Wow, the core concept for that suit is identical to Mashin Chaser: a Rider who's been in a car wreck. I don't think I really noticed how much Rider has been recycling ideas until the last few years.

I just realized that every Rider main series since Ex-Aid has had a series tagline, but Gotchard doesn't. If Gotchard were to have a series tagline, what would it be?

Just got done watching the press conference and my overall first impressions is that it looks... okay. Of course I'll reserve proper judgement until I actually watch the show in a few weeks, but based on the first impression seen here it doesn't look too terribly interesting (I'm more excited for the toyline more than anything).

lead actor feels a bit bland and generic as a hero to me. There is nothing that stands out about him. his appearance or personality. I hope he will grow on me.

That being said the show looks cool and light hearted a bit. Looks like a mix of Fourze for the teens at school and friendship, Build for the science and "best match", a spoon of Wizard with people wearing cloaks and rings.

EDIT : one of the 3 dark sisters being named Kuroto made me giggle.

I'm definitely interested. We haven't had a rival Rider-alike since Night Rogue, and those tend to be great characters. The trio of villainesses is a unique aspect too. Silly nice boy main character seems a bit bland after a guy like Ace, but that ultimately depends on how the actor pulls it off

Also another thing, after seeing the large supporting cast I'm begging on my hands and knees that they don't become Riders (or at least hope that the vast majority don't become Riders). It'd be nice to have a likeable supporting cast that's also useful without the need for them to transform. Also while I do like a large cast of Riders from time to time, It'd be nice to have a smaller cast of Riders this time around, maybe 4-5 tops (especially since every Reiwa show so far has had a ton, a smaller amount would be a nice change of pace).

Y'know what? Given that the trailer only shows Gotchard's mom as a family member, I would safely assume that maybe later, as a plot twist, Gotchard's father is somewhere working behind the scenes regarding the Ride Chemy Cards and everything to do with Gotchard.

Yeah, I felt the same tbh. I feel like someone (probably at Toei) is trying to cash in on the "isekai" style of shows + the Japan-can't-get-enough-ever-for-all-eternity theme of school kids... I like the main Rider's design ok--still think the chrome looks cheap and that metallic Turquoise would've been fine--but other than that, not really planning on getting anything from this show.

The impression I got from the trailer was Fourze with a pinch of Revice and AR Faiz from Decade. That said, not impressed with Hotaro but not disappointed either. I do wonder if Spana/Valvarad will go the way of Chaser from Drive or if he will be Kamen Rider's answer to Jugglus Juggler. Hope it's both. :lolol

Haven't really been wowed beyond the suit designs but it's interesting having a seemingly more low key season for the first time in a while, school setting was very fun in Fourze, one of the greatest we've had and I'm surprised at how a massive chunk of the cast we've seen are women, including the girls of fate in this gothy outfits, wonder if they're not really evil but rather morally ambiguous cause they're, y'know, the sisters of fate

I think the choice for the MC goes well with the basic premise "totally regular student stumbles upon something that changes his life forever". Execution and character development will be much more important.

Personally, I like Houtarou so far. He just wants to find something he's really good at, like a lot of high school students, so he decides to become an alchemist and Kamen Rider. I have to respect this dude's ambition.

Speaking of names, I'd like to clear up Paladin's mistake. Icho Renge is portrayed by Abe Oto, not the other way around.

I know but considering one of the most used (and shoved everywhere) Kamen Rider character of the last decade being Kuroto Dan you know, I found it funny.

Also if I wanted to go further (way too far actually) I could say Clotho is supposed to be the moirai who creates the thread of life for people (her 2 sisters are the ones measuring the thread and cutting the thread) and Dan Kuroto is kinda a creator of life himself ?

The Pokemon angle seems like it will be a lot of wholesome fun. Nothing dark can possibly happen from a series with cute battling creatures right? right....

If anyone here didn't know, the idea behind Pokemon was actually inspired in part from the original Ultraseven series, where the lead character Dan Moroboshi used monsters kept in capsules, Capsule Kaiju, Pocket Monsters.

I have to agree that this one isn't really grabbing me. Seems like a lighter show, which is sort of nice since we haven't had that style of Rider in a while, but beyond that it does feel quite generic. Still, I love being surprised so hopefully I'll be hearing glowing comments on the series from fans.

Like this isn't super sentai leave the overly light hearted stuff to that

Kamen rider tends to edge towards the more teens/late teens

So I hope it kinda does something unexpected that hooks me in

I have no doubt the show won't stay as light hearted as we can see now.

Even just for the fact Alchemy is sometimes seen as a discipline/art where humans play God, trying to create life, purify souls, doing human sacrifices and all. It can turn dark pretty fast.

At first I was worried about the action being inside the school too much, like Fourze was (even though that was a cool show), but it seems like the protagonist is moving to that specific Alchemy School, and we could have some kind of "Harry Potter" situation here, the normal guy suddenly being placed in a magical/mystical place and you never know what could happen in such a setting.
Things could go pretty dark with a teacher willing to sacrifice students for research etc etc...
