If you didn't see it, Rightstuff announced the following at their panel at AX:
G-Reco on BD next year 0080 on DVD only at the end of this year 0083 and Afterglow of Zeon for DVD and BD early next year F91 for DVD and BD next year Also, Viz licensed the Thunderbolt manga. My thoughts? Will buy 0083 for sure on BD, just the series, not the compilation movie. Like Turn A, I won't be touching 0080 until it gets a BD release. May get F91, but since that isn't coming out until next year, does this mean Victory is not until next year either? Unless G-Reco has a new English dub, most likely won't be touching that one either. |
So they didn't announce G Gundam on Blu-Ray for next year?

But I wonder why Viz got the license and not Vertical? Was Vertical just on the Origin and any new plans of bringing manga was way too much for their resources? |
0080...by the end of the year? Be the end of the year already!

That's cool. I personally could not live without BD. Everything looks superior, but more importantly, the audio is far crisper and the discs are made of a much thicker material. Not to mention it cuts down on the disc count. Oh, and black and white movies look so damn good. Nevertheless, it makes sense why you are excited for it to come out at the end of the year. I will continue to wait for a BD release like I am with Turn A. I just can't support an inferior format when a superior version exists. Anyway, I spent the evening watching the first two discs to SEED. The show starts off a little slow but it begins to improve after Lacus Clyne shows up. In fact, she is my favorite character of the show thus far. I just love how she is so open to everyone's feelings, even the little psycho selfish ****bag who is just one white robe short Flay. God I hate that little bitch!!! The Gundams are kind of cool even though most of them haven't done much so far, but the series really is just a remake of the original show up to this point. Kira also seems to shed tears a lot even when there is no reason to. Athrun is pretty cool though and La Cruset is a really good Char clone. Ramius is just Bright 2.0, but she is a likable character while I'm not sure what to thing about Badger. She seems to have a wodden paddle stuck up her ass. Mu La Flaga is cool to. The animation is a vast improvement over the series from the 90s and the soundtrack rocks, especially the opening and ending songs. On the other hand, do they really need to have a flashback scene in every episode? |

I'll concede that from a pure technical standpoint there's no denying that Blu Rays are superior. But in terms of function I honestly couldn't tell a difference between my Spiderman 3 BD and one of my DVDs running on the same machine when it came to picture or audio quality. And looking at comparisons on the net most of them looked identical save for 2 one where the Blu-Ray version looked better....and one where the DVD version looked better. |

Just to bring this topic back on track, the new TRY OVA is going to be starting in August:

So I'm building the Full Armor Gundam from Thunderbolt and I've been noticing something. No matter how perfectly I try to readjust the legs, from some angle, one always look slightly longer then another and the legs aren't even. Am I just bad at gunpla or am I obsessing over nothing?

Today I got a box that had a box in it that had another box in it that had a slip case with a case in it. :-p

Hey can someone please tell how you'd apply the Waff's eye because it looks like it's either on a water slide or rub on, and I really don't know how to do those.

Gundam Thunderbolt - Damn. DAMN!!! That was dark, really dark. It is probably by far the darkest Gundam series ever made and that is part of what made it so good. Who is the bigger villain? The Zeons for using crippled soldiers or the Federation for using children? It doesn't matter because both sides are messed up and this movie does a fantastic job of showcasing the true horrors of war. It was very unique and original in its approach of showcasing another battle during the One Year War, which also means you don't need a ton of background on what is going on because you already know what is happening. The Gundam pilot is flat out an asshole while the main Zeon soldier is easily the most likable character in the movie because they do so much to develop him through visuals instead of dialog, which is a nice change of pace. Another thing I liked is it shows how much a long standing war can break people apart as you really feel like they have been doing this for way too long. The animation is down right gorgeous and is some of the best animation in the franchise. Surprisingly, even the audio depite only being in 2.1 stereo, was better than a lot of 5.1 audio tracks. Not to mention the music is very effective and done with great finess.
My only complaint towards the BD is the didn't subtitle the god damned bonus disc documentary, making it unwatchable. That is total bullshit for a $90 set!! I'm still glad I bought this as it was refreshing to watch and is probably the best Gundam movie ever, but that just took away from some of enjoyment when I put in the disc and the PS3 is telling me no subtitle track exists. ARGH!!! Overall, there isn't more I can really say about this movie without going into spoiler territory. If you are a fan of the franchise, this is a must watch. I give it an 8/10 stars. |

