I don't deny that it's a decent show. But Goseiger is better. Sorry, it just is.

Subjectively, you can say any show is better. After all, entertainment varies between viewers.
Objectively, it's a fact that Gekiranger is just superior (You see how I can just say "It's better because I say so" too? It's a crappy argument)

Its funny, because for me personally Geki and Gosei are like the polar opposite of each other :lol

Gekiranger is a show with a plot and (for the most part) characters that are incredible, but with less impressive costume and mecha design.

Goseiger on the the other hand is a show with costume and mecha design that are incredible, but with a less impressive cast and (often lagging) plot.

The one thing that have in common though is that they both have epic antagonists :D

While I'm not even gonna try to defend Geki's mecha, it's costumes are actually pretty nice. They grow on you, the sleek suits that, while built no differently than any other Sentai's costume, isn't broken up with a belt or superfluous accessories to give it a look all it's own, and I like that.

Man, I Just don't have the time to watch anything right now. I wanted to watch Jetman since I have given up on Gobusters, and I still need to rewatch One Piece's Skypiea arc so I can start watching the new DVDs, but I do not have time. Between moving last week and working again, I have been too exhausted to really focus on anything. I could not even bring myself to watch TDKR after picking it up last night.

On that note, GekiRanger is an incredible show, one of Sentai's best. It has some of the best villains since GoGoV. It has a great cast of rangers, some unique concepts and ideas, and the fights remind me of those found in both Dai and Kaku.

I'm glad you aren't defending the mecha. Because no one can :lol I'll give it one thing, Geki Violet is easily the best non-standard color and costume for a sentai hero I've ever seen. Love it. Gosieger on the other hand? I love all the costumes, I absolutely adore that regal almost royal look they all have, especially Knight.

The mecha bug me because in general I LOVE big crazy stackers. Ultimate Daibouken and G12 are 2 of my favorite sentai robos ever. Ultimate for it's simplicity and stream-lined combo. G12 for it's absurdity. Gekiranger being in the middle of those 2, and lacking a truly awesome combo like that really brings the mecha down in my eyes. The Saidaioh combos almost go somewhere but not far enough. Goseiger really does it for me in that regard with wacky combos too.

The show itself isn't terrible but there are just so many aspects to it that bug me. Like Jan being so annoying, stated issues with the mecha, and costumes. I found the characters themselves to be far too annoying to attach myself too. Rio and Mele are cool to a certain extent but they really don't blow me away like they seem to do for most people.

Anyway, I'll agree that Jan is kind of annoying, but I adore Retsu and Ran. Gou is a great character, and Ken is...Alright. He always seemed tacked on, imo.

As for Rio and Mele, I enjoyed them so much because, based on my experience with Sentai, KR, and PR, I'm really rather used to having a one note antagonist who just sits around throwing monsters and getting angry when they die. No character growth. No character depth. Just "He's evil because don't question it. He's the bad guy." So seeing Rio and Mele, the (First) antagonists of the series go through their own character arcs, growing and evolving, having a shifting motivation was a thing of beauty to me.

Basically, Rio and Mele didn't feel like villains who appeared at the beginning and end of an episode in their death fortress talking about evil schemes. They felt like actual characters.

Honestly, Jan is no more or less annoying than the likes of Ban, Ryouga, Kai, and Alata. He's from the jungle, so he is supposed to be hyper.

As for the mecha, while I'll agree they aren't the best, GekiTouja is awesome because he is not some heavy mecha. He is skinny and can actually move around.

My favorite ranger though is GekiChopper. I do not know why, but I really liked his personality.

And Matrix is pretty much dead on why I like Rio and Mele. They were more than just there to cause evil deeds, they had development, they grew, etc. That is the same reason why the Saima Clan are my favorite villains in all of Sentai. Even though they started out as just beings wanting to take over the world, there was more to them because they were siblings.

Just watched the Poohtan episode of Jetman. I haven't loved a "MOTW of the week isn't such a bad guy after all" story since the one in Boukenger (which was also probably my favourite episode of that series).

Epic 11 of Gosei. EPIC is correct! Hyper Datas debut was the ish I gotta get me one of those. I will now officially say he is my favorite Goseiger

Once you get up to the late 30's and see him destroy an evil clone of himself you'll think hes even more of a badass.

