Started up a few new shows, but my most anticipated was Symphogear GX and the first episode didn't disappoint at all. Watched it two and a half times already.
Definitely a fun and awesome series to watch, seeing as this is the third season. It's like an insane yet perfect combination of Magical Girl, Kamen Rider and Super Robot elements. The seasons even get better plot and animation-wise with each season. |
One of my leads from work lent me his Soul Eater Not DVD set. Now i will be able to cheek it out see how it is.

And downloading new Symphogear now - so hype! :D |
Oh, Gargantia. You came so close. So, so, so close to being my favorite anime of all time. But then you had to go and pull this bullshit. So, the Hidizous are actually genetically engineered humans, right? And Letto only discovers this after have eradicated every one of them living on earth. Pretty powerful scene, very Gaim-like. Then I got to wondering why they were called Whale-Squid, despite havering no characteristics of a whale whatsoever. Only reason I could think of was that it was a bad attempt at shoehorning an anti-whaling message into the show. And then the show just wouldn't. Stop. Reminding you that they were innocent humans and everyone was horrified that they were dead, even though only Letto knew they were human. It was at that point that I realized that we were delving into the "animals are people too, and humans are horrible monsters for murdering them!" realm of moral lecturing, one I highly despise. Looking at the credits, it appears that Urobuchi was responsible for the last couple of episodes. Now I'm wondering if it'll end with Letto become a Hidizous to save humanity...
TL;DR version: my favorite anime has degraded into a vehicle for my least favorite "moral" of all time, and I'm pissed. EDIT: So, now I've completed the show in it's entirety. Overall thoughts? Surprisingly, the problems I mentioned above were dropped as suddenly as they were brought up, and the show ended just as wonderfully as it started. Gargantia was an excellent example of how to build up a world in a way that doesn't come off as dull or exposition-heavy. Other than that brief arc I mentioned earlier, it was wonderful from start to finish. I think I have a new favorite anime. |

so, I just saw the first episode of Monster Musume's anime, and it was a pretty good first episode. I mean it was a 1:1 scale of the manga with some slight tweaks here and there, but it's still a nice interpretation.
the opening I feel is fantastic. showcases the girls and their personalities pretty well. plus, that spirit bomb heart they did at the end of it was adorable. the ending theme is really cool, showcasing the M.O.N. ladies being badasses and showing off some of their appeal a little bit, including Ms. Smith. I also love the voices so far, and I feel Ms. Smith has the best casting which fits her character to a T. I also like how the ecchi was toned down just a little bit. so, all in all, for "generic ecchi garbage" not bad. |
Well I am dropping death note drama. In first episode I picked out every thing that was changed from character alone in episode so I ant watching no more

Macross Plus episode 1
First of all, fuck hulu, for stuttering out on me and having no subtitle option since the audio was poorly volume leveled out. I haven't seen anything Macross before so sorry if I get lost if I don't know the tropes or why certain things happen. Since Hulu was being a bitch, what I could gather from this first episode is that the main character has a big ego, there's this lady in the red suit managing Charon (a robot that sings or creates music), and this green haired dude piloting the other mech and they all know each other from when they were younger. And something happened to the female or someone she knew. And the blue mech is controlled by thoughts and completely stops working when someone looses some focus. Also, the english dub for this was poorly done. Some characters sound off but the audio mixing sounded off. Even when I turned up the volume on my t.v. the characters still sounded too quiet, at least compared to the music. |
After catching up three weeks worth of anime of summer season. I got back to watch NADIA the secret of blue water and I love it I'm watching disc a week so I can watch it slowly and I love it. Also I just finished soul eater not anime and I enjoyed it.
|
Watched more of Overlord, Gangsta., and Sky Wizards Academy; all very good and interesting anime right now. I love the characters a lot.
|
So I took the brave plunge into the Super Sonico dub. I'm not an expert on voice actors but.. Jessica Nigri doesn't sound so bad as the main character. Despite how the trailer makes her sound, she sounds better when actually watching it. So she has my seal of approval.

> Symphogear GX is on Crunchyroll.
Woo! > No song translations. Kinda expected, but still incredibly disappointing and a major turn off. Still, it'll mean more exposure for the franchise and that's not a bad thing. |
NADIA secret of blue water what can I say. It one of thoes under rated classic that is enjoyable to watch the story was fantastic and fun. From Idea from God anime creator Classic in studio ghibli and brought to life by director of evangelion its anime of love romance history and comedy based round the story 200 000 leagues under the sea. I highly recommend it to any one. Next up is cowboy bebop finally rewatching it now cause last time I watched it was while it was airing late on CNX channel ok Sky

Nadia underrated? It has nothing but high praise other than for that godawful island arc.

Dancouga Nova episode 1:
It was ok. The animation was alright for the time. his episode had quite a few pacing issues, it just crammed so much into one episode, and I barely know anything about these characters so far, as they all got very little screentime. Another thing that bothered me was that when they were all teleported in to pilot Dancouga...none of them really questioned any of it. If I were just going about my business, only to then be knocked out, then to wake up on an island I don't recognize with people I don't know...I'd be pretty freaked out, but no. These guys kinda just accepted the situation initially, and didn't ask questions or raise any eyebrows until they got to the command center. Those are really my only issues with the first episode. Also...I don't know...this whole deal seems too good to be true. You get to pilot a Super Robot, you get paid ten times more than the character who's a race car driver, and despite being brought there against your will, you're allowed to go on about your life as normal, except when you get called to battle. I'm rather suspicious of those guys. I mean, the concept of a Super Robot who always helps the losing side of a battle to prevent large scale wars is an interesting one, but aside from that...it didn't really grip me. At least it's only 12 episodes long, so I think I can get through this pretty quickly. |
