I wonder why Sentai Figuarts aren't drawing in the money they used. I hate to say this but does Japan want Super Sentai to be more like Power Rangers? Could it be THAT reason?!?

I will admit if I can buy a Mario Figuart I would in a flash. He is part of my childhood along with Mega Man and the TMNT. (Still not thrilled with the 2012 versions of the Turtles. Why won't someone tell me why they're popular? Please tell me because I really want to know why.)

So I just found out there will be a figuart of Sadako from Ringu.

A horror icon? That is laughable. I think of 200 other horror icons before I even of her. Hell, even Kayako from Ju-On is more memorable than Sadako. In fact, I could not even remember her name until I saw someone post it.

And I doubt the Sentai Figuarts would sell poorly if they would just bring out the entire ****ing team!!

She's a horror icon in Japan, and a film icon as a whole over there. And considering figuarts are Japanese toys, it makes sense that there would be a figure over her regardless of the line. Outside of Japan she isn't an icon because really only the J-Horror fans will know about Sadako instead of her Ring counterpart. So I think it's a little unneeded to laugh at the idea of her being considered an icon.

Kayako to me wouldn't make that great of a figuart, as all she did was crawl on her hands and knees. Sadako did that too but she also got up and walked and what not. It's sort of ironic I'm saying that since I do prefer the Ju-On series over the Ringu one, but I don't know personally I see Sadako as a more of the one to go for figuart wise. Though I would kill to see a Kakihara figuart.

But there are J Horror films that are actually good that can be made into toys if they must do so. Hell, why not do various Yokai like a Kappa or Kamaitachi or something? The Ring series is mediocre at best. And I disagree. Sadako walked, but having a Kayako would be a great way to show of the posseability of a Figuart with all of the body contortions and stuff that she did in the movies. You might look at it as crawling, but I look at it as true acting by the way the actress moved her body in ways you would not expect it to. That to me is far creepier and iconic than a girl that comes out of a TV and walks like a zombie.

What you consider mediocre,good,creepy or iconic doesn't matter to the Japanese.

Don't get me wrong about Kayako, she's great and I will admit that she would be fun to pose in figuarts style. But I simply feel as if Sadako is probably the bigger of the two, and thus has better draw power of being a figuart in a business/promotion aspect. And as I said, I think she'd sit well next to the other figuarts.

Sadako is a bit of a left field release but I can totally understand it. She's most definitely a Japanese horror icon and I can see collectors pouncing on this.

Sailor Saturn? So soon?

I expected her to be last given she was the last of the Sailor Scouts to join in the series. Of course, given Jupiter's removal from coming out before Venus... (When is she coming out now, Bandai!?)

She looks a little tall, but since it's a prototype I'm not complaining. I just hope with Jupiter hopefully being taller than the other Inner Scouts, Saturn will be shorter given she is the second shortest Scout (Sailor Chibimoon being the shortest) if I recall correctly.

I was hoping that they will finally do Devilman figuarts. I want to do Mazinger Z vs. Devilman on display for so long.

there was Sadako 3D released in 2012 and Sadako 3D-2 in 2013 so it is still relevant. the only difference is the video isn't seen by vhs in it. still want her. after all one of the gantz characters was based on her.

I'm REALLY hoping that once Bandai are done milking Tiger & Bunny for everything its worth, this will be the next place they go.

With how poorly Samuri Flamenco's DVD sales are doing, I don't think we'll be seeing much from it merchandise and figure-wise.

I honestly don't know what they could do with Tiger & Bunny anymore. Another slightly changed Tiger from the upcoming movie? I really don't see them doing a Jake... So besides him there's literally nothing left.

And like Den-O, I hope they milk Samumenco for all it's worth too. I'd probably only get one Flamenco (which one being the important question) but just the existence of Red Axe, the Flamengers, and the Flamenco Girls would be awesome.

I'm surprised any DVD can sell well in Japan given the simply outrageous prices they set them at. So unless I'm wrong and they actually somehow do, I hope you can excuse me for not believing that to be any indicator at all that any sort of figure merchandise is unlikely.

When it comes to anime in Japan, DVD sales are a big indicator of a show's success. The better it sells, the more likely the series is to get more promotion, merchandising or even a continuation via a second season, OVAs or a movie.

It indicates popularity within the community since fans are paying the prices to want to both keep the series and support it. So the less a series sells, the less popular it is. If the show itself isn't going to sell, why bother putting the money into any merchandise for it?

I still recall buying anime on VHS here in America until they forced me to buy DVD when they stopped putting them out in the VHS format. I'm old school, what can I say?
I still have a ton of VHS tapes of movies I liked from the 80s and 90s. Half aren't even on DVD or Blu-Ray as far as I've seen.

I just don't see how they can sell at the prices they are. I totally understand how sales are relevant to a show's success, I just don't think they should be the only measure, as you seemed to imply they are. Especially when said measure has such a high barrier to entry.
