If you all were trying to get your friend to watch Ultraman Z, what clip or maybe episode would you show them to try to convince them?

I'd suggest episode 3 "Live Coverage! The Monster Transport Operation". A good combination between action and comedy and an early new form.

Yeah, I think that is a good sign, then. Really great, self-explanatory standalone adventure with a lot of fun moments. Those foreign dudes getting pumped about super robots and giants of light is still one of my favorite moments in the entirety of Z.

Anyway this is a fun little romp, I've not seen much of Tiga, so even with what we get, this should be fun.

I starting skimming through bits of this on a whim and ended up watching the entire first chunk about Z because it was just such a striking reminder how amazing a premiere that show had. The banter between Z and Haruki is flawless (the way the exposition is worked in is *so* smooth), and I had forgotten about that insane bit where Genegarg rams Z through a building that's put together to look like one long take.

Not much to talk about since this is a recap show but it is really nice that begining montage with all the cast and villians and then the Ultra hosts it was just a rush of nostlagia. And hopefully for a newer fan just pure delight for how vast Ultraman is.

But it kinda weird that we see Misuzu in Taro host's place.

And kinda sad that at least neither Ren, Nagi or Tachibana were there. Especially Ren since he was Junis Blue. But that just Nexus fan in me talking.

Fun fact, Nagano who played Daigo is the sole owner of the actual Spark Lens prop used in the 1996 Tiga show and brought it back for the 8 Ultra Brothers movie when he reprised his role. And yeah, screw Johnny's. I heard it through the grapevine that they took out his credits as Daigo on his public resume at one point and Nagano fought hard to have it restored cause Nagano carries that role with genuine pride. Seriously, to hell with them. Oh yeah, and the actress Takami Yoshimoto, who plays Rena the heroine of Tiga, is in real life Susumu Kurobe's daughter.

I wasn't really interested in watching this, but I had a look at it since they put subtitles on it. There's not a lot to say about it really, it's cut down versions of the first episode of Z and Tiga but they're good episodes. So, cool?

It sucks that they have to cut Daigo out of the show though. Johnny's is pretty shit.

Yeah, this is gonna be a pretty basic ultra chronicle all things considered.

They can't go wild cause of Covid which is understandable, but it's a dang shame given last years was Riku and Pega going to school with the Ultimate Force Zero alongside Zero teaching them and framing the 'Recaps' as lessons.

To the point where there were other alien students and there were even guest appearances by Leito and Juggler. It was fun.

This is soooo funny (in a sad way). How are they going to recap some of the more dramatic bits of Tiga without being able to show the main character. The answer will probably be 'awkwardly'.

I didn't know that, that is such a cool piece of trivia.

Man, I really need to finish watching Tiga. That was such a good show.

Yeah and the funny thing is that is her actual full name and Susumu Kurobe is the one using a stage name. His real name is Takashi Yoshimoto according to my findings.

I just... ADORE the love and reveration for Tiga so obviously present in these shots. As someone who just finished Tiga the other day this is really getting to me!

While it's a little disappointing, I hope the manga will deliver us something as good as the series did, and hopefully, we'll get it localized. Still odd that they're not planning a movie like they did for every season up to this point, but I guess it can't be helped given circumstances.
