Have started watching Zyuohger and...love it. First Sentai to really grab me. Maybe it's just the furry in me or something, but I'm just having fun with this one.
|
I am watching Duplo Rangerrrrr.... Zyuohger. :lolol
But jokes aside I am enjoying it so far. |
Just watched Liveman 14. I really liked this episode, it was cool to see Yusuke doubt himself, and Ashura is turning out to be a pretty great villain. I think my favorite thing about this series so far is how weak the Livemen are. It's a bit more realistic than some Sentai, where I feel like the characters can just will themselves to victory. They're struggling to win the fight. It makes the stakes so much higher and the episodes more interesting - even more so now with Ashura in the mix. I kind of fell off the series for a bit but after that episode I'm excited to watch more again.

Have Toei or any actors pologized to fans for Bad Sentai Show or Bad Kamen Rider Show or Bad Power Rangers Show?
Cameron Jebo who played Silver Ranger of Super Megaforce kindly apologize to fans for Power Rangers Super Megaforce He says that Super Megaforce got a poor writing and he felt they wasted his character development Shigeki Hosokawa who played Kamen Rider Hibiki also apologized to the fan about the Second Half of Kamen Rider Hibiki He HATED Second Half of Kamen Rider Hibiki and didn't like the rewrite FINAL Episode of Kamen Rider Hibiki Toei give an unnecessary rival to Asumu who later played Fan Favorite Kamen Rider Zerono, Asumu who was supposed to be the focus of Hibiki was demoted to extra and his screen time was given to ONI Rider They make Hibiki more Action-Oriented Superhero Show than a Supernatural Show |
Actors apologizing is on a totally different level from a company apologizing. I haven't seen fox apologize for their first attempt at Deadpool and if they haven't done that I don't think toei will ever apologize for a less than stellar show.

There was nothing so bad in Sentai so far that anyone would have to apologize for it.
And even the bad stuff in Kamen Rider is nothing the company would have to apologize for. Companies apologize for offensive stuff, not for making a product that doesn't appeal to everyone. |
Some of those series are offensive to our brains. :lol

Anyway, I watched Changeman 5-7 and the movie today. I just don't know about this show, honestly. So far all 7 episodes have been pretty much the same thing over, and episode 5 was just flat out weird, but not in a good way. It just starts out as if there was supposed to be a first parter and stuff happens. It didn't make any sense. The mech fights are pretty boring and the mech looks like Copter from Gobots. Also, the rangers are not really all that special yet. I guess that is the homage Ohranger made to this series, a generic cast with no development. Thankfully, it's only been 7 episodes, so the show is bound to get better, especially since it was popular enough to live on for 55 episodes. The monster designs for the last episodes have been pretty awesome though. I am curious to see where this Ahames thing is going to lead to as I do have her figure. It figures that I have taken my time to catch up and GUIS seems to have disappeared again on it. I guess I should have waited a bit longer, but since they were doing so well releasing stuff on a weekly basis I was expecting them to be in the teens by now. Oh well. |
Hey now...leave Goseiger alone. That is actually a food season but a lot of people don't give it a fair shot.
|
Goseiger is alright, but it messes up a lot. Power distribution is all over the place (Multiple episodes in a row of gaining new abilities, and episodes that centered on one character featured another character getting new headders for no reason). The villains are rather dull (Warstar is basically Sentai default: Evil king sitting in dread fortress doing nothing, the mutant things are even more dull (Their arc just drags on and on), and the Mantorintis are a total afterthought with how little they ever get to do (They're basically used to set up Brajira and his heartless nature, rather than be real adversaries to the Goseigers). The characters go from happy go lucky to complete idiots (I can understand Eri putting her all into making a boy have a good birthday. I can't justify her abandoning her team to bake a cake), and GoseiKnight, while my favorite character, doesn't really bring anything new (Sixth with a chip on his shoulder that shuns the team and thinks they're bitches). His story arc of understanding humanity with...Nozomu (Was that his name?) was quite nice, though.
With Goseiger, the first third it too stuffed, the second is just a slog, and the 3rd, while nice, means you've already spent 30ish episodes to get to. |

