Watched Kabuto episodes 15-18 over the last couple days, and it's made me love Kabuto, Drake and Kagami more. Really awesome characters and story so far.

As for the discussion of filler, I definitely agree with this. I really think Rider/Sentai series were 40 episodes long instead of 50. In fact, most anime series that are planned to be 50 episodes have this problem to (especially Gundam), because it is like the writers don't really have any way to develop the characters for that length of time, and due to a rushed schedule, don't have time to even figure more out, so they just write random nonsense. I get that some writers want to let the characters dictate the way the story goes, but unlike things such as One Piece (as Oda does), these series are already set to have around 50 episodes. With that, you need to have a planned beginning, middle, and end from the get go. I don't expect every episode to develop the plot. In fact, there are a lot of amazing episodes when you have individual stories. However, I don't like it when series will introduce the main character(s) in the first episode and have the next few episodes to develop those characters, and then they just go into a standard formula with nothing happening at all for another 10-20 episodes outside of a maybe a new character showing up or something. If you know how to write, you can easily pace yourself and have plot building up in some form every few episodes so your audience does not get bored. This is the problem with Black. It is one of my top favorite series because the stories it does tell are interesting and Kotaro is such a bad ass. However, you could pretty much cut the series down to 18 episodes. I mean, you need the first two episodes, the intro to Road Sector, then the first couple with Birugenia. From there, you can just skip right to the last episodes with Birugenia with the introduction of the Satan Saber and Shadow Moon's birth, and even skip another 7 episodes after that little mini arc for the last episodes. That kind of sucks for a series that has such a deep and intricate story to tell. Of course, they could have also spent some time developing Nobuhiko after he became Shadow Moon, having him turn into his human form and stuff, but nope, they would rather introduce two pieces of ass that do nothing but stand there. They don't even fight at all. And this is the main problem with Wizard, but also why I cannot hate Wizard. If I hated Wizard, it means I would have to hate Black, and even the original KR series. But then, even Shinkenger suffered from this issue to. They did a lot in the beginning, a lot at the end, but dragged the middle of the show out. Anyway, I really do wish they would either cut the series down to 40 episodes or just get better writers who can plan out a series to make it paced |

And as far as an explanation for the Makamou, I always just viewed them as a natural part of the world. Like any other wild animal, but more powerful and dangerous. |
Fourze 33 and 34, fieldtrip kittaaaa!
It was ok, I guess, the girl from this arc was kinda boring, and honestly after 34 episodes (and specially after the events of the last arc) we don't need to be reminded that Gentaro is willing to help his friends powers or not. That said we did learn more about Kengo's father, that was nice. Also Foundation X!!!, combining that with the girl that had a crush on Gentaro, it kinda felt like the Megamax Movie. |

So I started watching Ryuki episode Final, though I paused it about thirteen minutes in to make dinner. Let me just say it is AWESOME to see a female rider who, at least looks, badass. No frilly or bubblegummy crap or knock-knee'd whatever the hell Nadeshiko did after transforming. Instead she does cool martial-arts hand movements, kinda like Agito did. She's more of a typical knight than Ryuki. Though her cape and rapier make her similar to Knight design-wise, she's got a pretty cool look. Doesn't help that she's similar in colours to Wing Form, and also like Wing Form is based off a swan. Huh. Also her Sword Vent is awesome. I don't know what you call those big twin-blades sword things, but they're always cool. I can't imagine ho many weapons you can pull off a Swan though. Also, she's kinda funny, scamming a man by making others think he's scamming her. Horrible person, but funny. I know more than to, mostly, judge a Ryuki character by first impressions.
Also Zolda and Ryuki are back, fighting kind of together. Gorou even shows up and does his super-supporting powerful boytoy butler smile as Zolda transforms. Just seeing those two together again is awesome on account of how sad, but great, their final moments in the show were. |
Fourze 35 and 36
I liked it, a lot, it simply felt like a better JK arc than the first one, learning more about cosmic states was nice and they introduced the core switch so the story is moving forward. |
So watched Episode 4 of Decade, is it because I havent seen Kiva that I care nothing for this arc? Or is the fact that this is just boring? :lol

Oh hey, was Ouja beating up Gills' actor? Isn't there a rule about beating up characters much better than you are?

Also Switchblade got it, whateverherface/Naomi and Agito popped up. Also, Femme is really touchy-feely. Kind of at odds with her tough look. BTW, has there been a Figuart of her? |

Neat. Is it out or yet to be released?

I got side tracked from the movie again, almost forgot I was watching it. Oh man, I think I like Femme kinda. She killed Ouja! Well, kind of. I dunno, his death in the series was REALLY good, and for such a cool rider design Femme is kind of not that strong. The only reason she killed him was because of that Black Ryuki. Would've been better if she, y'know, actually beat him herself and not got knocked around. Also blank Ouja is apparently just Ouja with the saturation turned down. I was surprised when he started choking her but, really? He can hurt a rider in their costume? Aren't they, like, better protected? Especially under contract? How can a dude's hands hurt her, unless she was just surprised but that was a long time to be shocked.
It seems my praise for Femme was premature, she's visually cool and an interesting character like Zolda, but she's... physically weak. Why are women always weak? Granted Ouja has cheap-o plot power but that is even more reason for her to be able to stand against him, show off how cool this new rider is by going toe-to-toe with too-lazy-to-write-convincingly. She beat a bunch of monsters, but everyone can do that. Not everyone can beat Ouja, save for this Black Ryuki who has a pitched-down deck and visor so you know he MEANS BUSINESS. |

I still think Femme is awesome, though. Her scenes with Shinji were my favorite parts of the movie and a big reason why she's still my favorite Movie Rider. |

Archaic is a more apt word. I've never seen a girl in Kamen Rider that wasn't, in some way, a damsel at some point. And I don't mean just in jeopardy, I mean a women reduced to being helpless and in need of saving at SOME point. Seriously, she got attacked in rider form by a dying Asian Willy Wonka. That's BS man. |
I hate Femme. She is a terrible rider and dumb as hell. They might as well had made her a blonde.

Started watching Black. And I will never call him Masked Rider again. |

I'm not gonna say anything. ANYHOOOOOOOO so Femme just died. for no reason, just 'cuz. Sweet design, interesting character, killer of Ouja, just dead in a garden and no one even turns their head as they walk by. Does she, like, appear in something else, maybe? Something where she... does something? Also, Ren is, again, the stupidest dude in the world. He seriously got fooled by Ryuga. Is he colour blind, or can he just not see through the slits in his helmet? RYUKI IS RED. Red and shiney silver. He is literally the easiest colour next to Femme's to identify, which is also who Ryuga was fightign so bam super-easy to tell. How could he even make out that it was Ryuki-looking? Ryuga's jet black with no bright highlights save a very minimal gold trim, a colour Ryuki does not have. This is on par with Yuuto seeing Ryoutaro with cornrows and a feather boa and saying "something is off about him." (then again, at least in Den-O thy make it out like the visual differences are just for the audience's sake since nobody acknowledges them) I dunno, I kinda regret watching this. Ryuki had an AWESOME ending, reset notwithstanding. This is like a fast-paced removal of all the good parts from the real ending. Ouja died from a "boop" attack, Zolda just quit. (because, you know, Shiro saying over and over that Rider's can't quit and all... then again we've established that Magnugiga is apparently on a hunger strike or gives not one single fuck about anything ever so if any monster would let their rider just quit, it'd be him) Femme hurk-blehs and now it's just Ryuki and the boring one. Well at least Ryuki can tie his shoes now because he's been having a problem with them ever since the very first episode. This is a confusing and mildly frustrating movie. It honestly feels like a fanfiction brought to life. Girl rider who always needs to be saved by the heroes but can still beat up the typically popular character: check. Evil black Ryuki: check. Characters that are multi-layerd and developed getting the shaft in favour of brooding bad boy who's about as layered as cake batter: check. I mean, I'll finish it, but so far I'm not getting the point. It's not improving on the series' end nor is it doing anything new worthwhile what with Femme getting the undeserved shaft. |

