There isn't a good excuse anymore. Cutting Pokemon wholesale for any reason anymore just shouldn't be done. Edit: Oh GREAT! Apparently we shouldn't expect to EVER see every Pokemon in the same game again. Supposed more complete translation of what he said. |
So the corgi pokemon is real so that means that leak I posted is real.

I remember Masuda saying he had some pretty controversial ideas. Considering the outrage is worldwide and Game Freak clearly won't care, I suggest not buying the game

So I guess I'm a bad person because I'm still really excited for Sword/Shield. Even though I've been keeping a Pokemon collection since Emerald and have brought them forward every generation, I always treat the new Gens like a fresh start. It allows me to try out the new Pokemon and also find new interesting team combos.
Am I disapointed that not all Pokemon will be available in S/S? Sure, a little. But think about this. People are forgetting we won't be getting Home and the ability to transfer till sometime next year. Its always possible that they can update the games to fit in more Pokemon by then (and even then, your not going to be able to transfer your collection in right away anyway). But even if they don't, I'm still excited to play the games. Also, no Z moves or Megas are not a big thing for me. So in short, I'm still really excited to play the new Generation, so I guess I'm a bad person or a corporate shill or whatever. |
You know you can like the game and be excited about it without acting like you're being attacked because people have a different opinion than you, right

Don't get me wrong, I want to be excited for this game. I was up until yesterday. I'm still excited to see what else new is in store for the series. I just personally can't see myself actually buying it anymore. I don't have a Switch, but under the right circumstances I was fully prepared to buy one just for Pokemon. Buying entire consoles just as Pokemon machines is something I've done before and something I could fully justify in the past because of how much I actually got out of it, if not just the core gameplay, the freedom to do whatever I wanted once it was done. Limiting the Pokemon in the game pretty much kills the already lacking post-game, it constrains breeding, battling, battle facilities, wonder trade, pretty much everything. I have thousands of hours racked up across my (3)DS games, and I doubt I'd get a fraction of that out of Sword or Shield. For something I'd have to drop almost 400 bucks for, with a decision like this I vehemently disagree with? It's not happening. I imagine the decision is less big for people who already own a Switch, but also no less easy since there are plenty, plenty of other games for the system that look great and aren't regressive in their development. None of which should really be taken as an indictment against people who are still looking forward to it, the ones who bungled this whole thing is Game Freak. And you know, I get it, because there's people who would say there's been an awful decline in Pokemon games for years now, and I still count myself as someone who greatly enjoyed the past couple gens. I like the games, I like the hype, I love the buildup to a new gen every time. There's just a breaking point for everyone, and I guess for a lot of us, it was at not being able to catch them all. |
