Deka 4
I don't really have much to say, but the decision to delete this guy was a tad much. Kidnapping and smuggling are bad, but not execution levels bad... Anyway, I'm still trying to determine who I like more between Deka and their SPD counterparts. I definitely prefer Bridge to Sen-Chan, but between the rest, I'm still unsure. I might prefer Sky to Hoji, but that's only because Hoji's story ark in eps 3 and 4 was so cliche that I'm not sure if it's the character or just the writing that I disliked. |
Ooooooookay, they are monsters, the point of Sentai is to destroy the monsters. No one has ever complained before.
As for Kaku 12, that is the one with Tengu, right? |
SPD imprisoned them, though...
If they were going to be a normal Sentai, that's fine. But they're not. They're policemen and detectives. Getting a Delete approved for murderers is fine, but smuggling and kidnapping? I'm a tad afraid I'll see this later on. "You've been charged with Jaywalking on 12 planets. Delete Approved!" And yes. Kaku 12 was Tengu. |

Totally agreed with Switchblade. The cast is far superior to their SPD counterparts. Hoji was already a better character than Sky. But episode 37? That cemented him as one of my favorite blues ever. Sen-chan being the Only truly dull member of the team for about half the series

And again these guys are special police yes. But they are also super heroes. I don't care what the setting is, they're doing the same thing every sentai before or after has. They're destroying the monsters that threaten the Earth or life on it. Why does there need to be an alternative for guys like the Hell Siblings, or Shake, or Abrera, or Genio, or Durden, or any other number of them? These were serious criminals who committed murders and mass atrocities on countless planets. They were very real threats that if not stopped could and would have destroyed the earth. The whole point is that in a childrens show the bad guys are irredeemably bad and the good guys are absolutely good. Whose more "good" than a cop to a child? And who would be more seemingly evil? Big scary alien mosnters. Why would they try an alternative on someone who is so "clearly evil" to a child? This also brings up why the aliens associated with Dekaranger are humanoid like and based on average animals like dogs, swans, chickens, gorillas etc. They're the "good" aliens because they're based on animals that are earth like and relatable to children. |
I thought those events were retconned out during the new 52 (Don't know, I don't read DC)
Anyway, it's still a tad excessive that someone who smuggled things online got the same punishment as someone who was wanted for murder on 29 planets. Hell, seeing as how absolute they are, I'm a tad surprised Umeko wasn't Deleted for losing her license in episode 5... And isn't Kamen Rider for the same age group? Why are they allowed to take alternate routes, like how Kirihiko/Nasca was kind of sort of redeemed in Double, or the Mole Beastman being saved by Amazon instead of getting killed by him? |

And W is not a great example because the Dopants were being influenced by their memories. Yes they made the initial choice to use them but after that they were corrupted by them. They were innocent in that sense, predisposed to be redeemed. They weren't in full control of their actions. Alienizers are fully in control of themselves. |
