Honestly, the first episode of One Punch Man didn't really blow me away. May just be because I read the manga a few times and loved it so it was just kinda familiar. Hopefully once it strts getting to stuff I haven't seen it'll be more fun.
Action scenes were pretty rad though. |
Vampire D, hailed by many as a classic of the genre, a force which helped drive the OVA market, and is one of the longest running franchises within novels and anime. But is truly a classic? Well...
Vampire Hunter D |
Ever since I read the novels I have not been able to enjoy the anime at all.
|
I like the first Vampire Hunter D movie, but I do like Bloodlust better. 15 years later, a CG Vampire Hunter D TV series is in works. If the CG looks as bad as the CG in the Berserk movies then I'm going to pass.

Ok watched the Sentai filmworks anime this Sean that exclusive to hulu and u had to Download it but it was interesting first episode so I will be sticking with it. Also Gundam iron blood orphan man I haven't watch much five full completed shows that's it and I love every minute of and can not wait for more.

Comet Lucifer's first episode was decent enough but the "eek a lizard i am poor woman i must go have forced sexual tension with the lead now" scene pissed me right the hell off. Not just the fact that it was stupid (though it was) but that it was just the most incredibly generic and formulaic way to do that kind of scene. It was so unimaginative it was frankly kind of offensive.
I'm also frankly kind of offended that the awesome song from the pv is neither the opening theme or the ending theme. Considering that song is really the thing that got me interested in watching it, this is A BIG DEAL (it's not really that big of a deal, but I still hope that song pops up sometime soon). Anyway, it wasn't bad, which is sometimes all I can ask for. Fight scene was neat too. |

I was talking about the CG bits. They looked terrible. If the Vampire Hunter D has CG that looks like that then I'm going to pass. I personally wish that they would do a TV series that tries to adapt the novels since there is enough to make into a TV series.

So watched the first episode of Beautiful Bones- Sakurako's investigation and it was really enjoyable it remained me of Sherlock you know the Sherlock Steven Moffat works BBC show I mean Sakurako's main female lead and loves bones but how she finds things out on them reminds me of Sherlock and can't wait to see where this show goes.
|
Finally watched One Punch Man's first episode. I don't think I've laughed that hard at an anime before :lolol.

Binge-watched Sunred again.
Never gets old. :) |
I know I don't really like Gargantia at the best of times, but the Meguru Kouro, Haruka ova (1) was actually pretty awful.
Just. Awful. Ugh. They couldn't even get someone who actually worked on the show to do the script for this thing? Because the script was terrible. So much out of character and poor dialogue in general. And a generally bland story in general (har har, sng in a nutshell, but seriously, that ooc). Blehrgh. They pulled some """plot twist""" shit at the end, but seriously, Suisei no Gargantia, no, I don't even care. Try having a halfway decent ova or at least an interesting character as set up for your fancy plot twists before you expect me to care about oh no! A ROBOT. Ugh, still another overly long episode of this left... edit: oh yeah, I watched the second ova of the other stuff. The one with the commander. I thought it was good as far as the fact that it didn't focus on anyone from Gargantia goes, because all those jerks are annoying (especially Amy). Unfortunately the female lead sucked a lot too. I guess it's ok since at least she had the decency to die. (wish Amy would do the same) It was kind of a rush job, which I guess was to be expected since it's just one episode. (would it have killed them to use the 50 minutes ova to tell a story actually worth exploring like this one instead of "hurr durr lets have stupid flashbacks and then get buried under some rocks: the episode?"). Still probably among the best...? Most interesting? Let's say interesting...Gargantia things I've watched. It could have been worse. |
I started watching Golgo 13. So far, total badass. Agent 47 wishes he can as badass as Golgo 13 :D!
|
I also enjoy Toonami's episode of Akame ga Kill and I still like the show a lot. I also enjoy watching Parasyte for the second time too. I would add Akame Ga Kill on the shows that I like while other everyone dislikes.
Other anime I like, but everyone seems to dislike: Apocalypse Zero Dragon Ball Kai (At least by the Toonami fanboys) F-Zero (TV series) Fullmetal Alchemist (2003 TV series) Genocyber Mad Bull 34 Urotsukidoji: Legend of the Overfiend Violence Jack I'm probably forgetting more. |
A lot of people dislike Akame Ga Kill because it strays off from the Manga, and we're left to accept that the Akame Ga Kill anime is more canon than what the Manga has to offer, sure the Manga is still on going and such.
Sure it's a good Anime flick, but it became a disappointment since it was post to be a contender for the big three, Bleach, Naruto, and Once Piece, and even Attack On Titan. It was even done by the studio who did Steins gate which was a great anime. So for most that read and loves the Manga, it sucks. Like seriously it just does. For those that just go in with out knowing anything about the Manga, then yea I guess it'll be good in your guys eyes. Some are fan of both, me and most others just can't simply get behind it. Also Fate Zero is no where near as a highly disliked anime, if anything it's one of the best Fate shows that has to off from Ufotable and Type Moon. |
F-Zero is not the same as Fate/Zero.
I've never felt that the 2003 FMA was disliked, personally. It's not as loved as Brotherhood, but I mostly hear good things about it. |
Ever since Brotherhood came out, a lot of people jump on the band wagon and was like "The last FMA series sucks so much! Brotherhood is a million times better!". I plan to read the Akame Ga Kill manga once I finish the show like I normally do with most anime. I like to view adaptions on their own, so I try not to compare it to the source material too much. I still enjoy Apocalypse Zero despite them trying to water down all 11 volumes of the manga into a 2 episode OVA.

