HAPPY NEW YEAR from the future!
|
Happy New Year all!
Here's to 2023, and to all the tokusatsu (and other things) we'll have to enjoy in it. Probably. |
Happy new year everyone.
|
At 0243 Local time on 1 January, Year Of Our Godoka 2023, after seven years of starts, stops, stalls, and other reasons, I have finally, FINALLY, finished all of OG Sailor Moon.
I'm done. I'm free. |
Happy New Year everyone, have a good one!

I've read both The Expanse and The Wheel of Time so I'm curious
to see how they both do as TV shows. Expanse has 6 series and The Wheel Of Time will be on their second. Lord Of The Rings had also got one. Final movie of 2022 Star Trek - The Motion Picture With COVID and Monkey Pox I will be watching all movies on DVD. COVID is loose again thanks to China. Not going to the movie theater at all. Picked up the new Top Gun movie yesterday. Also will see the new Ghostbusters. |

It's one of those slow starters but it looks like it could
be decent. |
Well,
HAPPY NEW YEAR! |
Happy New Year all!

Wish everyone the best for (in?) 2023! Happy New Year!

Saw the first two episodes of the Wheel Of Time. It's a pretty
close adaption of the books so far. There have so far been 2 wolf dreams already and in the episodes Morien is teaching Nyneve about the One Power much sooner which happened in part 2. Series II will adapt The Great Hunt with some material from The Dragon Reborn. One book one series could be about right meaning that it could take 12 more series to tell the entire story of The Wheel Of Time. Unlike Game Of Thrones all the story is intact for The Wheel Of Time. |
Happy New Year! (I can't get this gif to work...)
https://media.tenor.com/e3NhqRnPeL8A...y-birthday.mp4 It's time I start working on my Manga! |
Got the 5 Scooby movies pre Scoob!.
Two Scooby - Doo movies are prequels from Cartoon Network and Daphne And Velma is a newer one. After I finish The Wheel Of Time Series I , I may hold on stream feeds for now. After The Wheel Of Time I'll watch Hotel Transylvania 4 next. Getting ready to store James Bond 007 and any movies I have in disk books. I might need one more disk book for any remaining movies in February. Star Trek will get it's own book as there are 13 movies. Also Star Wars after I buy Solo. |
Holy moly. The Filipino tokusatsu series is finally here!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IPzQMAYoPBY Quick history lesson for those not aware, Voltes V is an old-school 1977 robot anime that, along with a bunch of other robot shows, found its way to the Philippines and became extremely popular. However, the series was banned and pulled off air by the government at the time before the final four episodes were aired, with the official reason being concerns from Catholic parents for the show's 'brutal violence'. However, considering how the last four episodes dealt with the Voltes V team travelling to the invaders' homeworld to topple a totalitarian government, people started suspecting that this was the real reason for the ban as Phillippines was under martial law by its own totalitarian government at the time. Banning the show ultimately backfired as it made kids aware of the corruption of the state of the Philippines at the time. After the nonviolent People's Power Revolution in 1986, the last four episodes were compiled into a movie and was hailed as the 'return of Voltes V', cementing the robot's status in Filipino pop culture. Now, GMA (one of the major Filipino television studios) is creating a live-action remake and adaptation of the Voltes V anime as an entire telenovela series, and is one of the most expensive productions to date. It certainly has a B-movie feel to it, but I assure you that its very impressive for a third-country television studio (especially after seeing GMA's other television series in the Philippines, the quality between Voltes V Legacy and the other shows is massive). TL;DR - Phillipines is making a live-action adaptation of an old robot anime that proved so popular in the Philippines that the government banned it, which only made it even more popular. https://m.media-amazon.com/images/M/...yOTk@._V1_.jpg |
Well with COVID about to be let loose again thanks to China back to
staying home and watching movies and TV shows on DVD and never leaving my place in case some idiot actually has COVID. 38 months with no end in sight. Back to staying away from everybody again. We could end up back on restrictions again in the USA. Not how I wanted to start 2023. Not a Happy New Year for me. |

Saw the first 2 episodes of 5 Man today. 01 was a rewatch.
I like this pre MMPR I so far. This one has done a 180 the other way and looks like a good series. I'm getting Jet Man in February and the Shout sets should be caught up for now until they drop either Turbo or Magi on us. I want to hold on Jet Man while I watch the other 46 episodes of 5 Man. |
I'm scare, i have nobody to talk.

My book appeared on Goodreads: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/...mMcF9U4&rank=2

I got on FB and Deka Pink herself was active.
I told her Shout Factory was releasing Deka in February. As for movies I watched Hotel Transylvania 4 yesterday on Amazon. With Transylvania 4 out of the way I can do some major movie catching up. It might take most of 2023 to catch up the movies I missed. These will mainly be on DVD. |

Watching 5 Man and Aba this month.
The Wheel Of Time has now been moved to my I Pad so I'll watch the other 5 this week. With The Wheel Of Time out of the way stream will depend on who's active. I rotate feeds depending on who is running. Netflix and Paramount + are on break for me at the moment as I finish Strange New Worlds Series I on DVD. Andor will now be seen on DVD. |

It'll never happen. Suit actors are far cheaper than animatronic robots, especially because the robots have to punch each other in the face.

???
Not a snowball's chance in heck of that happening. Come on this isn't Robot Wars for pity's sake. The only thing I can see is they start doing CG series out right so they don't have to build any thing. |

Again also not a snowball's chance in heck on that count.
Megazords will be made the same as always. If we get another Toei pick this will make it less likely as the Mega Zord footage will have been made. Netflix is using Kyu Zord footage and bad guy footage for Cosmic Fury so we got a light hybrid of sorts again. Not sure if we'll see any Ranger footage from Kyu. 5 Man and Jet Man are more likely to be adapted for Power Rangers as the DVDs have physical releases. They would need to clear it through Toei to use the footage for Power Rangers. It would also be more likely for the other 13 pre Zyus if we get a DVD release. The footage would have been cleaned up for use. Netflix might at some point do Pre Zyu stuff if they wanted to. |

All animatronics are controlled. Thats not even in question. The fact of the matter is that animatronics are far pricier and unwieldy than hiring a guy in a stunt suit. Animatronics are also very delicate and slow, plus breakdown easily. Toei uses stuntmen in suits bc its cheap and easy to direct the stuntmen. All pr productions have reused the japanese mecha footage. For original footage they either had the mecha suits shipped over and filmed those few scenes or had toei do it. Hasbro has sort of avoided filming original mecha footage entirely bc they've opted to use In-house CG models for their original mecha scenes. That is even cheaper than a stunt man and the models can be reused for other original mecha footage. I dont see the stunt men being replaced or hasbro dropping the cg anytime soon. These shows are meant to be filmed on the cheap and animatronic mecha are faaaar too problematic to replace the current production methods.

Hence the reason to just use megazord footage already made. Most ground fights are US made.
Here's what I've worked out Adapt Zord footage and make their own morphed footage fight footage. So Hasbro is building the Kyu footage around US morphed outfits for ground fights. That happened with MMPR II and III. They retained the Zyu outfitsand built Dai and Kaku around it. That's why Zyu felt out of place. X Men With Apocalypse in resuming with X 2 - X Men United. Missed a few after Origins - Wolverine. Most during the First Class era. |
I totally agree with you on that. Also i believe any scenes where they show the cosmic fury rangers in the same scene as the megazord, like looking at it from the outside, the megazord will be cg. They did that for dino fury too for any original scenes where they had the rangers looking at the megazord. The ground footage was theirs and the robot was cg. So i dont see that changing for cosmic fury.