And they weren't developed much because even the leaders of each faction were little more than MOTWs to the true villain of the show who scouted the world from orbit, looked for weak points beneath the surface, and used robotic laboratories to finalize his plan to destroy the planet. |
Up to episode 45 of Dekaranger. Deka is similar to Boukenger in how it's a largely episodic series lacking a full-season plot, but is ultimately much better because:
1) the episodes are just better on average 2) there are a bunch of 2-part episodes allowing for some better-paced short stories 3) Dekaranger has the throughline of Agent Abrella, who remarkably debuts in the first five episodes but is unknown to the Dekarangers until like episode 30. Abrella has the rare qualities of being mysterious, understated (at least at first), AND threatening. Rock-solid villain. So yeah TL;DR I'm almost done with Dekaranger and it's really good. Still stuck around episode 30 with Jetman and episode 5 to 10 with a few other shows. I've also been writing reviews of the Super Sentai series I've finished on my blog, linked in my signature. |
To tag off of Monsoon, I actually finished Dekaranger just now.
Dude, that was one hell of a series. Kudos to whoever worked on that. I still think Arakawa's finest work was Abaranger, but Dekaranger was awesome, I did not expect to like it that much considering I'm not too much of an episodic type of guy but those did work. I'm going to write a final review but it will take some time, but what a great series. |

Over the weekend I watched up to episode 10 of both Magiranger and ToQger. Really like both!
ToQger is *aggressively* silly. If you don't give a hot shit about trains and prefer darker stories in your tokusatsu then it will seem like the dumbest Super Sentai ever. But hey, if you give it a chance and don't mind the sillier side of Super Sentai, it's pretty fun! None of the cast are so annoying as to be deal-breakers, and the imagination gimmick is often employed in hilarious ways: the kendama battle against Stamp Shadow immediately comes to mind. The combat on foot is pretty solid, but the mecha... well they look a little weird, and I don't like the mecha action as much as that of other 2000s Super Sentai. I do love the ultra-gothic designs of the Shadow Line villains, tho. Like some steampunk Castlevania shit. I'll probably watch more ToQger this week. I like Magiranger so far as well, but not as much as ToQger. It rides its themes of courage and Harry Potter-esque magic maybe even harder than ToQger's imagination and trains, but not offensively so. I like how often the cast bickers - that they're siblings helps to justify it without them all seeming like total assholes. The combat on foot isn't my favorite, but the mecha stuff is pretty dope! The concept of transforming into their mecha instead of piloting them is neat, and both MagiDragon and MagiKing look fresh as fuck. The Infershia villains also look cool, but I know that Wolzard eventually turns good, is the kids' father, the mom is still alive, etc. thanks to Gokaiger and assorted reading I've done (whoops!). I'll probably watch more Magiranger later, but it's not as high a priority as ToQger or Jetman. TL;DR I still like Super Sentai |
Started GoGoV the other day, up to episode six, getting real tired of hearing "nii-san" every five seconds.
|
Watched more ToQger and Jetman. Probably the brightest and darkest Super Sentai shows, respectively. I dig it. Up to 33 in Jetman and 24 in ToQger.
I recently finished writing a Boukenger review on my blog (like, minutes ago). In the very early stages of a Dekaranger review. Haven't even finished copying the shell yet, heh. |
What makes Jetman feel so dark?

