I'm mostly excited because the appearance of Greninja mean that it's not just a giant Gen 1 wankfest.

Yeah, given the way things have gone recently (and the games coming out this week...) I was afraid that this would be yet another Kanto wankfest, but there's actually a lot of later gen Pokemon. In addition to Greninja, there's Bouffalant, Braviary, Flabebe, Comfey, Pancham, Emolga, Audino, Rufflet, Morelull...and I think Aipom? Even Golurk. It seems more balanced than I'd expect, and that's just for the Pokemon that actually appear physically, stuff on signs and other stuff also draws from the entire series. I'm into it, that alone gives me hope.

And really, I don't hate the aesthetics. It's not something I'd ever want the games to look like, but for a standalone movie I think it works. They don't actually stray too much from their normal designs, which I appreciate. It looks like it could be a fun movie.
