I didn't notice he was the Captain in X, and I didn't notice that Red Falcon from Liveman is the Captain in Cosmos lol. |
I think helps that he also seems to have bulked up a bit. Like, he doesn't seem as lanky as he was in OOO.
|
X 16 was such a silly episode, it was great. An episode of COPS set in the Ultraman universe is a fantastic idea. X being interrupted mid-SHUWATCH for an interview made me laugh.

UltraMan X Episode 17: This was such an adorable episode with Pigmon. It was just so great with Pigmon befriending the girl. I also liked that it furthered with Daichi's dream of co-existence with monsters because they were just hating on a harmless monster that I'm glad changed their minds. This was a very cute episode, I can't wait for more.

Been watching more Leo.an this show doesn't like to pull any punches. I didn't realize really that the kids from the third and fourth episodes would necessary recurring characters bit it's nice that Leo's acting as a sort of big brother for them.
But man...Seven is a douchebag. There's tough drill sergeants and then there's this guy. Who trains someone by ATTEMPTING TO RUN THEM OVER WITH A CAR?! Quote:

I saw a clip from an Ultra series that had two monsters fighting, and one of them cuts the other in half right down the middle. It was really violent for something generally seen as a kids show. Any idea which series it was?

For everyone not liking Ultraseven's personality in Leo, just keep watching. It gets better.

Well in one of the last Leo eps I watched, Dan wasn't too bad. Episode 8 where Gen ejected from his jet to save goofy comic relief guy. It was the rest of the MAC teams being dicks to him, Dan was kinda harsh but fair in this one.
Also I never stated this before but I like how Leo just uses martial arts moves to beat up the monsters for the most part. I mean this is mostly cause Gen is a karate nut but still it's cool to see. Also the ridiculous training sequences are awesome. They're in every episode but they never get old due to how increasingly specific they get to the monster Leo's fighting. How does Dan have all that time to set those up anyway? Episode 9....man that monster's creepy. Dan berates him a bit in this one and to be fair Gen is a little impulsive sometimes...okay, most times but sometimes it seems like acting before thinking might be better when facing giant creepy monsters that kidnap and mesmerize kids. Also....this episode has some bizarre morals at the end lol. |
I've been catching up on X since I have some time off for the holiday; the Ginga team-up was really fun.

I'm catching up on X, I just finished episode 12 tonight. This is such a great series. I know it won't happen, but I'd love to see it continue past 22 episodes, or get a second series. It's a shame to stop it now.

UltraMan X Episode 18: I felt so bad for Wataru, with Hayato starting to date his childhood friend that he has feelings for. I am actually kind of shocked they did a storyline like this in a kid's show because that's a very good lesson to teach because I've had to deal with this issue and anything with love is painful and they showed good ways to deal with it. Especially with crying and trying to move past your feelings and don't let love lead you astray I thought that was a brilliant message. Also I loved Hayato singing the theme song at the end I love when they do that just like in UltraMan Ginga S when they used the theme song as a regular song lol. It was also great to see part of UltraMan X's history that he saved Mu a long time ago and forgot about it. Nice to see more of X's history before hand. Overall a fantastic character episode for the side characters and I can't wait for more.
Also I agree I hope that UltraMan X gets a sequel series since I think they aren't going to keep it going. |

I had high hopes for this episode when I saw Space Cats in the preview, fortunately it lived up to expectations. It was hilarious.

Also, I wonder how much of a factor streaming via Crunchyroll will be. I think a second series with these characters is a definite possibility, given how much positive things I've read online. Hopefully numbers will back this up and work in favour of more of this. |

Last time I check, Ultraman normally makes much less then Kamen Rider and Sentai does with toy sales. Both series air on different days on the week on different time slots.

I saw scans of UltraMan X getting an upgrade to his Exceed X form it looks fantastic:

Ultraman Nexus is coming to Crunchyroll! Tsubaraya uploaded a subbed version of episode 1 on Youtube and the announcement's in the description.

Awesome! That'll be better than TV-Nihon.
|
are there any others or is it just Nexus?
|
As far as I know, just Nexus so far.
|
Right now it's just Nexus, but then they announced Max they waited a bit before revealing Mebius, Leo and 80 were also going to be on crunchyroll.
|
That's cool I hope they announce more. I loved Nexus a lot.

Anyway, yesssssssss! Nexus owns. |
UltraMan X Episode 19: At first I wasn't sure what to think of M1 but after a quick search, learning that he's from Ultra Q makes his appearance more acceptable to me. I mean I didn't really understand why he did that to UltraMan X because Daichi and the others are all about Coexistence and taking X away only caused more damage because he wanted to be introspective and philosophical. Anyways moving past the part that bugged me, this was a heartbreaking episode to see Gomora turned against everyone by the Dark Thunder Energy. Though I loved Asuna protecting Gomora from being destroyed by the XiO team and that she was trying to get through to it. I thought Gomora was adorable when they brought him back successfully and he was playing with Daichi and Asuna that was fun. Well I can't wait for Nexus next week that should be really fun.

UltraMan X Episode 20: That was a fantastic way to use Nexus. I love that they used Lt. Tachibana to receive his powers because that was a great way to showcase him and tell a great story with her too. Also it helped Daichi to realize that even though they aren't close by he still has a strong bond to his parents too. This episode was very Nexus-y to me in the beginning with using the XiO team like the team in Nexus. I thought this was a great homage episode to Nexus without using anyone from Nexus (I would have loved to have seen Komon return.) I also loved seeing the MetaField return and the fighting in the pocket dimension. Such a fun episode that I could go on and on about lol. I can't wait for more, though it looks like that X might be ending next week with the episode title of A Beautiful End, I can't see there being another episode afterwards though. Still if it is the last episode I am still looking forward to it because this series has been fantastic.
EDIT: I am now seeing that Komon or the actor who played Komon looks like he was Tachibana's husband, which makes this even better. I'm glad to see that Komon came back, he was one of my favorites from UltraMan Nexus. |
I'm waiting until this weekend to watch it since I subscribe to Tsuburaya's YouTube account.
|
Ultraman Nexus rules, and so did this episode of X. I'm glad they didn't spoil everything before the episode aired because some really surprising things happened. It was basically an episode of Nexus with the X cast in it. So good.

Holy crap, the Ultraman X movie looks amazing! |
Be better if Gaia, Cosmos & Mebius were also in it. But I guess the Ultras in Rena's life are okay.
|
Ultraman X 21: Oh shiiiiiit that's quite a cliffhanger to leave us on. Greeza is such a delightfully creepy thing. The way he moves and the sounds he makes, just... man.
One episode left. :( |
Just watched episode 20 and oh, man was that good. Nexus was the first Ultraman show I watched all the way through and really the one that got me into this franchise (even if I think it's got a lot of flaws and that most of the other Ultra shows I've seen are objectively better). I didn't realize just how much nostalgia I had for it, though, because I was actively cheering multiple times throughout this episode. I really love this idea that Nexus is a wandering Ultraman who shows up, lends his powers out for a day or two, and then departs.
And yes, the subtle Komon cameo was delightful. |
