Basically, shilling a character is writing it so that the world bends over backward to make them look cool. For example, if Tsukasa could take on two riders at once, then the writers would put Diend in a situation where he'd have to fight 3, and he'd beat all 3 with no problem. That's Character shilling. It's making a character look cool by making everyone else look weak in comparison. Quote:
Kagami would ask Tendou for help and Tendou would say "No." 5 minutes later, Tendou would show up and save the day. Character of the week would ask Tsukasa for help and Tsukasa would say "No." 5 minutes later, we cut to a scene where Natusmi or Yusuke would be dragging Tsukasa to the fight and force him to help. |
Thanks for the explanation :)

Blade 1: They introduced 3 riders form the beginnning with defined personalities; a supporting cast and some of their backstory and a plotline for the next episode.
All in the first episode and it didn't feel rushed, that was awesome. |
Wonderful! I'm glad you enjoyed the first episode!

So what have I been watching that is related to Kamen Rider? Not much. The Kamen Rider Gaim(u) trailer does look promising, though. Quote:

-------------- Blade 2: Everything is happening too fast, BOARD is gone, Chalice is obviously an undead, and everybody is already friends with everybody, mind you it doesn't bother me per se, it's just that these are the kind of episodes that you expect around the halfway point of the series. I'm on episode 2 and I already feel like I have known this guys for a while. Also it seems that they are going for longer arcs than the ones in current rider series, that's pretty cool. |

--------------- Blade 3: Hajime is awesome, Tachibana was a test subject, the password was Double Joker (I guess that's where W came from), the Undead backstory was properly explained, and we learn how the seal was broken. The rider system is apparently damaging. Does this show ever slow down? Even the Undead go down way too fast. I mean is it possible to keep this pace for 40+ episodes? Oh and in case it isn't obvious enough I'm hooked. |

------------------- Blade 4: Hajime is awesome! Kenzaki is worried! Tachibana has motivations! Spontaneus combustion!? This show is great! I still haven't learned the names of the supporting cast! I like exclamation points! Blade 5: Karasuma pulled a Houdini, Hajime is still awesome, Kenzaki is getting more focus which is good thing, and it seems he finally realized who's Chalice, I can't tell you guys how much I missed Riders beating the crap out of each other. :) Seems like things will be slowing down, and that they are moving to more episodic arcs, not a bad thing. Also I love how they are called Kamen Riders from the very beginning. Also do the bikes transform with them? Hajime started with one bike and then he arrived with another as Chalice. 6: I watched it! Simply don't feel like writing anything :lol |

Kabuto 9. So Kagami is the new The Bee. Interesting. I did think he would be the secondary rider. The opening sequence were quite funny when after being hit Tendou claims he wasn't dead then when Kagami looked away he fainted. And that scene at the hospital was funny too. Also it seems like Hiyori and Tendou have met some years ago. Now its getting more interesting.

Just finished Den-O ep10. Axe Form is pretty nifty looking. Ryotaros' soft-voiced submissiveness can be a little overdone sometimes. It was pretty well overkilled in ep.8. I just noticed the Denliner car with the chimp sounds flings its munitions like poo. Madness! Also, how adorable is Naomi?

So what's the deal with Road Sector (other than that it's lame)? Did the show need to have some proper model bike for whatever reason? It's hard to take an 80s futuristic bike seriously when the camera keeps focussing on its Suzuki stickers.
|
Watched some Kabuto before I have to go to work, episode 15-
So Kagami almost got his butt killed huh? :lol And Tendou joined Shadow? OKay... |
So I'm up to episode 12 of Blade.
The Spider Undead aka Category Ace, is being targeted by Tachibana and the mysterious Undead and his organization. Which will result in the ultimate Rider aka Leangle. Thankfully Tachibana already got through the whole dying issue. that "hulking out" scene was annoying as heck. So far so good, Kenzaki is still cool even if most of the time he's reacting to the events of the series rather than actively participating in them, and Hajime is stuck with some guy who calls him aniki... I like the story they are telling for Hajime it's just that I don't really care much for Jin at the moment. For the first time in the series it seems they are moving to episodic arcs instead of the single narrative that lasted for most of the first episodes. So far so good. |

Blade 15:
The Tachibana-Isaka arc is done for with some casualties. T_T Hajime is back where he belongs and Kenzaki keeps showing that he's a great guy, but man it really bothers me how little the plot has focused on him, Hajime and Tachibana have had long arcs dedicated to them, all that we know of Kenzaki is the whole issue with his parents. Kenzaki role in the series so far can be summed up as "TACHIBANA-SAN!!!" and "CHALICE!!!!", I like him it's just that besides Hirose sending him out to fight the undead, in battles that are criminally short he hasn't done much. Oh and Leangle will debut next episode. i doubt anything good will come out of that. |
You better pray you like Leangle...
Anyway, Kenzaki's story arc is practically tied to Hajime's. He does become more of the focus of the series later on, but those two are damn near cause-effect with each other for a while :lol |

As for Kenzaki yeah, he's a guy that is defined more by his interactions with the other characters than by any personal storyline so far. It's interesting actually, not being the constant spotlight allows him to develop in unique ways. And he works very well with Hajime, their different persanalities yet similar goals clash in a very good way. Watched 16: It's nice to see Tachibana in a good mood. Granted, I doubt that will last very long :lol (cruel writers). And Kenzaki almost transformed into Leangle, wonder how that'll affect him. Oh and Leangle appeared, he didn't do much, I like his design, then again all of the designs in Blade are awesome. |
I like Leangle well enough. It's just that when his whole story arc begins, it gets a little repetitive.
|
Watched Kabuto 16 and halfway through 17-
Tendou is a damn troll, or he is so smart he just doesnt say anything. Daisuke is bad as Tsukasa so far. |
Blade 17:
-Leangle can release the undead... wtf? Way too backtrack all their progress so far. -They updated the op with the 4 riders, that's neat. -The heck is wrong with electric execution guy aka Kyryuu!? aka Garren original candidate (I guess) -So Mutsuki is a kind hearted and passive guy with heroic dreams using a belt made by villains and influenced by the Spider Undead, plus he now has 2 personalities.. things are going to end up terribly wrong for the guy, won't them? -And the Blue Spader is out of gas, seems Kenzaki really gets a low pay. :lol |
Well, Leangle's ability comes from the Remote (Tapir?) card, not a natural power.
And now Leangle/Mutsuki's story starts. You better like him, because he's not going anywhere for a while :lol |
