I don't really see any trouble with Dekaranger's villains. It's a cop show; they fight various different criminals who all have their own agendas. I thought it was a nice change from having a central villain with an army of lackeys (I just wish the monster designs sucked less - only part of Dekaranger I didn't love). |

Why Dekaranger sucks: 1) There's no plot, no subplot, no reason to care what happens next. It took the villain finally going "hey, I'm the villain" for the Dekarangers to even realize there was a villain. And this was 30 episodes in! This could've worked if they had a subplot of the Dekarangers knowing there's a villain, but don't have a face or name. I mean they're detectives! Of course that would require competent heroes, which brings me to my next point... 2) Incompetent characters. This might've been okay if these characters were untrained or forced into their roles, but these guys are trained and supposedly experienced. However, they are incompetent, at least the rangers they focus on the most. Especially Pink. Who the fuck hired this dumbass? She has no business being police officer much less a super powered space police officer. |

I felt there was a lot of potential Deka missed out on. BTW, SPD was inferior because of 70s reject Disco Skeletor. Quote:

Finished watching episodes 10 and 11 Kakuranger. I am seriously enjoying the team's dynamic in the series so far. Until more english subbed episodes come in, I'm making a go-ahead and watch Carranger since I couldn't find any episode of Ohranger that are english subbed anywhere.

There's a reason the "judge, jury and executioner" concept is usually used for darker, hardcore series such as Judge Dredd. It feels too contrived in a Super Sentai series, much less one that is as lighthearted as Dekaranger. I can't believe that some intergalactic high court can make such split-second judgments that we are to believe are infallible. It just stretches the limits of believability and paints the Dekarangers in a bad light (as I said, in a Judge Dredd sort of way). |