I will echo your thoughts on the OVA/film. It's really really, really, good. The additional footage added on to the end doesn't contribute much. But I like knowing that somewhere on the back side of the fortress that a Full Armor GM wearing a G Armor was fighting a Psychomu Zaku all while Amuro & Char dueled. I expected that clip to be longer but it was still a welcome bonus for those of us who shelled out for this set. I'm extremely pleased with just as I have been with the Origin BD's. This one despite being much shorter as a film and smaller packaging wise, was packed with far more extras than any other BD premium set I've gotten before. |

Did not know that though, but at least Rightstuf tells people in advanced. I decided to preorder Thunderbolt on a whim two weeks ago when I saw the packaging on CD Japan. Quote:
So the battle at the end was new? Where did the OVA version leave off? |
IBO 2nd season is comfirmed for Fall 2016 and we got a teaser image for some Mobile suits:

Hopefully this means Toonami will go right into Season 2 after finishing Season 1.

I like the really simple one, I wonder if it's a new grunt.

So I watched the third disc to Seed today and OH GOD, this is where it all begins. Episodes 11-13 were fine and enjoyable despite Kira activating his god mode for the first time (never understood why it was a seed breaking though), but then comes in two freaking clip shows in a row. WTF?! The entire drama of Yzak blowing up the ship full of refugees was ruined because of this.

I've read part of the second arc of Thunderbolt and its okay. Not amazing but fine. The Atlas Gundam itself is way too weird for my tastes. Its got the super lanky body and the snow sled shield and the giant rail cannon that I don't find appealing. Although Bianca is the best thing to come out of what I've read of the second arc. |

So the first UU set had NT1, and this one has the Hygogg and apparently Z'Gok-E? Damn it Bandai, stop with this penny ante crap and give me some actual kits, or figures! GIVE ME MORE 0080! |
I watched the fourth disc to Seed last night and some of the stuff dealing with Not-Ramba Ral was good, but other parts of it was just flat out boirng. I completely forgot how annoying Cagalli is. Other than that, there isn't much to say about the show as nothing major is happening, it's just going through the motions.
EDIT: I watched disc five to Seed and I forgot to mention how much of a joke I find Yzak to be. He gets his helmet shattered and has a big bandage over half of his face, but when he pulls it off, it's this little tiny scar running up around his his nose. WTF? The way they made it appear to be was that he was now the Gundam equivalent of Two-Face. I guess the animators didn't want to turn fangirls off from watching the show though, because heaven forbid a pretty boy gets beat with an ugly stick in a story about war. The last episode that dealt with Andrew was good and I kind of liked the episode with Athrun and Cagali on the island. However, the next episode just starts in the middle of a battle making you feel like you missed a scene between the two episodes. Oh, and Cagali just happens to be a princess from Orb, how original. Well, that is it for now. If I remember right, the first two episodes on the next disc are clip shows, so I only need to watch the three episodes after that. |
Spent the day watching discs 6-9 of Gundam Flashback. No, seriously, what is up with all of the constant flashbacks? I don't think there has been a single episode that didn't have some type of flashback scene in this entire show. And then after having two more clip shows in a row, a few episodes later we get treated to half of a clip show episode. WTF?!
Okay, that aside, the second half of the show has been really good though. I really liked the whole thing they have done with Orb, the Clyne Faction, and episode 45 is just total badassery. On the other hand, the whole Kira and Cagalli being siblings is feels forced and tacked on just to give a reason as to why Kira and Cagalli should NOT be vying for each other's affection, even though they were doing it earlier in the show. Oh, and suddenly Athrun doesn't care about his childhood engagement with Lacus and she doesn't care for him either? Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. The Blue Cosmos finally make their appearance and they are kind of lame. The three speciality pilots have no character arcs or development whatsoever. Nevertheless, everything that has dealt with La Crueset has been awesome, especially when he gave us the backstory regardless of how convoluted it is. Lastly, the music continue to rocks. Tomorrow I watch the final disc! |

And we have our PV. All I can say is: 1. Gyancelot is the best. 2. Please be better than Try. Please oh please be better. |
I enjoyed Try, even if it was basically a rehash of the first series with less interesting characters
|
Kamiki Burning more screen time, that's all I ever wanted.

Do you guys think Gundam Build Fighters could work on a kids channel in the US like Nick Toons, Disney XD or maybe normal Cartoon Network? It would be cool to introduced younger people to Gundam. From what I've seen of it, it's a show for younger fans. Not to mention you would have a toy sale to sell to kids. Kids would have their Gundam show on TV while the older fans will have IBO on Toonami.
