I think normal TV recording. Toonami has doing well since they brought it back in 2012. Attack on Titan, Space Dandy, Kill la Kill, Sword Art Online, Dimension W, Parasyte and Akame Ga Kill did really well on the network.

Episode 4 got over 1 million, but the ratings for the show are okay. It won't surprise me if Season 2 does not air on Toonami.

I watched the next two discs of Destiny today and Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. I'm not sure which is worse, the fact that the majority of episodes on them were boring or how many times they had some sort of flashback scene. Now I did like the episode when they had to free one of the countries from the Earth Alliance's control, but my god Shin is such an unlikable douche bag. He is so aggressive and hasn't even grown as a character one bit. It feels like they were trying to make him Kamille 2.0, but without the personality.

Well I just finished watching Destiny and it is without a doubt one of the poorest Gundam series thus far. Now it isn't one of the worst anime series ever made, as it does have a lot of high production values that saves it, especially when it comes to the music (sans that horrid fourth opening song) and animation, but for every one thing this show does well, it does five things wrong. One of its biggest issues is Shin. He is by far the worst character to be found in this thing. He might as well be named Shin Clinton because he is allowed to get away with any and everything he does just because the writers couldn't think of anything else to do with him. He really could have used some Bright Slaps or Wong Style Curb Stomping to get the point across to him. However, he doesn't, so he spends the entire series acting like an self entitled little **** and does not have to be held accountable for his actions one bit. Then we have Rey, who could have been one of the best characters in the show, but they don't bother to do anything with him until the last three episodes of the show. More than half of the series should have been spent on developing him as Rau's clone and what sets him apart. Instead, we are just supposed to believe he suddenly changes in the last 3 minutes of the show.

Oh, and don't get me started on the Zechs rip-off that is Neo Roanoke. WTF? Mu had a huge sacrifice in the original series and then they just pissed all over it here by adding in this predictable plot twist and they couldn't even be bothered to have actually developed Neo. In fact, none of the Alliance guys were developed. Sting just disappears after Auel and Stella are dead, not that it matters since none of them held any significance to the show to begin with.

Then we have Kira and gang, who pretty much stole the last act of the show, but there wasn't anything new about them. Everything they did or believed in was the same stuff we already had in the last series. All this show did was repeat the same message to the point where it felt like it was being drilled into your head with a corkscrew. None of them were in any mortal danger at any time, which also took away from any sort of suspense there could have been.

Lastly, none of the other characters were all that interesting. Durandel was just another villain we have already had from these shows before but done better. Sadly though, he may be the best character in the show, but the last three episodes really ruined him. Gladys was just Ramius 2.0 who then had an out of character moment in the last few minutes of the show, which makes very little sense. In fact, her sudden change is even worse than Rey's. The blue haired guy from Orb was a really terrible character and it was fun to see him get his just desserts after Cagali returns. Speaking of Cagali, if you thought she was bad in Seed, she really cranks up the stupid here. Oh my god she is such a terrible character. Oh yeah, then there are the two Zaft sisters, which were useless. The worst part is how Lunamarie doesn't even seem to care that her sister was thought to be killed by Shin after like the first 30 seconds.

Now the mobile suits, sans the Not-Psycho Gundam and Not-Hyaku Shiki, were kind of cool. I did like the three the Extendeds used even though they never really did anything beyond their premier episode. The Strike Freedom's ability to use Funnels was pretty cool and a lot more interesting than just watching Kira flail lasers around in a circle from his first machine.

Another huge issue with the show is the amount of clip shows and flashbacks. Every episode had what seemed like 2-3 minutes worth of flashbacks. If I got paid every tie they showed the scene where Shin's sister needed a hand, I would be rich. Hell, even a quarter of freaking Final Plus was full of flashbacks and that episode was made because of how lackluster the original finale was. WHAT THE ****?! This show had 4 friggin clip shows in it and that was way too much considering how rushed the last three episodes were. This show is the very definitive of laziness. Sunrise clearly wanted to cash in on Seed's success, but instead of doing something new and unique, they just ripped off Zeta and their own predecessor to bring us one of the most generic, bland, and uninspiring Gundam series ever made. As such, there is no reason to watch this show unless you must watch every Gundam series in existence. If not, skip it and watch Zeta Gundam instead. This show is just over stuffed with characters that do nothing for several episodes and when they die we are supposed to care about them, but we don't because we barely even knew them.

UGH!! Well, I have now completed every Gundam series except for Victory, which I will watch when I get the BDs. YAY!!!!!

I just recently finished watching the Original Gundam movie trilogy. They were pretty enjoyable, and have really put me on a Gundam kick as of late.

That is how my entire Gundam kick started back in March. Rightstuf announced they were going to be bringing ZZ to BD so I went out and bought the original series, watched it, and then everything began spiraling out of control.

I'm on Gundam 00 as my first series, where should I go after this? I haven't heard good things on the 2nd season so I might not watch it but I'm enjoying the first season.

Given that Iron Blooded Orphans's second season is about to start soon, I'd say hold off on that before diving into the story so don't have to wait by weekly for new episodes.

I'd second the nomination for Gundam X though one of the best Gundam series out there IMO.

Who says the second season isn't good? The second season is fantastic and pretty much concludes the plot threads that weren't finished in Season 1. If someone didn't like S2, it's because Season 1 did something new while Season 2 went into a more traditional route for Gundam, which it should. It's the movie that isn't good, but it still needs to be watched at least once.

