I really like Gigantamax Corviknight, but it's a real shame they went for that weird aesthetic choice of a way too heavy red aura and those dumb clouds. I'd enjoy these forms a lot more without them.
Either way, while I have heavy reservations about the execution - and that they're obviously too scared of retcons - I like that this is a more intelligent way of doing Megas and Z-Moves while also streamlining the two concepts. It potentially removes the power creep by combining them into one, and also addresses an issue with Megas -- everyone gets it. Obviously only a select few still are the only ones to get new actual forms and such, but even if you're not one of that group; you can still get a power boost from it so you're not really left in the dust. In comparison to the presentation of Megas, it's also cool that while there will be a Gen 1 focus later on as with everything; they're not afraid of applying it to the new guys right away and showing that front and center -- compare this to how it took us an age to get a single Mega each for Unova and Kalos. I have... problems still, many problems; especially when you look at some of the details on the website... but I can at least appreciate a lot of this stuff on paper. Also that new rock-type is a Motobug from Sonic, if it using Tackle doesn't result in your Pokémon exploding with rings, I'll be disappointed |
Oh sweet, Fighter girl has 193 on her shorts.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OPgq4cCthaE I may end up picking Sword. Just need more info on exclusive critters. |
As much as I'm disappointed that there isn't going to be a National Pokedex in this game I'm not massively bummed out about it as I stopped transferring my Pokemon between games from Gen 4 onwards so that I actually could have strong Pokemon teams. My goals became to increase them all to Level 100 instead.
The #BringBackNationalDex movement however is not one I am willing to participate in because of what I feel that it represents. People are hijacking absolutely everything that the Pokemon Company and Masuda do in order to push their agenda and the worst part is that movements like the Sonic movie redesign and the Mario Maker 2 friend update are only adding fuel to the fire that continually protesting until you get exactly what you want is exactly the way to go. https://twitter.com/Gigglegloom/stat...88556106121217 I mean, it gets to the point where someone can make a bingo of it: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/D_TPjH3XUAA--Vq.jpg Pokemon-wise I find myself playing the card game again having obtained a modern physical deck and signed up to playing online, though this came about through playing Yu-Gi-Oh again and finding it a bit too complicated with all the new rules that they introduced. It does make me wonder though, the card game works on rotations, theoretically that means there will be Pokemon featuring in the card game that won't be part of the Galar Pokedex by the time the new games come around, which looks especially bad from a marketing perspective when you're pushing Pokemon for a side game (admittedly still one of the biggest in it's market) when most of your fans care about the main video game itself. Also, Dynamaxed Pokemon cards might stand out in the deck a bit too much... |
I feel most of us have moved on, hoping it'll be back in the next game, and are more than a little disgusted by a loud minority constantly harassing and shouting down Game Freak employees and other people. I've also seen a very frustrating attitude from people who are extreme the other way, but they at least don't resort to harassment as stated.
Still, I think we should more or less look away from the controversy; admit both sides are in the wrong here in regards to the loud minorities and move on. It's frustrating seeing it dominating discussion so much and to see each side shout the other down without even bothering to understand the other side; whether it's realistic arguments about game freak or understanding that some people would naturally feel down about it when they were otherwise looking forward to a game. I don't think the game looks very good and I'm not going to get it - at least not for a while - so I'm just gonna sit back and enjoy the new creatures and hope for a Let's Go Johto or something. I'm also at least finding it interesting tracking down new returning creatures found in each new trailer. For instance, a new Japanese trailer today that otherwise showed nothing of note did reveal to us that Lapras, Mawile, Ferroseed/Ferrothorn and Mareanie/Toxapex are in SwSh. So it's kinda fun looking at this little checklist, even if I could have if dexit wasn't a thing. |
I’m still not giving up on #BringBackNationalDex/Mega Evolution/Z-Moves.
After all the time spent since Gen IV getting every Pokémon Shiny, even maxing out the game clocks in all my games since X Version, only for Pokémon to drop these bombshells like that. Completely disrespectful to hardcore trainers like myself. |

They actually expanded on a mechanic... Call me surprised

Still no deal because #BringBackNationalDex/#BringBackMegaEvolutions/#BringBackZMoves

New Galarian Zigzagon and Linoone - pretty cool, always had a soft spot for my badger boys, so the get a UK version is neat. The evolution, I like a lot more in concept than in actual design, but I'll take it if it means Oblagoon can stick with me to the Elite 4 this time.
Galarian Weezing - 10/10, what a unit. The mouse thing... is just a slimmer Pikachu. It even has the red cheek things. The form switching doesn't interest me, especially with a name like "Hangry Mode". All the other stuff will probably benefit better from being played through than just glimpsed in a trailer, but it looks nice, especially the fully done character models. Quote:
