Aw man, after so much build up I really hope this is true. I'm sure the Radio Times wouldn't be reporting something like this unless there was something concrete behind it.
|
Unrelated news, The Doctor's Wife was on earlier, and the TvTropes page on that very episode has a link to this:
http://neil-gaiman.tumblr.com/post/3...know-about-the It's pretty awesome |
Did I miss something somewhere? Apparently it was (unofficially) found out earlier this year (according to reports) that Marco Polo had been received and was being restored by someone (possibly not the BBC)? Cripes, I'd like to see that one. The set pictures are gorgeous.

The source we'd all been waiting for guys :D :D :D
BBC News - BBC to reveal a number of missing Doctor Who episodes |

If they did sit on it for that long, I commend everyone involved's ability to keep a secret.
Not believing the rumours that 106 episodes have been found for a second though, especially since some have pointed out that it's technically impossible. Whatever we get out of this its worthy of massive celebration though :D *crosses fingers for Celestial Toymaker, Power/Evil of the Daleks, Highlanders, Moonbase, Abominable Snowman, Web of Fear or Wheel in Space eps* Quote:

Apparently there are some issues with episode 3 being returned to the BBC. I haven't seen specifics on that. Worrisome for me is that insiders are reporting that Marco Polo, once apparently a sure lock for return and release, is now in jeopardy of disappearing into the ether again for some reason. I would find that utterly heartbreaking to be so close. To be honest, I'm really quite interested in what shows other than Doctor Who that were believed lost forever have now been found. |
Yeah, I'd seen those were the two titles being passed around the most. Perfectly fine with me - Web of Fear is one of the ones I'd like to see the most and Enemy of the World sounds like it would be a great watch.
Just a shame Nicholas Courtney wasn't still around to see his character's first story recovered :( |

Why hello there, more details about the announcement!

I'm so very, very excited. :D |
Sweet, with those two in attendance it almost seems a given its Web of Fear and Enemy of the World then :D
|
Apparently the time of the thing was a red herring. The press event is apparently happening right now! Too bad the BBC placed an embargo on reporting about it until midnight. Lots of folks saying the iTunes links will go live at midnight, at least for the UK.
|
So...Web of Fear (minus episode 3) and Enemy of the World are indeed found.
Best news ever. |
I know it sounds totally corny, but something about watching these episodes, thought lost forever, with my favorite Doctor is really quite a powerful moment. Troughton is such a delightful imp! :D
There is a clip from The Enemy of the World up on the BBC's YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nStE5...layer_embedded I'm not going to deny the chills watching this, too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GPm6zcy_6j0#t=127 |
Steven Moffat drops some new hints about the identity of Hurt's Doctor...

But you are right. It is amazing. It has Roger Delgado in it! and Paul McGann! AND LIZ SLADEN! |
I could watch that for hours simply trying to grab all of the references.

That, I think, is the single best trailer they've ever made for the Doctor. Absolutely loved it.
|
I just love how much effort they put into the trailer. Talk about so much work and spoiling absolutely nothing! That really is a piece of art by itself!

Also, I just wanted to share a WMG I read on tvtropes a few days ago. The Doctor was spilt up into echoes in the Name of the Doctor • And as a result, people identical to his various incarnations were split up across his timeline (Salamander, Maxil, Caecillius.) Within the Day of the Doctor, people identical to some of the other incarnations will appear. And John Hurt will be an echo of John Hurt's incarnation (because he was referenced as an actor in the show (Torchwood)previously.) It makes a strange amount of sense. Kinda. |
That bit in Remembrance is awesome :lol
|
The Light at the End is out ahead of schedule. Time to get my classic Doctors on.

Alright I just spend $50 on two tickets to watch Doctor Who in the cinema. Crazy, but well it was sold out everywhere.
|
I would be going to see if in the cinema if I was around too. Hopefully the BBC have something good planned for con-goers, although I'm not sure as it supposedly ends at 5pm...
|
I'm still waiting for Fandango to update the Day of the Doctor listing with some locations/times. I definitely want to see this on the big screen.
It appears that we Who fans in the US have killed the Fathom Events site as tickets were supposed to go on sale at 9. I doubt the Met Gala crowd punishes their servers like this, and I say that as a general fan of opera. |

And my lips are sealed on spoilers, not that I've listened to it myself yet anyway :lol |
So last night the Doctor's Revisited aired with David Tennant and I am under-whelmed. They never even mentioned Army of Ghosts, or Turn Left, or the finale that followed. Despite airing that two-parter straight after. They never even once mentioned The End of Time or The Master, except when they talked about Martha Jones and her journey across the world spreading the Doctor's message. Not one damn mentioned of the Ood, despite how large an impact they had over his time as the Tenth. And they never once mentioned the late, great, Elisabeth Sladin (Sara Jane) and that excellent reunion episode they did together. And never once, in any of their specials, touched on her death at all which is a crime in itself.
Very disappointed. |
