Oh yes. Thunderbolt has been excellent so I'd love to see Blue Destiny given the love it deserves. I wish more side stories like it could be focused on for animation. Off the top of my head I'd love to see:

You know what would be an interesting concept for a series? A sort of Man in the High Castle alternate history take on the One Year War where Zeon wins. I think it would be really cool to see how Zeon technology progresses with the funding of something the size of the federation. And how the Zabis would rule over Earth after the whole fiasco.

Just going to say it, I definitely prefer JYB over Orga's Japanese actor.

Hey can I ask for some advice on how to shave down nubs with files or sanding sticks without scarring the plastic? Because curently I have trouble with that

If you're talking about deep gouges in the plastic then the best advice I could give you is when you use a file always do your best to keep it straight and level with the part, gouges usually come from the edge of the tool. My process goes as follows, file down to the surface of the part, then start with 800 grit sand paper and work my way up to 2000 then I use a small piece of an old shirt to buff the part.

So Rightstuf already started shipping out Gundam X Volume 2. No ZZ V2 yet.

I look forward to IBO on Toonami since I did saw the first two episodes subbed and it was good. I also haven't watch a Gundam show on TV since 00. I hope it does well to make people more interested in the franchise again in the US.

I'd have to say I think Thunderbolt is perfect for a movie. Its already movie length, the backstory of fhe one year war could easily be expanded upon to introduce audiences to UC, it doesn't have Newtypes to alienate people and it has awesome action sequences.

But a 00 movie trilogy or quadrilogy would be my second choice.

It depends. If Japan makes a Gundam live action movie, it could work. If America does it, it may have a bigger size budget but I can see causals bitching about how they didn't adapt Gundam Wing instead.

Cause live action anime adaptations are rarely any good

With proper directing and writing it could work. We can make good live action comic book movies. Not to mention most of the bad live action movies of anime and manga are from the west. Japan and Korea has done good live action adaptions better before.

If Japan makes a Japanese live action movie, I do feel like people won't take seriously unless it has good size budget. People will be like "The Gundams look like people in bad suits like the Super Sentai robots!".

I always had this idea if we were going to get a high budget Gundam movie, they'd be able to scan in the 1:1 Gundam statue in Japan as a CG model and make all the mobile suits look in that style.

But I don't get the idea Hollywood could never make a good live action anime movie. Is it just that the people involved don't understand the source material? Is there something inherent in the anime medium that does not transfer to live action well? Because I can't think of anything in the typical Gundam show that couldn't be done in live action with CG.

Japan made Devilman,Cutey Honey,Casharn and AOT so no Japan's adaptions tend to suck too.

I know that. Most people don't know that those films even existed. People think of movies like Dragon Ball Evolution when news for a live action movie based on anime or manga is being made.

The US could make a good live action movie based on a anime/manga. It took until 1998 to make a good Marvel movie since Captain America (1990), Howard the Duck, Fantastic Four 4 (1994) and Punisher (1989) did suck big time.

With a American Gundam live action movie from Hollywood, we would need a good writer, director and casting to pull it off. Also they would need to show people that Gundam is not another Transformers or Power Rangers type of movie. Casual non geeky people think of Transformers when it comes to giant robots.

Well how hard could it be to find good people in Hollywood? Although Gundam is sci-fi with a complex story, so I'm sure people who specialize in those are a bit harder to find.

But yeah, messaging would be the big thing. They'd defintley would have to distance themselves from PR and Transfromers, and showcase the Gundam very much as warmachines.

It all comes down to money.
If they're afraid a property might fail (And since it'd be an adaptation of a work from another country, they certainly will), they'll do their best to try and make it succeed. They'll change what they think an American audience will like more ("Let's make Goku a high schooler instead of a wild child in the middle of the desert!"), they'll add, remove, or alter characters to make it more homogeneous to other popular films in the same genre, and they won't give it the budget it needs to depict what the anime, manga, or game does on a regular basis.
Suits will be redesigned (Or excluded altogether), the setting will become more American out of desperation, and ultimately, all they do is hope for a major flop to get a tax write off.

I'm still peeved that Adam Sandler's Grown Ups 2 beat out Pacific Rim in the United States the first week it came out.

Japan tends to do the same thing on it's own.

I honestly can't comment as I don't watch Japanese adaptations of other works.
Not to say I don't watch Japanese films, but I just...Never really cared about the live action movies they do of anime :lol

But what's specifically Japanese about Gundam? That's what I don't understand. There'd be very little complaints about casting because the characters, both racially and nationally, match more of an American demographic. And the setting, they go all around the world, which other American films have done, and that doesn't alienate audiences. The military outfits are kind of tacky as they were designed in the 70's, but I am sure a modern update won't make them look too bad.

They can still easily cut out characters, dumb down the story, or horribly redesign the suits. But with Bandai breathing down any movie studio's necks, I'm sure the mobile suit designs will be as close as possible while still having that "Hollywood" look.

Because and I'll be blunt here Westerners don't give a shit about Gundam or most Japanese anime.

the only people who will are the fans and they'll hate the movie the instant they even hint at changing something.

And when Hollywood's homogenized it to the point where it'll even have a shot at catching the casual audience it'll be rightly seen as a generic cash in attempt on the Transformers craze.

It's a no-win situation


And haha at implying Bandai would care Hasbro sure as hell didn't.

I'd rather there not be one, but if they did, I'd like it to be on the Battle of Odessa. Such a huge event that seems to be barely ever utilized.