Ok perfect insure first was a amazing it going to be one awesome trip also just like god eater crunchyroll week late on Gundam iron blood orphan
|
I also watched Riding Bean tonight. From the people who created Gunsmith Cats, so I had high hopes for it. While it's not as good as Gunsmith Cats, it's still pretty awesome. Bean is just a awesome character and I loved every moment of him on screen. The other characters where pretty good too, but Bean really stole the show for me. The anime has suspense, intense and kick ass action. It has everything you want a 80's action pop corn flick. If you like action anime or old school anime then Riding Bean is worth a watch. A shame that a series never got kick off. At least we got Gunsmith Cats later on. Grade: B-

well, I can't say I'm surprised Brotherhood is kinda casting a shadow over the original anime.
Brotherhood blew it out of the water and is probably one of the best anime made. in terms of writing, characters, action, whatever you can think of, it nails it spectacularly in any way possible. and I love that in this sea of anime that people push with bittersweet endings/mediocre ones, it's an anime that gives us a happy ending. |
Brotherhood is pretty much my favorite anime to date. I really love that anime, so much so that I have no plans to ever watch the 2003 one--just because as good as it may be, it's not going to even come close to Brotherhood, and I don't want my FMA opinions to be muddled.
Also the thing with Rose makes me really uncomfortable. The 2003 series just sounds more depressing in general, and yeah...no thanks. |
Brotherhood likely gets the amount of love it does for a simple reason: viewers like to have the "real" adaptation first before anything else comes out.
It's one of the reasons Harry Potter fans get so annoyed when the movies are shorter than the books, or have parts left out. They don't get to see their favorite scenes, or a really important scene the director chose to leave out brought to life. If the 2003 FMA was released later rather than first (which would likely mean that Brotherhood in this case would still have filler episodes, like the big 3, to give the manga time to outpace the anime), then some fans may be more forgiving because it would be treated as an intersting alt. anime, rather than a "lie" of an adaptation. Even if you don't like or care about Attack on Titan, imagine if that chibi anime that's out know was the first adaptation of the manga: how pissed would the Titan fans be, that they weren't getting the 'true' anime they wanted? ...though to be fair, many of my friends who are into AoT started with and prefer the anime. |
Personally, I think people just like Brotherhood because it's really, really good.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ |

I still like to view adaptions on their own. Who cares if the anime does not stay close to the manga or the novel. As long they tell a good story then why should it matter? Movies like Starship Troopers was very different from the book and yet they made a good movie. I feel like FMA '03 does a good job on being a stand alone anime. Same with the early 2000's Hellsing TV series.
|
The fandom is actually pretty split on FMA. There are still plenty of people out there who prefer the 2003 series, they just aren't quite as vocal as the people who encourage newcomers to watch Brotherhood instead.
Personally I think Brotherhood is the better show by quite a margin, but both have their merits and the 2003 version isn't 'hated' by any stretch of the imagination. |
Animes that I really am enjoying from this season are:
One Punch Man Concrete Revolutio Rakudai Kishi No Chivalry The Asterisk War Lance N' Masques also GARO The Crimson Moon and Gundam: Iron Blooded Orphans but I've mention those else where. |
So far I'm not really digging anything from this season too much except Owarimonogatari.
The Perfect Insider may win me over quickly, though. First episode was pretty interesting but I need more content to judge properly. One Punch Man isn't doing much for me beyond reminding me that I may just be the worst person at handling anime adaptations of manga I like. First Soul Eater NOT!, now One Punch Man...however decent or great the adaptation may be every deviance from the source material just messes with me. It sucks. I suck. Seriously. So terrible at handling adaptations. And this is why I like watching the anime first.... (gotta remind myself never to watch Centaur no Nayami if by some miracle it were to get an anime) OPM is still a pretty great adaptation, though. I'm gonna start loving it in around ~2 episodes time I'm sure. |
The anime that I'm current watching at the moment:
Akame Ga Kill Dragon Ball Super Golgo 13 Parasyte (the dub on Toonami) |
So this reported on BBC news uk http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-34483459

Brotherhood however, blows it out of the water by the immense quality of the series alone. |
I check out the first episode of Terror in Resonance and it was pretty good. I plan on checking out the rest later.
|
Terror in Resonance is a tragedy. It starts out super promising but gets derailed about halfway through and doesn't really recover. It''s one of the biggest disappointments of last year imo. Still possibly worth watching, I suppose, but dang, every time I think about it I get sad. Could have been so much more...

After reading 9 volumes of FMA manga brother hood skipped over the hole coal mine arc at start so to get full on manga adaption in anime for I'll still need to watch 2003 anime to get full story of manga
|
I just hate it when fans are just pissing and moaning that "It's not like the manga!" or "It's not like the video game!". Adaptions should view and enjoy on their own. I've been enjoying the Danganronpa anime despite me never playing of the games.
|
I do prefer adaptations being closer to the original than being their own.
I will never not be upset over the anime adaptation of Black Cat. the manga is amazing and the anime is a pile of dog shit. if you are gonna go with original additions to the adaptation, do it like MonMusu did it. whenever they went off the manga adaptation, they added in fun stuff or just made the scene easier to understand than it was in the manga. like, I love Cerea's scene where she eats a carrot stick. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sxrk8_wTu2I |
