Locke, pretty sure he says the Power Lance has great "range," not "rage."

I just watched the Dino thunder episode lost and found in translation. I want to watch the whole Abaranger series now.
Also i'm actually wondering in-universe of Power rangers is that Japanese show still going? :lol |

If you say so, but I doubt it.
Parents should be teaching their kids the difference between reality and fantasy, so kids should know that what is on tv is NOT real. As such, children should know that anything that happens in Kamen Rider IS fake. Meaning there was nothing insensitive because it is a tv show. |

Watched the first episode of Dragon Knight. It was a mixed bag, but certainly interesting enough to keep me interested.
First off...Wing Knight has a signature bike?!? That alone tells me they've gone to some sort of effort adapting this show and I'm going to appreciate it purely on that alone. The transformation sequences are really cool too. But, man the acting is pretty ropey. I guess its passable since its not something I watch these shows for, but it certainly stood out to me a lot more than it does in most PR shows. The civilian guise of Wing Knight (haven't had his name yet in-show) looks utterly ridiculous too, he can't pull off the Terminator look at all. I'm curious to how exactly the monsters work in this show too. The mirror monsters of Ryuki were fairly straightforward to understand from the first episode but this was a lot more complex. There's a mirror world, but they can come out of it, but most people can't see them, but then Kamen Riders can transform in the real world and people can see them? I'm sure it'll be explained, I just thought it was a lot to process. Oh and the "... vent" voice sucks too. Just as well I can read/know that the cards are anyway because half the time I can't understand it. Regardless, looking forward to more! |

Most of the actors weren't actors but martial artists so they grow into their roles as the show goes. That isn't in defence of the acting so much but it does get better. Also I never really understood the monsters either, most of the time they are just kinda...there. They might explain them but despite the amount of times I've seen the series I can't remember what that explanation was. And you can't understand the Driver voice? I thought it was fine. |
I love the Driver voice... I want the "Final Vent!" sound for my voicemail alert, heheh!

Oh yeah the show is up on YouTube fully, that is where I watched the show for the first time a few years back and I still use clips from the youtube ups from time to time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PRY_lRMj-y8

I watched the first 7 episodes of MMPR Season 2 today and did anyone ever realize that TOmmy's shield seems to be Composite Shield when he is in the command center? One side is completely round like the Jp shield while the other side still goes out straight and then curves.
|
Tommy's shield was always messed up in the PR footage. Made it even easier to spot the Sentai stuff. I think the story is that they didn't know about their being a another ranger until a couple weeks before they got to those episodes and so the suit was just rushed together.
|
So they didn't watch Zyuranger before they made Mighty Morphin? When they made Dragon Knight they watched through the whole of Ryuki and worked through how to make it work for an adaptation. I assumed Power Rangers did the same.

I didn't say it was a good practice, I just don't think comparing the first show to adapt a Japanese one of that kind to one that did it over 15 years later with source material 6 years older is a very fair comparison. |

They never watched MegaRanger. They just watched promotional footage of the zords and assumed it was a space series, only realizing it wasn't when they began altering footage for In Space :p Imagine how Time Force could have ended up if they kept doing this practice by then :lol |

However, it still seems like they made him a new shield for the command center scenes, which is half line and curve and half all curve. |

I thought the story was that they saw the promo footage before MegaRanger ever aired and that was all they had available to them. Since it looked like a space setting they set up the end of Turbo to go into space. They found out before they started shooting In Space what the plot actually was but decided to just go with it as they already had a story going. |

Assuming that 1) Turbo's finale was filmed a month before airing and 2) They had scripted Chase Into Space to lead into the "Grand Finale" that was In Space 3 months prior, There really isn't much excuse for being so off when they had 5 months worth of Megaranger footage available. And before anyone gets on my case, I know the numbers for the months were BS and not accurate. I based the statements on the amount of time it takes to film a 20 minute long show, along with the statement that Lost Galaxy aired episodes mere weeks after they finished filming them, one case (During the Lights of Orion saga) being aired mere days after they finished filming. The numbers for the months were simple approximations since they didn't need to provide 100% of the filmed footage. In all honesty, I really think the 3 months worth assumption to write and finalize the script for In Space is being very generous. |

I for one would have loved to see Exhaus as Dark Spectre instead of Goldgoyle. |

Very interesting. They definitely took the better route with that. I wonder why they wouldn't screen the footage then if it could have been reasonably made available to them. Still, that does make it seem like they had enough info to know what they were doing. |

It worked out for pretty much all parties (except, I guess, Blake Foster), as In Space was a hit in the ratings, and Saban was able to build off of that success to transform the show into the annual adaption format, which allows the show to exist without some of the snarls of the earlier format (namely, if you replace your characters each year, you don't need to keep writing them out of the story when the actor want a raise).