So I got through 10 episodes of Maskman and Magiranger in the past week.
I'm not impressed with Maskman at all. For a series that many people love and is often in top 10 lists, I expected it to be better, and it's the first sentai that I've seen which I've actually disliked thus far. And it's endearingly boring too, the first episode throws you into the fire with no explanations at all about who or how these people met/were chosen to be Maskmen and is insanely rushed too. The episodes themselves aren't interesting, having some pretty generic plots until we get to Takeru vs Igam, which was actually pretty good. I guess the positives is the action is good and the cast is really likable as of right now, and it has the 1980's Martial Arts vibe. Magiranger's enjoyable so far, I kinda like it. It hasn't dragged me in or compelled me as much as Aba and Deka, but it's cool. I'm not too big on the characters individually(besides Urara), but the bonds shown as a family are awesome and I hope the series does more of that, and Wolzard is awesome. But sometimes the episodes get really weird and kind of too silly for me and I often ask myself what I'm watching. It's alright. |
Maskman and Magiranger are average to me. THey have some cool moments, but that is about it.
|
I'm currently watching Gekisou sentai CARRRRANGER!
|
I've watched all of ToQger except for the Vs. Kyouryuuger movie and the Returns movie. Will probably wrap that up later tonight. I really liked ToQger! Or at least I liked it more than I initially expected to, since it doesn't have a great reputation within much of the fanbase.
I've watched about 35 episodes of Jetman, so I'll probably dive hard into that one later this week. After Jetman, it'll probably be Magiranger, Abaranger, or Carranger. I'm in the 5- to 10-episode range in all three of them and I like each of them okay. |

Been sitting on the Ohranger finale. Decided to watch it to celebrate the anniversary, and it also happened to be my 900th Sentai episode.
|
I've been really feeling like I'm "done" with Sentai after the past few seasons. It's not so much I disliked them, but just felt massively indifferent towards them. I thought it was probably just series fatigue and that it was time to move on, but Zyuohger's really won me back.
I'll probably go back to watch one of the earlier seasons I still haven't seen when I can find the time. |

I felt the same way last year. Ninninger just did not do anything for me, and while Rider was still good to me, Ghost just loves to shove the toys down peoples throats. So far this year I haven't really felt anything to get me to watch Toku. I've been watching other shows on Netflix recently, but Toku has not clicked with me recently.
I've heard Zyuohger is good, Ghost is getting better, and PR right now is not that good. Perhaps taking time off then coming back later will help rekindle my enjoyment. |
Dino charge honestly is staring to go downhill a bit. I liked regular Dino Charge because of the fact that i felt like stuff was actually happening and the rangers felt like they had a part in all of it. With Dino Supercharge, i feel like it is suffering from the same problems as kyoryuger now: After Tyler gets the powerup that's the equivalent of Kyoryu Red Carnival (dont remember the name of it), the roles of the rangers seem to be less and less. Dino charge does try to mitigate it a bit by making Tyler not as strong as King, but that's really small potatoes in the long run. Like Kyoryu violet, Kendall feels like a really pointless addition to be the ranger. She literally does nothing that makes an impact on the overall plot. Even the spirit rangers (grey, cyan, etc.) dont feel like they belong. Dino Supercharge's problem is that It's kinda missing some opportunities to make it a very well off series. But so far, I still think that the last good power ranger series was Jungle Fury (I dont think that RPM is THAT great.) and the last decent Sentai that I seen was ToQger (Yeah I said ToQger. Sue me. At least ToQger had decent villains and some understandable characters).
|
I'm loving Zyuohger so far, but I can't bring myself to watch Ghost at all. The first two episodes were just that down right dreadful and from what I have heard, the series has gotten progressively worse.
|
Zyuohger so far, has given me a reason to continue Sentai. Im currently watching Zyuohger and Megaranger. And while Zyuohger did have 1 bad episode, which was episode 7, because lets be real, the ghost portion and the red blue and yellow battles were pointless, I only somewhat enjoyed it only for tusk and amu's story point which gave us more for amu's personality, but otherwise...it was meh. Megaranger on the other hand...is alright for me. When Its episodes are good, they are REALLY GOOD, but when they're bad, they are outright BORING. I thing the delta mega and the super galaxy mega intro episodes are the worst episodes of the sentai so far. The characters are another story. Kenta is ok, shun I still kinda find unlikeable but he is smart and thinks of clever things so....that balances it out, Kouichiro is such a stick in the mud that I cant relate to this dude at all, Chisato is unfortunately bland but she is a good fighter, and I like Miku. She reminds me of Kagura (which can be both bad and good), and Mega Silver (I like to call him space dandy since he reminds me of him) is pretty funny. Probably the best character. However, if there's one thing I do love about megaranger, its the pacing; it is probably one of the better paced sentais.
|
I'm legit convinced I'm the only Megaranger fan on TokuNation lmao.
Amazing series. |