Black was never Masked Rider. That was Black RX.
I know it's the same guy, but let's be fair. EDIT: Oh wait, now I see. The movie is explaining the biggest plot hole of the show: why are they fighting. It's so that the winner's life is giving to useless girl. We always knew that the fighting would end in her being saved, but never how. What was the fighting specifically to gain? Why, a suitable sacrifice! Umm... I actually completely forgot about that. No kidding, I totally never realised they utterly Matrix-dodged the entire point of the rider war in the show itself. There was never an adequetly explained reason for the fighting. But seriously, was that worth it? I mean, did anyone really care about the rider war? It was the riders themselves that were the interesting part, not that pointless girl who always looks like she bit the inside of her cheek. Ouja, Zolda, and Femme all get the shaft in favour of what's going to happen to Yui? Who cares? :/ |

Finished Den-O. It was good, but I feel kind of disappointed. A lot went unfinished, but I have yet to watch the movies aside from Ore Tanjou. However, I absolutely loved the final arc going with Yuuto. He and Deneb were the standout characters of the show for me. Definitely the most "fun" Kamen Rider show I've watched, but W and OOO are still my favorites.

Anyway, finished episode final. That was... I don't even know. That was a TERRIBLE send-off to Ryuki. None of the Riders are flattered in any way. Ryuga was a waste of time, Knight is somehow even MORE pointless here than in the show, and it somehow managed to be more of a cop-out ending than the reset at the end of Ryuki. What... what was accomplished here? What was the point? What did we gain? Was it spending time with our beloved characters? Well that's not true, since only Ryuki gets any real exposure, everyone else dies after a few scenes or fades away. Was it showcasing these new and exciting characters? Well no, Femme did nothing (boy, that subplot with Zolda sure amounted to something) and Ryuga was just an evil Ryuki with no... wait, what did he even want again? Whatever. It also didn't really change the outcome. I guess maybe someone wasn't a fan of the reset, but in that case, why make a pointless movie undoing something so it's even less emotional and epic instead of just cutting out the reset? All that's really different is Yui dies (oh no she was such a great character why) and Zolda lives for, what, another day? He's still gonna die. MAYBE Ryuki survives, but I have a feeling that last charge into battle was sort of him accepting his fate. But it's dumb because he flew in fully geared up (hi Survive almost forgot about you) and typical cowboy charge verses his EXTREMELY moving death in the show where he didn't even die in rider form. (guess it's take out tonight again, Dragredder) I just don't get it. What did I watch and why does it exist? It's not even the movie as a movie was terrible, just POINTLESS. I think I may rewatch the last few episodes of Ryuki just to overwrite this movie as my most recent Ryuki memory. |

Deserved what, Split? I really had no idea :lol (Seriously)

Kotaro probably spends less than three minutes out of the suit in every episode and that is normally to goofily smile at the camera while the final wrap up text plays and the show keeps pretending that Golgom are these evil scheming geniuses, but that is pure bollocks. There is nothing wrong with that, the show is VERY fun, but it was just jarring for me because from what I'd experienced of Rider (all Heisei, not Showa) Kamen Rider was very much a soap opera first, and every now ad then a dude transformed and fought a monster, I wasn't expecting the suit action to suddenly become the focus and all the soap opera stuff dropped nearly entirely. |
Sorry Dr Kain I wasn't able to answer your question about Hibiki right away. Anyway Split Lip did answer it the movie never explained anything abiut the Douji and Hime. It did gave a different origin to how Hibiki gained his armed Hibiki form.
Well I've started Kabuto, finished the first 2 eps. Nothing to go on just yet. The worms are quite creepy when they just show up behind you. I found Tendou's introduction quite campy. And I see some similarities with Faiz. The Clock Up is kinda like that upgrade that Faiz got. |

Have you not seen me praise of KRBLack and Blade? How about Tiger & Bunny in the anime discussion? How about my praises for Kyoryuger (except for the terrible Deboss design)? My praises for Wizard? My excitement for my RyuuRanger Figuart being shipped out? How great it is that Funi and Sentai have license rescued many Bandai shows? Anyway, Locke, all the Showa Kamen Rider series are like Black. |

Yeah, the whole concept of Kamen Rider as a serialized show with ongoing character development started with Kuuga. Before that all of the show's were just episodic adventure stories with the occasional two-parter or the very occasional ongoing story arc (I can think of two - Nobuhiko in Black and the scattered weapon blueprints in X).