Everything else is pretty much forgettable. Except Victory, I can't speak for that one as I haven't seen it yet. It's the only Gundam series I have not seen.

Season 2 is fantastic. While the grey areas of the plot are gone in season 2, it has good character arcs and gets even more awesome. And watch the movie too, it's fantastic.

After 00, watch Iron Blooded Orphans. Its a good show with good characters and an interesting plot.

I have to honest, I'm currently watching IBO on Toonami and it's starting to lose my interest. Nothing seems to be happening and the characters aren't doing anything interesting.

IBO feels like it's paced like an OVA. It's better watched in chunks than weekly. Especially if you NEED MS fights every episode. I hope season two is better paced for its format.

I don't need a MS fight every episode, I just need to feel like the plot is going somewhere. I tried holding off and watching a few episodes at a time, but then I forgot what happened in the last episode I watched. :lol

So I just watched the BD and I don't know if it was thanks to the fixed subtitles or the better picture quality, but this is hands the first time I have really enjoyed this movie a lot. It still has its pacing issues thanks to Quess, but I really enjoyed this viewing quite a bit. As for the subs, there's still a few grammatical mistakes like "He braked the backend of Axis," and "She charm enticed Amuro," or something like that, but the vast majority of them are fixed. Even the translations during Char's speech makes so much more sense now as instead of "the Haman," it talks about the Titans and Haman as two seperate entities.

That new Strike Freedom Gundam looks amazing though.

It occurs to me we haven't had a Destiny RD announcement for quite some time.

I'm hoping this doesn't mean the end of them. I was really looking forward to a GOUF or Yzak's ZAKU Phantom. Possibly Chaos, Abyss, or Gaia Gundam as well.

Gundam F91 - Such beautiful animation wasted one of the most down right boring Gundam plots ever. This movie starts off really strong with a kick ass battle where we get to see a countless number of civilains caught in the middle of and getting to see little details like bullet caps and debris flying about that you don't normally see. It brings a really nice gritty realism to the battlefield. Unfortunately, it all goes downhill from there with some of the most lackluster characters in the franchise. None of them are remotely memorable, their motivations don't make sense, and new characters keep sprouting out of nowhere as if there is a Federation Clown Car hidden off screen. Seabrook is a boring as hell protagonist and we never actually learn what motivates him to do anything. He is just there. In one scene they said he could be a Newtype, in another he is called a Newtype, and then in the next, someone tells his mom he might be a Newtype. WTF? Is he a Newtype or isn't he? WHICH IS IT?!

The Crossbone Vanguard make even less sense because we are never really told what they want and the fact that Iron Mask has his own agenda just comes out of left field in the story's last 20 minutes without any build up prior. Add on top that characters just betray the Vanguard to join the Federation without any reason to and are just accepted into the Feddy ranks without question makes this poorly paced, slow moving rush job a total mess. Oh, and then when that character dies in the next battle I'm supposed to for some reason be upset about it? Why? None of these characters gave me any reason to even give a crap. And some of their deaths don't even make sense. One guy lands in the water and he's blatantly dead? Huh? Then we have this revelation in the last 10 minutes that Iron Mask is a cyber Newtype even though nothing was ever stated before this moment. Finally, the ending takes way too long to finish and there is no actual conclusion to the Crossbone Vanguard.

I know this was originally planned for a series and changed into a movie, but come on, put some god damn forethought into the process. Instead of making a compilation film for 50 non-existent episodes, how about actually rewriting the story to be a 2 hour movie and cut out 90% of the characters that don't serve any purpose? Wow, it's so simple that even a caveman could write it.

In the end, I give this lingering waste of time a 4/10.

By the way, this was the first time I watched this movie in English and the dub was god damn terrible.

Finally sat down and watched Thunderbolt and wow, that was so friggen good. Like I was actually shocked by how good it was and how into it I got. Go watch it if you haven't. Thing is fucking awesome.

So far IBO has been okay. Started off great, but I'm getting kinda bored with it to be honest.

That's kind of how I feel. I'm going to wait a few weeks before I go back and watch all of the episodes in one sitting.

BTW, Turn A has been announced for BD next year and Rightstuf is going to do an upgrade program for those that bought it on DVD. Also, 0080 has been pushed back until next year.

IBO drags watching week to week, I definitely recommend waiting for it to finish so you can watch it in chunks/at once.

SO two weekends ago I was at a gaming convention I wnt to that's about an hour from where I live. I got a Sinanju anime wallscroll (cringey, I know) and a Sharkrobot RX-78 t-shirt.

Yeah just the way the show is structured it makes it hard to sit through week after week.

It's more like an OVA series that's been diced up into episodes. (Kinda like RE:0096, except done way better than that editing groaner) There're be entire episodes where there's no action, which makes the breaks between big developments feel even longer apart.

The narrative vegtables are fine when eaten alongside some juicy meat, but alone there's really nothing to savour.

Which is annoying because the action in IBO is so intense that it just makes you wanting more of that.

Still, there are a couple of good downtime episodes I mean we've gotten some pretty decent character growth out of that.

Oh yeah totally. The downtime is just fine when, say, watching three or four eps at a time. But as an example, the episode about the formalities of Tekkadan joining Teiwaz is all well and good for character development and establishing plot points, but it means there's a full two weeks time of the plot not really moving.

It definitely gets more evenly paced near the end.