Man, with Blade and Kiva I could just keep telling myself "It gets better" with the early episodes and fight through.
But I have no motivation to do so with Gosei...I even have Go-On sitting here, but I don't want to start that until I finish Gosei.

I've seen the first 20 episodes and they were pretty cool, but I ran out of a budget to buy the other 3 volumes, and at this point, I probably won't get them.

I'd love to, but what few episodes were subbed were lost when Megaupload went down. Did see the first and last episodes, though; looked really cool.

You could always watch both. Hell, I'm currently balancing three different Toku Shows(Kabuto, Dairanger, Gekiranger), and that's not including Wizard and Go-Busters. I've actually considered adding another show, since I finished RyuKenDo recently, but I'm having trouble deciding between a handful of different shows.

I tried to watch 3 shows at once, with Ryukendo, Ryuki, and Faiz. I quickly lost focus as I watched just Ryuki while the other two sat.
I never did finish Ryukendo or Faiz :lol

Watched Epic 3 of Gosei.
Why am I posting about just watching one episode? Because this was the first episode that I wasn't sitting in boredom as I watched. Moune and Agri's sibling dynamic makes for interesting storytelling, and I hope they expand upon it. While I think the events of this episode could've been stretched to two episodes, to further show the Landick's tension and eventual acceptance of the team, I think it was pulled off decently enough.

I'm watching a few Sentai 1st episodes tonight to decide which one I want to start watching. I just watched the 1st episode of Goseiger. Long story short, I don't think this series will be the one I'll want to continue with. Next up, Shinkenger!

I don't think pilot episodes are the best way to go when gauging interest in a series. On my "I hate" list, up top is pilots, because they have to introduce an entire cast, introduce a premise, give us glimpses of character traits and personalities (Often exaggerated than what's seen in the rest of the series), and, for action series, give a fight scene to demonstrate the action.

Anyway, finished episode 4 of Gosei. If Datas was shoehorned in any harder I might've gotten whiplash.

Oh don't get me wrong, watching 1 episode out of a 50 episode series certainly isn't the best way one could go about determining their desire to watch said series, but in my position, it's literally the only way I can go about that without getting so invested I might as well download the series, which is a luxury I save for series that I have a confirmed interest in. :)

Anyway, watched Shinkenger's pilot. I definitely like this more than Goseiger. And now, Boukenger!

I understand. It's just that pilots are often poor episodes for any series.

Please god let the Warstar die off soon. The Warstar is probably the worst kind of villains. Standing around in their death fortress, brooding and discussing their next plan to take over/destroy earth.

Finished Boukenger's first episode. It was pretty good, but not as good as Shinkenger. If Magiranger can't top it, then it looks like Shinkenger will go into the regular viewing schedule.

Good luck with Shinkenger. I found it to be dreadfully boring.

Their replacements are worse.

Considering the Warstar pretty much hit every point in my Crappy Villain checklist except for "Throw hissy fit when monster dies", I not sure to believe you :lol

Wow. Something we completely agree on. I find pocket lint more interesting than the Shikengers themselves.
Don't listen to him. The Warstar are weaksauce villains. But the Yumma Beasts? Top Notch bad guys, easily the best villains of the series.

Finished Magiranger's first episode, and big surprise, it wasn't as good as Shinkenger. It probably doesn't help that I've seen a video review of Magiranger, and I pretty much knew everything that was gonna happen. :/

Hell no. I dropped Shinken at around episode 20 or so. :lol

Shinkenger suckered me in with neat designs and a cool transformation gimmick on their Voltron Oh.

Trust me, I know the Warstar suck. At least Walz Gills was semi interesting to watch. The Warstar are dreadfully boring ;A;

Dereputa and Mons Drake are easily the kings of the bland villain empire. Buredoran continues to be awesome through out the show though. I really find the Yuuma (Makuin and Kingugon) to be fantastic and interesting villains.

I don't think those two even have personalities.
Buredoran looks like the villain in the Gosei/Gokai movie, so I assume he sticks around for a while.

That would be him in his true form :) And yes he sticks around for a LONG time. The entire series, both Goseiger movies, 199 Heroes, and he's briefly in Super Hero Taisen as a resurrected bad guy. One of sentais best villains in a long time. He may not stack up to Rio and Mele for you but for me he's right up there. Deliciously evil.
