Started watching The Batman again after Beware got me on a Batman hype, despite being almost ten years old, I'm amazed by how well this has aged. The art direction is so cool and it is just wonderfully animated, the fight scenes are so fun, even obvious corner cutting is done in such stylish ways that it seems deliberate.
The characters are all great, Ethan is great fun, this version of Alfred is just awesome, I actually think this is one of my favourite Jokers, mixing his trademark insanity with a formidable fighter. Ironically the one character I don't really care for is Bruce, I think they did the whole rookie young Batman thing way better in Beyond. The Batman Bruce is no Terry, that is for sure. |

The Batman is a series that felt pretty disjointed, it felt like it could never decide if it wanted to be The Animated Series, it's own unique light hearted take on the Dark Knight a thirty minute toy commercial, or Justice League. That said…I despite my gripes…I do like Batman's design in the show, I like the longer ears how his cape wraps around his entire body that makes for some pretty cool imagery. Batman VS Dracula also was a pretty enjoyable movie. |

Vampire Joker, fuck yeah! |
Also just putting it out there but…The Batwing in TheBatman is pretty much a Tie Fighter :lol
|
YUP! My buddy Jeff Wong designed that batwing...and he loves the tie fighter design..so it was his tribute. hehehehe. He was sooooo disapointed when he saw the toy at Comic-con...

TTG is too humorous for fans of the original. But it might work very well in Japan. Yeah I saw an episode and thought, "This looks like a Widget Series version of Teen Titans." |
What's strange is that my favorite (same with Bruce Timm and all the other animation folks) Superman animated movie is probably the one that the general audience hated the most. Superman Allstar.
and for some reason, the major population think that Superman Public enemies is the best one...cause muscles ontop of muscles ontop of bulging veins McGuinnes style seems to appeal to the masses. We're still stumped by it. I guess thats what makes this an intersting world. Different tastes. Same goes for New Frontier. Those of us that worked on it, HATED it..find it to be one of the worst ones. We love Darwin Cook's original material...but the script and animation was just horrid. Ah well. Different strokes for different folks. :) |

If that doesn't explain Cartoon Network, I honestly don't know what does. Taking your Favorite Shows and replacing them with Logs. |

Superman: That's ridiculous. I'd be the first one to suffer from... President Luthor: SUPERMAN DID IT DEFYING ALL LOGIC! THERE IS NO LIMIT TO HIS MADNESS! AS PRESIDENT I AM ORDERING ALL SUPERHEROES AND SELECT VILLAINS TO BRING HIM and Batman DOWN! Yup. That was Loeb's writing at its best right there:( |

Also I thought Public Enemies had awesome fight scenes but I wasn't really impressed with much else, it was better than Apocalypse though which was only worth watching for the Darkseid fight right at the end. |
Watched more of The Batman. It's a weird experience, it's heavily censored in that way that so many shows from the last decade are and yet in other senses it feels like a real call back to the 90s.
Bruce's tragic backstory is here in full glory, along with the constant questions of his mental state and the show doesn't pull any punches or soften it in any way, it just has to find new ways to present it to get past censors. The villains are damn twisted as well, the show gets really dark and really allows the villains to get away with more than you'd think would be allowed, whether it be Bane breaking Bruce to pieces, Penguin unleashing his birds to feast upon Alfred or Man Bat flying around draining the blood of animals or whatever else. |
I checked out the first episode of that Kaijudo show after my interest was peaked by this thread (it took ages to download) and I was pleasantly surprised. I'll be the first to say that I hate the modern trend of Western Cartoons trying to emulate anime, it rarely works and usually comes across feeling like one of 4kids abortions they call dubs but Kaijudo really worked very well, at least the first episode did thanks to some solid art direction, really cool monsters and great animation.

Sooooo now it looks like Simpsons is crossing over with Futurama
What next? American Dad? |
I am absolutely smitten with Kaijudo! The characters in this are so good and I love the dialogue and chemistry. It's rare a show has me roaring with laughter but this is just fantastic.

Hopefully the next thing is to finally cancel the Simpson. For the love of god please put that show out of it's misery. |

Probably. |

While it's easy to tell what the season's twists are going to be early on, they draw them out and that make the big reveals much more meaningful and fulfilling. |

I just love all the characters and the chemistry between the characters, it's clichéd and predictable but it just has so much life. The action scenes are fantastic, the animation is great and the banter between the characters - especially Raiden and Bob has me roaring with laughter unlike really anything, I'm loving this. |

I can't even begin to think of another show that has such a diverse group. It's nice to see and really widens the scope of the show. |

I will admit that I wasn't crazy about the character designs at first but I got used to them. |
I think my favourite monster is Razorkinder so far, that thing is nightmare fuel for something out of a kids cartoon, looking at what happens when it removes its mask, I mean that literally....
|
For a kid show advertising a card game, I quite like how adult Kaijudo feels. It doesn't seem like there's any sugar coating involved at all, and I liked what I saw of the opening, but my plate is full enough as it is and I really don't need to add another show ontop of what I'm watching.

I miss network television having really good cartoons on Saturday morning. Now a couple of things ruined it, I know. Cartoon Network was one of them. It made Saturday morning less special, because now you can see SWAT Kats all the time (Boomerang, Love it). But what really destroyed the quality of Saturday morning cartoons was 4Kids.TV and heavy-handed censorship. Blatent heavy-handed censorship.
I really miss FoxKids having cartoons on in the afternoon instead of some stupid ignorant sitcom. One thing you should know about me, upfront, I hate Sitcoms. I hate sitcoms with the same frothing furver as I hate Quantam Ranger. But that's neither here nor there. I really wish why we assume kids are so delicate now and need constant coddling. I grew up watching Gi-Joe battle Cobra, Optimus Prime stomping mudholes in Mgeatron's backside, Exo-Squad and it's excellent storytelling, and Jem teaching me women can transform into pop stars. I turned out alright. It's just sad is what it is. Now we do have some decent cartoons now, some. Clone Wars is alright, and I enjoyed Young Justice before it was cancelled for that steaming pile of Titans. But The Batman (Sorry in advance Locke) will never hold a candle to the beauty that was Batman: The Animated Series. Teen Titans Go! will never be Exo-Squad. And Sonix X wishes it was Phantom 2040. By the way, I loved Phantom 2040. When I have children? They'll learn about the One Ring, the Madman in a Blue Box, the many Ways of the Force, how to play Quiddich, and that Sherlock can solve anything. They'll learn the Power of Greyskull, about the wisdom contained inside the AllSpark, about the Batman who defends the night, that as the sunsets Gargoyles come to life, and that Friendship is Magic. Parenting. Do it right. Okay, half-asleep rant over. Resuming normal service. |
Man I dunno how Kaijudo gets away with some of this stuff, these monsters actually...kill each other, even if they don't die and some of them are armed with real weapons. Plus the Shadow Spies, with the nails sticking out of their heads... *shudder*, I know it's just a kids show but the Dark Civilisation gives me the willies. Although Razorkinder is my favourite ironically :lol
Although Bob's sister, being a dragon with gatling guns comes in a pretty close second. |
