Mother of Ultra's finally arrived!

She feels a little more fulfilling than Jonias, despite an accessory count that isn't dramatically different from him. The hair/pigtail pieces on her head are apparently separate pieces of plastic that slot into her head, so thankfully they may not be as fragile if it was all one piece of plastic...however, the left pigtail piece popped off in-transit and though it can peg back in securely, it can get knocked out again a bit too easily.

The piece that can plug into her back for the Tamashii stand is gray, rather than red, which I found odd since (going off of memory here) the other Ultras I have come with red pieces. Not a horrible thing by any means, but a nitpick I have.

It may be just me, but it looks like the red on her stomach is a slight shade darker than the red on the rest of her body.

Another nitpick - If they don't want to do window boxes for Tamashii exclusives, that's fine, but I wish they'd kept the box a metallic silver like the other Showa Ultras.

All in all, she feels like Ace in that she's a more dynamic release than I was expecting her to be.

Very nice. I probably should have ordered her but I was too focused on acquiring Ultra Seven at the time.

Dark Zagi!

He immediately vaults up there with Nexus Junis as one of the prettiest Ultra-Acts I own. The matte black plastic looks great, and the clear red plastic eyes up the demonic look quite nicely. Minor nitpick; the red paint on the feet is a bit lighter than the red used on the rest of the body. No problems with posability, the shoulder pieces on the upper arms are actually on a swivel, but posability remains the same as the average Ultra-Act.

He comes with two effects parts; I should've put Lightning Zagi effect part on his left arm, but since his hands are all black it appears sort of interchangeable, if you so choose. The impact part comes with its own stand of sorts; it's not a full on Tamashii Stage stand, but it does the job well enough.

The box also deviates from some of the other recent Tamashii Web Ultra-Acts (Jonias, Mother) with the dark background shown in the pics, which is a nice touch. Random aside, but I kind of wish they'd maintained the original Ultra-Act package design for the villain/kaiju characters. That design fit the villain characters better than the Ultramen, to me, and I can't help but wonder how Dark Zagi would've looked in that packaging design.

Great pics of the Showa team and Zagi! I just started collecting these and I love them! So far I have Ultra Seven, Ultimate Zero, Mother of Ultra and Ultraman Ace. Besides more Kaiju (Zetton!) I'd love to see human characters like Dan Moroboshi, Hayata, Mirai and Asuka. Maybe SDCC exclusives to test the waters? I just noticed there is no Ultraman 80. He would complete the Showa team, right?

Ok, I will give it a shot tomorrow.

Nice! The blue on the packaging is a nice touch. He comes with more accessories than I realized. I just paid for mine from AmiAmi this morning.

Damn I can't wait for my Zero to show up. So glad he got the renewal treatment. I know other figures needed it too, but he needed it pretty badly. I hope the eventual Ultimate Zero Renewal is as good.

Quick question. Will the Ultra-Act Ultraman Leo Renewal version be available through BBTS. I remember reading I believe on Henshin Justice Unlimited that BBTS was getting him in stock. Also what is the current status of the Showa era Ultraman? Can Bluefin now sell the showa era Ultraman. Again I seem to remember reading this somewhere. Any help would be much appreciated.

Gah! It's like releasing every member of a Sentai team except for the red guy. Regular Anphans Nexus is my favourite Ultraman design. :o

Bluefin can release the contested Showa Ultras now, they started with the most recent Ultra Father reissue and are sure to get in the upcoming Taro reissue. Leo was never actually a figure that couldn't be released - Bluefin released the original Leo and Alien Magma - and more importantly, BBTS can get anything in. The only difference is that the figures they have to import and aren't supplied by Bluefin cost way more.

Of course I would! Just like Shin they are grotesque, out of the ordinary, and awesome :lol
