Got a bit bored and looked up the crew sizes of the various ships that appeared in TLJ, the total manifest across all first order ships was about 4,900,000. and the total manifest of resistance troops was about 2000(?) (not certain).

My conclusion from this is that the First order were extremely prolific kidnappers and or the remaining imperial troops that formed the first order were very "prosperous"

It's from JJ, so I doubt it will be good. I found myself liking Episode 7 less and less with each viewing. The movie is pretty mediocre and plays it too safe. The Last Jedi had issues, but I take it over Episode 7. Episode 8 try to add some new stuff to the lore and did some risk to keep things new. I hate the Casino filler crap in the movie, but I enjoy everything else about the film.

Episode 8 is far from great in my opinion, but I still take it over the prequels and Episode 7.

The only Star Wars related thing I'm excited for these days is the upcoming TLJ re-edit by Ivan Ortega of YouTube. The trailer for it is already out for those that are interested.

In other news, EA is making another Star Wars game. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. And get this, no microtransactions, entirely single player/story focused.

EA. If this is true, you finally learned your lesson. However, this is still EA. They've had a huge terrible track record in recent years. No microstransaction may mean "a shitload of paid DLC". Plus there was the whole debacle with Battlefront 2's microtransactions prior to and after launch.

EA has not been good in over 15 years. So I have very low hopes on them making a good Star Wars game.

Well it's respawn publishing the game. I have faith that Respawn will make a good Star Wars game, I just don't trust EA enough not to keep their greedy little hands out of it.

The cinematic trailer looks impressive, I'm just waiting to see what the gameplay will be like before I decided if I wanna dive into it or not. They really need to hit a home run with this after the Battlefront 2 fiasco.

It's not a good sign when a new movie in a franchise has to rely on archive footage of past films to promote this new one. What's sad is all the shills (even those claimed to be critical of TLJ) are eating it up. Save for the archival footage, it's not a terrible trailer but it's not something that can generate enough interest to make the public forget about TLJ and Solo. I'll be giving this a hard pass in theaters.

I'm with you on all points here. I'm far more excited for the Disney+ stuff than the films. The Mandalorian, the Cassian Andor series, and Ewan McGregor back in the Obi-Wan show, all are more interesting than the lackluster sequel films have been.

The Obi-Wan thing... on one hand, having McGregor back is amazing.

On the other... the Kenobi book is so damn good, I fear the show might not live up to my expectations.

The hate this movie gets is shameful. The way people act over not liking a single movie makes me sick. I left the theater and was admittedly bored, but seeing little kids walk out alongside me being excited as hell made me smile. This movie isn't made for me and that’s okay.

When I was a child I loved watching the prequels on the big screen, I don't care how many adults hated them back then.

I had a blast with it, enough to go see it again with a coworker. I had and have problems with it and the Sequels at large but even with that, I genuinely consider it to be in my Top 3 Star Wars movies (actual placement changes depending on the day and how cranky I am).

I just... Eh. I'm not feeling Rise of Skywalker. Something feels very off and it feels a lot like The Mouse trying to have its cake and eat it too, which is a much larger discussion for another time, thread, and possibly forum.

I can't get hype up for Episode 9 because I didn't like the last two Sequel movies and I dislike JJ as a film maker. I don't like any of his movies other than Star Trek 09 and even that movie has some major issues with it.

Oh, hey, I just realized that lightsaber is a lot like the pair Pong Krell used. I’m sure that had literally nothing to do with it, but, that’s pretty neat actually. Always loved that design.

TLJ didn't kill Star Wars. It died long ago with Attack of the Clones. While Phantom Menace was not a good film it was at least entertaining. Episode II was boring and did the unthinkable by making Star Wars dull. TLJ was not a good film. It's entertaining for some but for most it was insulting to fans of Star Wars lore. That plus the terrible PR by Disney and Lucasfilm has put people off from any new Disney Star Wars films.

I still plan on wanting to see TLJ regardless of negative feedback.

... This is somehow an even stupider opinion. Look, I'm just ever so slightly too young to be prequels age. The first Star Wars film I saw in cinema? The dodgy Clone Wars prequel. But you know what? And I love Star Wars. It's always been there in the background. Be it Lego, TV shows, toys, parodies, EU stuff, just general pop culture, it's felt more alive than a lot of other properties - including Power Rangers. Saying it died is ignoring how another generation was brough into the fandom, and the same. And saying TLJ is a bad film is your opinion, but as a fan of Star Wars lore, as you so call them, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

You know what I hate? Them revealing Darth Vader is Luke's father. Goes completely against the lore from Star Wars where they say his father died in a shuttle accident or something. Can't believe they'd betray the fandom like this. Plus, they show someone levitating an X-Wing with the force! The force hasn't been shown to be able to do that! It's stupid.

I feel like the AT-ATs really threw all credibility out the window. Why would you need a walking assault vehicle like that when you can just send in fighters and bombers to destroy the base? It's impractical and at no point was it ever indicated that the Empire had or needed walking tanks.

George Lucas wanted to milk it for all its worth. That doesn't mean the movies were all that great. Plus the toy sales peaked during the Clone Wars TV show. Which was a popular show for the franchise. I didn't get into it but I acknowledge it's popularity and impact on the franchise.


A purely hyperbolic statement. You speak from emotion instead of the objective reality that The Last Jedi is no where near as popular or beloved as The Empire Strikes Back. It's your opinion that you liked the film. No one can take that away from you. But just as there are fans of The Room, at least they can accept objective reality that it's not a good film. Narratively, The Last Jedi is a piss poor film and adds nothing to the franchise. As a stand alone film it's an ok popcorn flick when you are looking to watch bad sci-fi/fantasy. But as a part of a franchise, well at least The Room didn't have anything to live up to.
