Pocket Monsters
I'm behind 18 Series counting Master Journeys. Catching up on DVD. Tomb Raider Tomb Raider VI The Angel Of Darkness got a DVD game adaption I might play in a few days so I don't skip any. I so far have played up to Tomb Raider X (PS 3). I'm on Area 4 of Tomb Raider VII Legend (PS 2) |
Just grabbed the Megaman Battle Network Collection. Can't decide which game to start with. On the one hand, I've never played 1 and 2 and it would be nice to play the games in order. On the other, BN3 was my favorite and it's been so long since I played it....that's the one I'm most looking forward to playing and I fear that I'll be thinking about 3 the entire time I play through 1.
So do I go chronological order or nostalgia order? edit: I started with 3. I'm excited to check out the first two, but I want to do it when I'm not craving an experience I've already had. It'll help me appreciate the differences more. |
Chronological. BN1 is the weakest game, mechanics-wise, so best to get that out of the way first.
BN4 you can feel free to skip in its entirety though. Awful game. |
I'd like to see a technological-themed PR season embodied with mystical powers from astral worlds, ancient civilizations and etc...

1-3 especially feel like one package to me because they use the same sprites, 4 started to look different. Quote:

I have recently discovered The Boondocks.
My hope in western animation has been restored (yes I know it's old but a lot of animated shows these days just don't seem that funny anymore). |
Tomb Raider The Action Adventure DVD Game used the PC version
of Tomb Raider VI The Angel Of Darkness with new footage so it will be interesting to see what new gets added for this adaption. |

I was more in the mood for nostalgia, so I went with 3. I know I'd be frustrated trying to play 1 when I really wanted to play 3. Once I scratch that itch, I'll get to 1 eventually. |
My problem mainly is any game starting in the PS 3 era due to the size.
Which is why I don't own too many PS 3 games. What I do own are next chapter titles continuing from PS 2 to fill in main line franchises. Even there I have very few of them unless I knew I was playing them long term. Final Fantasy XIII , Metal Gear Solid IV and V , Street Fighter IV , Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IX and X , Tekken 6 and Tomb Raider X (Survivor Trilogy Part 1) are the ones I own to fill in the next chapters. I do own Ninja Gaiden Trilogy as the only exception to this on PS 3. So starting with PS 3 games I would need to cloud store them and play connected to wi fi. PS 2 games not much of an issue as they have some small game save files and you run off the disks. |

Despite being a "western" show, I think the heavy anime influence has helped the show stand out all these years later |
Game Systems And Difficulty Of Game Play
It seems to me with each new game systems that the game okay gets worse in terms of toughness and here is a major case of this. Tomb Raider The first 5 games had challenge balance and were playable. But when Tomb Raider VII Legend hit holy bollocks. Total insanity out of the gate with jumps and what not that didn't seem like you could make it. The challenge level was pushing to insanity with each game in Legend. Now with Tomb Raider X - XII (Survivor Trilogy) this is way worse with the drop of the PS 3 and 4. The point of this being that just because a new system drops is no excuse to ramp up how hard games should be. My playing the Legend Trilogy has proven it. On another note getting caught up on the P S 2 era a bit. |

He was Bebop in Michael Bay's TMNT sequel and also had a small role in the first Harold and Kumar movie. |
Teaser for the next Monsterverse film.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1QLQCfw5lAM To be honest, I'm way more excited and looking forward to Toho's new Godzilla this year, but I'm still interested in how the Monsterverse goes, despite my feelings on GvK and concern for it becoming MCU levels. |

P.S. In general, it seems to me that after GvK, a modern remake of "King Kong Escapes" suggests itself. The movie of '67 was a Bond-style story of the time + a huge monkey. I'm wondering how something like this could be implemented now. |
That's neat. Dunno who the new munky is.

Tomb Raider The Action Adventure
This version cuts out a lot of level game play and has been remade as a game movie which is interesting. This version has 21 levels but not sure how close to the game it is or if this is something on it's own. |
Hard to believe, I join here around 10 years ago.

