops. It's one thing to not kill him themselves, but at least turn the crazy murderer in to the authorities.
The stuff with the Amazon of the week was good, too. I like seeing the continual evolution of Haruka as a character. Considering how annoying I found him at first, it's really impressive how much the show is making me invested in his development. Mizuki, meanwhile, is still completely pointless. Quote:

Plus, even if they're both fighting against the same enemy, they can still find themselves clashing, as they did in the past couple of episodes. The new Rider(/how to deal with him) may well be the catalyst that really drives them to be at each others' throats. I don't really expect him to last beyond this season, anyway, which I do personally expect to be only the first of two. I don't expect him to be more than a new flavor of Amazon of the Week. Anyway, I agree with Switchblade on the serial killer. At the end I was just waiting for them to say they were calling the cops or something...just...waiting. I'm gonna assume it did happen and they just didn't show it because...reasons. They also didn't show them helping the couple in the woods or calling for medics to help them, but they kinda implied they would so...eh, gotta assume. |
Wow was this week's episode brutal.

So apparently the third amazon rider is named "Amazon Sigma"
