Purple and Ninja
classic Toei |
stylin', helmet looks like like kijibrother's to me, sans mouthplate being different
|
Murasaki(purple)+same(shark) huh? That is nice.

@Topic: If Sentai wants to make it a habit to include a wicked cool looking purple extra Ranger every year now I'm not complaining. |
This is our 3rd purple antagonistic Ranger/Rider in as many season. Definitely a trend at this point.

Don Murasame is my favorite Donbrothers suit now! I love how the chest armor covers the black space on the torso, how the visor resembles a splitting tide and like, just the fact that he's a purple ninja shark man. He also has his own version of the Don Buckle in silver, which makes me wonder what Gears he's got in there! |

I read somewhere that she uses Murusame as a medium to speak but I haven't found a source for that. |
I just noticed something.
Behind the Reds/Sixth Rangers on the stickers for the Avataro Gears, you can spot the Team Logos for that Sentai Team. |
I wonder what would happen if a Donbrother other than one of the Dons used an Avataro Alter Gear. I assume it'd just summon the corresponding Alter, but the best way to know for sure is to see it happen on screen.

What are your thoughts on a Power Rangers title for Donbrothers?

How about "Power Rangers? Don't, Brother." I'm just kind of thankful that a Sentai season this good (this far) won't be adapted.

I love Power Rangers, but after seeing that purple octopus in Dino Fury, I don't have much faith in Hasbro's CGI to do Kiji and Inubrother justice.

I see DonBro being a way to nod the country that gave us PR by setting it in Japan. Granted, the Momotaro folktale doesn't have the same extent of cultural meaning in the West, but PR could be used as a vehicle to spread culture in this case. The only real Western comparison I can make is "James and The Giant Peach"! One aspect I can imagine is making the adaptations of Kiramager, Zenkaiger, and DonBro into a friggin trilogy! Sonoi and the other two are key. They appear from the onset. They have relations and confrontations with Sentai Villains that the OG Versions haven't yet. It's all a buildup to a battle with nearly a trillion Shisotsuki and Benitsuki who have unknown origins. They're all "destroyed", but they rain down and infect anyone and everyone! When a "King" Monster (the giant-sized versions we've seen so far in DonBro, reimagined as human-sized monsters who can enlarge at will) senses an infected human, they use the power of a "Ranger Gear" to transform said human into a monster. The team don't use the Morphin' Grid in the conventional sense cause this is an alternate universe that has little to no knowledge of the Grid! Instead, they enter a digital subspace to exchange places with their "Ranger Forms"! It isn't until they achieve Robotic Transformation capabilities that they legitimately morph. Don Onitaijin replaces Don Zenkaioh as the first primary Mecha, and the finisher is amended to make it less peachy! You also have the added benefit of Red making an in-joke with the line "Make My Megazord Grow!" As for InuBrother and KijiBrother, they're humans turned into animals! They can't regain a human form unless they switch places with their "Ranger Avatars" or legitimately morph! That's the nuts and bolts of what I have so far. |

Sure, you have adaptations of shows, like how Brooklyn Nine-Nine was adapted for French-speaking Canada. But they still bothered to film everything themselves. And yeah, you can call me a Sentai snob, purist, elitist, whatever. That doesn't change what power rangers is at its core. To paraphrase a quote from a movie from 2012: "It's a cost-cutting measure; everything special about it came out of Japan." TL;DR: I'll only see PR as a real franchise once it stops using Sentai footage, unlike now where it's just a "best of Super Sentai" with dubs. |

Don Murasame will also be capable of Alter forms.

However, you claiming it's not a "real franchise" sounds like gatekeeping to me, implying that people who enjoy PR are somehow wrong, or like Storious from Kamen Rider Saber believing anything derivative and unoriginal has to be inherently worthless. If people learn and change by watching PR, then that alone justifies its existence. |

Momotaro fighting Murasame each other...then Doragoku just going crazy xD |
One can never have enough transforming shark robots.

How many purple shark mechas are there in Super Sentai? The only one I can think of is GaoHammerhead.

I don't feel the need to quote all of the previous comments on this, but I would classify Power Rangers as it's own series. I don't even LIKE it, but the logic of saying that Power Rangers is "just a 'best of Super Sentai' with dubs" would make Anime Dubs not real series because they are just a best of that Anime, just dubbed over. It's totally just the argument between those who watch Dubbed Anime vs Anime with Subtitles. Sometimes, people who prefer to watch Anime with Subtitles will get on their high horses saying that "I am a purist. I watch Anime with the Subtitles".
Heavy Super Sentai Purists who think that only Super Sentai is valid and that Power Rangers isn't as good are pretty much like those who so proudly assert their dominance, saying that "I only watch Subs of Anime". Subs or Dubs. Super Sentai or Power Rangers. Asserting that one is objectively better and that one is objectively worse is a problematic view-point at best considering that, especially when manipulated to include more cultural contextual things like Power Ranger does to adapt Super Sentai is probably the way that many people get into Super Sentai. Even though I may prefer watching Super Sentai, I still think that the opinions of those who prefer Power Rangers are still valid. I mean, some people who tend to prefer Super Sentai still prefer Power Rangers RPM vs its original source material Engine Sentai Go-Onger. Power Rangers is an adaptation. "Big Bad Beetleborgs" was an adaptation of the Metal Hero series. Adapting foreign source material into a new form more culturally relevant for people in the country for which the adaptation is being made for has happened all the time. "West Side Story" was basically an adaptation of "Romeo and Juliet". "The Lion King" was heavily inspired by both African myths AND by "Hamlet". I prefer Super Sentai, but if someone else like Power Rangers, I don't care. It's just our opinions. The only time when I would say that Super Sentai is superior to Power Rangers is in the Modern Toys. Forcing in the whole "Zord Builder" functionality really was to the detriment of making good figures and felt too forced. |
They’re introducing rangers too quickly. We haven’t even finish black and pink story. There’s a running gold and silver twist on the background as well.

I hope Don Murasame gets a Robotaro form.
|
I friggin' love Don Murasame's design. Dat pink visor.
|
Yohohoy Matsuri da! Looks like more evidence that the Avatar Changes aren't color-locked for Dons, only companions. Considering how Twokaizer and Donbrothers both have the same-shaped red belts, the only visual difference here is gold V and silver peach. I think it would be cool to see Momotarou and Dragokuu/Torabolt use Go-On Wings together.

It seems like Don Mourasame can't use gears, so knowing it isn't going to be the variety of moves available to him, what's gonna give him the edge, at least initially?

It seems Murasame took a page from Saikou's book, and can turn into his own sword.
