Not to mention Zyuranger is pretty damn bad. But I digress.

As far as a starting point/s go my philosophy is that if you're coming here from PR just watch the Sentai version of your favorite season. But if we were to try and pick out some suggesting points, well I think there's at least enough unanimous "This is good so watch it" seasons to use. Infusing those with my own personal picks would probably come out as:

Gokaiger
Go-Busters

Well, if it's your first Sentai, you might not think that. That's where I started and I thought it was great.

Now, which of those do you think are good at introducing somebody to Sentai? While I personally didn't like it, I could see Megaranger as a decent introduction. Based on what I've seen of it (2 episodes) Liveman would be a great place to start, as long as you can get past the dated nature. I guess what I'm trying to get is more of a "what are beginner-friendly series" and less "what are great series" type list.

Well, the familiarity of the suits could make the other differences a lot easier to digest. At least, that's how it worked for me.

That was my great for beginners list though. I simply infused unanimous picks for best of all time with it. If I was to pick a single one though, I'd actually go with Megaranger. The story is simple enough for anybody to grasp and watch raw if needed (though with it fully subbed I can't imagine anybody watching it raw) and is fairly close to PR some with them being in school. Mega definitely isn't the best Sentai around, but it's simplicity and easy access makes it the perfect introduction.

Ah, I see. I personally wouldn't consider Dairanger or Go-Busters to be good for beginningers. Dairanger barely explains a lot of the staples (they just magically know how to do everything at the beginning. Also, on a personal note, it was the second Sentai I tried watching and almost completely turned me off from it.) and Go-Busters is way too different. Like I said though, I agree with Megaranger. It has a simple plot, the high school setting and secret identities make it familiar enough for Power Rangers fans, and it actually explains the concepts of transforming and the mecha. Whether or not it'll grab a viewer and reel them in is a different story.

I wouldn't call Dairanger a good series for beginners, but not for those reasons. It's just because it tries to do a lot of new things and only about half of them work.

Megaranger...Eh, I guess it's fine for a newcomer. For series like Magiranger and Abaranger, I can't comment since I never saw them.

I honestly think a good beginner series is Gokaiger. Gives you a run down of the history of sentai. It's a cliff notes history book turned into a show with its own running plot line. That is usually what I suggest to newcomers to sentai.

It does work in that regard, but it's not really selling you on the virtues of Gokaiger, but just using it to get cliff notes on other series.

I would recommend Gokai because it's a series with a lot of action, so people just wanting to see spandexed heroes kicking ass will get their fill with it.

That's the thing I DID enjoy about that show, there was a ton of action. I especially loved the clip from one of the movies/specials where the Red/Silver combination went through every Red suit in the series. Despite what i've said about not liking the suit changes, it was actually pretty awesome there.

Anyways, I agree with both of you. It's definitely action-packed and can give you an idea of where you might want to go next with the series. On top of that, I remember most of the cast being pretty likable. I can agree with Gokaiger being a good intro series.