So I heard Takeshi's castle, or MXC for those who saw the dub of the original, is getting rebooted by Amazon Prime. Saw the trailer and Subaru Kimura who voiced Vice in Kamen Rider Revice and Hayato Tani who was in the original run and was Commander Sugata in Maskman of all people are in it as regulars.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=65QkRgXKhzQ Subaru Kimura is the guy wearing black and Hayato Tani is the guy wearing white. I'm surprised the freaking commander from Maskman was in the original. :lolol |

When I first join, I join to talk about Kamen Rider because I was super into it at the time over the last couple of years. Now these days, I don't follow the series as much I used too. Once Ghost came out in 2015, I started to stop liking the series. I try to get back into it with Bulid, but the show did nothing for me.

I'm still behind Ultraman and Super Sentai. I don't care much for PR though. I try to get back into it, but I found myself not liking most of the shows that I watched. I may come off as a snob, but I like Sentai more than PR.

If you want to get into Ultraman, maybe wait for the new show coming up in July? Since it streams for free on YouTube, just check the first episode and see how it goes. No pressure attached, no looming big pile of episodes, you can have a fresh start with something new like everyone else. |
I must say, it's a healthy mindset to go "Well if I'm not enjoying myself I won't force myself to watch it" cause as obvious as it aounds, I still hear nothing but complaining about this kind of shit. Particularly Star Wars or MCU movies

Use the free time that opens up to find something new. There's so much stuff out there to have fun with and indulge oneself in, you would never know what you could find next. |

I picked up the Final Fantasy XIV Stormbringers expansion free on Play Station Network.
It turns out that I'd gotten Final Fantasy XV Royal Edition unexpectedly. Also I'd picked up Kingsglave from XV. Hopefully I can snag a few of the other games next week on PSN. I'd love to get Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 soon possibly for Mega Man 9 and 10. No need to double dip on the first 5 if I have the game disk on hand. The Mega Man disk I have goes up to Mega Man 8 so the double dip would be for Mega Man 6 - 8. No need for the Mega Man X double dip as I own the 8 games on PS 2. |
Why they stop in Mega Man 8 ?

I was watching Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon Sailor Stars. (Viz DVD). There were so
many problems that Dic decided not to bring it to the states. Mega Man Mega Man 1 - 10 were released in Mega Man Legacy Collection 1 and 2. (Five games each.) PS 2 put the first 8 out together so I'm holding for Legacy Collection 2 next week for Mega Man 9 and 10. Mega Man X1 - X6 were released togther. (SNES and PS1.) I played a little bit of X4 - X6 on PS Mini to check them out. I also own X7 and X8 for PS2. |

I definitely think it's okay to drift away from a hobby if you aren't feeling as into it, but at the same time it is good to remind yoyrself that you can always come back to it if the mood strikes you!
I feel like I'm at a bit of a low point in my interest in Kamen Rider myself. I don't think I'm going to watch live for a few years once Geats wraps up (which is a fun show, but doesn't quite have that addictiveness the best tokusatsu has). Of course, I'm still plenty into tokusatsu as a whole, so it's not like I'm going anywhere! Just experiencing more of the other shows and movies the genre has to offer. That reminds me I need to finish Saber... I started watching it with my sister but she moved out... Guess it all falls to me now, but I also have to finish Tomica Hero Rescue Force... Argh, I shouldn't have started so much at once. |
With Mega Man as I own the first 8 games on PS 2 I'm holding
out for Legacy Collection 2. Mainly for Mega Man 9 and 10. The only double dip would be due to Mega Man 6 - 8. Mega Man 9 - 11 will be PS 4. I will need Mega Man 11 at some point. As for that hobby comment - Toku shows When I watch a Super Squadron series it's mostly not to miss any episodes. Games I play games mainly not to miss any installments. I might not finish the game but I won't have been too far behind. Most next chapters will be on PS 4 forward. I had luckily cloud saved Final Fantasy IV. |
